its not worrying about the missfire that got me taken the WD2 to bits its the fact that sitting there listening to the miss fire is so annoying lol You don't here when there are a few more engines running.. but after an hour or so in your garden that little miss fire gets on your wick lol Dan
aye running much better now.. still room for improvement though :P i think the feel cure would be a nice piston water pump for it to run.. not that I can find one though lol Dan
Hi, the wolseley has an impulse magneto. To set the timing back sure the dots on all the timing gears match up. Open the round back cover and you can clearly see the timing dots on the crank, cam and magneto drive. These should all be lined up. Rotate the engine until you are at TDC with both valves closed. Take the magneto and rotate in the direction that it would if it was running and bolt it to the engine. If the engine is correctly timed the magneto should click with the flywheel key facing down in the 6 o clock position. If it clicks in any other location the timing is incorrect
No worries. There is a restoration series on this channel for this engine. There should be a section that shows setting up the timing. I did have an issue as this magneto has the wrong flange. The mag should see bolt upright but doesn’t. So i had to adjust the timing to teeth out to get it trip the impulse at TDC. Just remember to get that impulse to click with the flywheel key at 6 o clock and it will run perfectly. Internal weights in the magneto disengage the impulse at 300rpm and automatically retard the timing to 15 degrees BTDC
Cheers mate.. took many bruised knuckles to adjust those valves but that seems to have been the improvement it needed.. cheers, Dan
Very nice engine that one and running better now.
Like it!

arrrr quit belly acing, i wouldn't worry about a misfire. its just how stationary engines are. look at my Lister A
