i had the great honour of living with her for 7yrs...how much i learnt from this humble icon n legend...may her soul eternally rest in peace...always loved and missed!
I met this Queen in Liberia, while she was exiled from South Africa, 1972,I was a child, my Dad approach her after the concert and she bowed to him , he was also exiled from the homeland , she hadn't seen one of her countrymen for years xxx
I met her in Canada after her performance. I was 19 years old and had crashed the green room hoping to take some photos for my University project. She was the kindest lady I ever met. I was the first person she approached and went on to tell me how she had met my late president Allende and how she was good friends with his widow, and with Graca Machel. She spoke to me like I was someone she had waited her life to meet. I have no idea how she knew my nationality and everyone just assumed that I knew her. For years I told myself that she just got me mixed up with someone else that was supposed to meet her. Now I know how special she was.
I love this lady!!! I'm so grateful to have discovered her at an early age. All I had of her for a loooong time was the album, Evening with Belafonte, it got better...Limewire, Google, Utube. I taught myself and some of my Grand Children her songs in her languages and what they mean in ours. She definitely deserve a do over if she wanted one. The world slept on her. So sad. OMG And her Soul and Beauty is PHENOMENAL.
They didnt sleep on her, they tried to punish her for standing up against racism. 1st in South Africa then in America. In America Black people were getting killed especially those associated with the Black Panthers. She married Stokely Carmichael. The target on her was made even bigger.
She a truly wonderful woman who should be an inspiration to us all, especially to those who have much and do not know what to do with their extreme wealth. God bless and keep you, Mother Africa.
Queen Mama Afrika..you represent the other greatness of our land, the genius of those who gave us our pride in being Afrikan whether we were brown, black, coloured or white, when we were upstanding in a sad,bad world....Sonny Pillay, Hugh Masekala...AfrikanJazz....the fifties. My darling live forever in our hearts, minds and our very beings,🙏🏽✊🏾👍🏾❤️👋🏽😍❣️🥰👴🏽♥️
Amazing! She is down to earth. Thanks for this interview. I am from Mali, but the songs she sang while in Guinea are part of the Mali empire folklore where guinea used to be part of that empire. I noticed one guitarist with her who has lived both in Mali and Guinea. She interpreted those songs very well. I have purchased some of those songs online through Apple . I am not sure whether our singers are making any money out of that. Especially when they pass away.

She spread so much comfort and joy in the hearts and minds of so many people but the pain this woman suffered stayed with her.

From Uganda but in Sweden. these times of Corona virus she is my comforter ❤️🙏
Uwielbiam jej głos, mogę słuchać w nieskończoność. Bardzo boli, że polskie stacje radiowe nie puszczają jej muzyki.
I love her. Growing up her music got me
Ms. Makeba was the Mother of Africa to me!

Beautiful and of good heart
High level of contentment in what comes her way.

I will sing until the day I die, she foresaw.
She passed away in nov 2008. Perhaps this interview was made not too long before that.
So profound
A story of resilience ♥️
Your words and name carry additional meaning given that Bongi was the name of her only child, as you may already know.
True Divine Goddess ❤️💛💚🖤⚫️👸🏿🤴🏾🇬🇳🇯🇲👊🏾🙌🏽👍🏽😇
Wow! Umngqusho in a can. Not seen it here in Glasgow, though!!!!
I am empowered by her Words.

Miriam you may rest in peace but you came along away and prove people wrong.
She is an icon ❤❤❤
I admired her sooooooo much! The breathing was a little heavy here though.
She was not well during this interview. Sounds like she’s struggling with a common Cold.
Great mother and singer
Toujours vivante dans nos coeurs et mémoires...
That's true
rip Miriam!
We love you mana

She is quite correct. Dorothy Masuka the big singing star from Rhodesia/Zimbabwe was popular long before her.
May her soul Rest In Peace,
She was very beautiful.
So Beautiful 💙✨
I love you
They didn’t even let her come home to go to her own mums funeral.... evil
Soo sad
I weep for her
Well they saw her as a terrorist. I don't see any scenario with France letting a guy from ISIS return for funerals.

@@Big-guy1981 this is a lady who wanted to go fight for her people's emancipation, how can you compare her to Isis? You racist prick

What happened to her daughter ?
Died on the year 1985
Bongi her only daughter died in Childbirth after giving her 3 grandkids. So sad.
she is alive,,?
No she died in 2008. Rest well mama 🖤
Bongi died in childbirth so sad she was her only daughter. She gave her 3 grandchildren a boy and 2 girls.
The sad part is she wasn't paid any royalties for the music recorded in the U.S.

This man's interviewing skills are poor man, he didn't have that vava voom man, these are iconic stories, at least show some enthusiasm...
It's not an interview it's a conversation
@@bobmugoya3613 You can say that again
Perhaps he knew she was not feeling well and did not want to bring too much intense energy...idk. It does seem like a mellow interview...
Say it again Peter Ndoro is so relaxed by his nature. He don't show any excitement of what is sad by Miriam Makeba
