IT's things like this that make me love this channel. Having been born and raised in Chicago I remember some of these things but to see it all again makes me feel good. Thanks guys, you rocked it again. :)
I have had this vague memory of a condor movie for so long. I thought it was called "flight of the condors" or "the last condor" or something. So glad I found it. I love that they left in the commercials, too.
RW:thank you for bringing this special on UA-cam ,cause I remember my parents taped this special on a video cassette that was ever the first thing I remember from it after watching a stop motion dinosaur cartoon with cavemens in it.😁
This was actually made by Bill Melendez Productions, the same guys responsible for the successful Peanuts TV cartoons. And so far, I hope it will be restored on home video some day like on DVD, like a collection of sorts.
Interesting trivia: The last Pinta Island (Galapagos) tortoise was named Lonesome George. :) On another note, I wish the animators had made Pat the Passenger Pigeon look more like an actual passenger pigeon rather than a typical city pigeon/rock dove and had named her Martha or had her mention a relative with that name, after the last passenger pigeon who lived her final days at the Cincinnati Zoo.
I’ve never saw this special before, but this was one of the most obscure TV special which was not available on DVD. It was only released on VHS in 1986 by FHE minus the commercials, but the FHE version is very difficult to find.
Never saw this cartoon. Its just the kind of show my family would've encouraged me to watch-a show about endangered animals. More people need to develop a social conscious, so they don't grow up to be adults who demean others who do.
Awesome animated special & great video made by the creators of both Peanuts & The Fluffers TV Series: Lee Mendelson, Bill Mendez & Frank Fehmers @ 5:16-5:23. Also, this is one of many non-Peanuts cartoons produced by Lee Mendelson & Bill Mendez.
Heh, at first glance I thought this special was made by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises (as one of their final productions before becoming Marvel Productions) until I saw the guys at 1:47 and realized this was actually made by Bill Melendez Productions!

I have the VHS, but I didn't know who it was released by.
I have the Family Home Entertainment VHS of "No Man's Valley".
Also, I'm in the UK, so it's interesting seeing this in context with the adverts it would have been shown with.

I remember watching this as a little kid living in Kansas City!

This was on the Philadelphia CBS channel at the time, too. I believe it was on all CBS channels nationwide.
You mean WCAU Channel 10? That was my CBS station and nowadays KYW Channel 3 is my CBS station, making WCAU my NBC station.
Saw this , I this was video recorded on a VHS tape. Reminds me of my childhood
