Thankful for you both…and the work you do! 🙏🏼 Tim and Wes, is the New Age Movement almost a Neo-Gnostic progression?? And what are your thoughts on the Passion Translation? (as I’ve heard Mike Winger teach re his concerns of the PT)
I get a gnostic vibe from Tim at times in this video. 55:20 it seems odd that nobody mentioned how the theme of females becoming male is present in the new Testament, although the gnostic depiction is definitely messed up. We are all adopted into one body. Women have been adopted into sonship in the body of Christ. Huiothesia is an interesting theme to consider. Ephesians 1:5
It's wrong to call the Deuterocanonical books apocryphal. Jerome quotes some of the Deuterocanonical Books as Scripture, including those he thinks aren’t (or shouldn’t be) canonical. One of the clearest examples of this is in Letter 108, in which he quotes Sirach 13:2, and expressly calls it Scripture, writing, “for does not the scripture say: ‘Burden not yourself above your power?’” There are several other examples of Jerome treating the Deuterocanon like Scripture.
Romans 8:7 “The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” . John 3:6,7 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.” “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” . Acts 2:38. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” . 1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” .
At 20:30 he says he can name popes who thought the apocrophya wasnt scripture and they were debating until martin luther, can you cite sources for that?
Off the top if my head, Gregory the Great. The view that the apocrypha wasn’t holy scripture but still edifying was quite wide spread and common even among the well known church fathers like Athanasius or John of Damascus (I think John chrysostom as well but I could be wrong it’s been quite a long time since I studied there topic but the list is quite long of known fathers who held that view). It certainly wasn’t a controversial view in the patristics era.
When Wes says the apocrypha books are not heretical is it that you should not arrive at teachings like purgatory or praying to saints or that he doesn’t think that those teachings should be considered
ATTENTION WESLEY HUFF: As an expert in historical languages and biblical manuscripts, your insights are invaluable in addressing Anatoly Fomenko’s controversial claims in his New Chronology. Fomenko argues that much of ancient and medieval history was fabricated or misdated, proposing a drastically shortened historical timeline. Specifically, he suggests: Many historical events and figures are duplicates fabricated during the Renaissance. Ancient manuscripts, including biblical texts, were created or heavily altered in the medieval period. Established historical dating methods, such as linguistic evolution and paleographic analysis, are unreliable. To counter these claims, could you address the following points? Manuscript Evidence: How do textual variations and dating of biblical manuscripts, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Septuagint, disprove Fomenko’s assertions? Language Evolution: How does the progression of ancient languages like Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic provide a clear timeline incompatible with Fomenko’s shortened history? Cross-Cultural Validation: Can independent historical records and inscriptions from other civilizations (e.g., Babylonian, Egyptian, or Assyrian) corroborate the traditional biblical chronology? Dating Techniques: How do paleography and codicology independently validate the authenticity and age of ancient texts? Your detailed response would help clarify why Fomenko’s theories are widely regarded as pseudoscientific and unsupported by linguistic and manuscript evidence. Thank you!
The misinformation is ridiculous. The Bible was more than 66 books from the early church. The Synod of Hippo dictates the canonical books of the Bible and specifically Canon XXIV does.
I like this Huff guy. The way he talks. Thanks guys!
Four years later (2024), Wes is STILL having issues with his computer system!!!!
😂😂
The more you read, the early church the more Catholic/ Orthodox it is 😊
In general don't take away or add to God's Word. Truth! Which is Jesus. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God!
I believe it’s one word, Providence
Wes huff Debate Jimmy akins that would be fire.
I’m curious to know what you gentlemen think of Michael Heiser’s teachings.

What about the cepher version??

My name is Tracey Burroughs from South Africa. I have the Jerusalem bible and that has the Apocrypha in it.
Explained very well.
The argument that New Testament writers did not quote the Septuagint apocrypha does not strongly support excluding it from consideration as scripture.

Considered heretical
Early churches from the 200 back to Christ

This is like another Protestant/Catholic debate. A waste of time to watch. Just use the Bible your church uses. At 2:04 had enough watching this.
Definitely would like to see more of that. One on KJV and other translations would be great. I grew up KJV only.
Jerome was wrong
Nope
The Bible was reviled by God to his Church The Catholic Church I think you need another history lesson.....
When Jesus said upon this rock I will build my church He was referring to Himself not Peter!
Jesus The Christ is The corner stone and The cap stone. He is The beginning and The end! He is God!
Jesus is The Head of The church... the body of Him!

This guy is suppose to be legit at least he seems to be. How does this misinformation happen
@shanahendricks9831 I can't tell intention, but it is clear misinformation when the information provided is wrong.
