One thing to also consider is even if there were different versions of Christianity early on, that doesn't automatically mean Christianity is false. Having different versions of something doesn't necessitate that they're all false. It could be possible that one of them is true and that should encourage us to look at the evidence for each.

      2 Thessalonians 2:10
      King James Version
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

There is no doubt there were competing narratives of Christianity immidiately after the death of Jesus. So much of the NT which is the earliest evidence shows that Paul, Peter, James we’re still working out orthodoxy and Paul constantly is telling people to beware of false gospels.

There will be always different versions of everything, but the real one still exists, the focus is and should be on Christ

Forgeries like 2nd Peter? Or the pastoral epistles?

Secret knowledge… like Jesus speaking in parables so only the disciples know? Or Paul and the mystery revealed to him?
These kinds of apologetics/polemics only work on an uneducated audience and it’s a shame when Christians use these tactics mindfully or not
