Hey everybody, I hope you all are doing well and if celebrated, have some plans lined up for Thanksgiving day with family and friends. Tonight I am putting out this WW2 ration, and a 2018 US Meal Cold Weather. A little something new and old. This particular one was very special and one of my personal favorites as these usually degrade into something unrecognizable by this point in time. My friend BTemple reviewed this same ration and his was a great representation of how all of these will look eventually as time goes on. ua-cam.com/video/AAfqpn4GolA/v-deo.html As for the remaining components, as much as I enjoyed joking about eating them all, they are going to be given to a family member to re-sell to cover some of their bills. 11:05 Steve takes a bite of the Hershey's Tropical Bar and a crumb falls on his tray, his face for a second is like "Hey, that crumble cost me 5 bucks." Seeing you crunch on the malted milk tablets gave me an idea. Ever see that cooking UA-cam show, I think it's called Bon Appétit and there's different show too, they try to make popular products from scratch. Like gourmet skittles, or cheetoes, KFC's famous recipe, anything. Anyway they try to reverse engineer the recipe if it's not available. I'm sure those people could reproduce these forgotten delicious candies for all to enjoy(especially those malted tablets:)
That gave me a good chuckle. If there is a way to have an identical replication of those malted milk tablets that would be simply amazing. As much as I enjoyed joking about eating the remaining packs, they will be sold. I'd love to save them all for my display, but a family member needs some money to pay some bills so that is how this one will be allocated in the end. I get to keep the tin though.

Keep up the good work and I cant wait to get my hoodie...Nice..lol.
What a wonderful hobby this guy has got. So nice he is documenting this on UA-cam for generations to come. These things want last. No matter how well they are preserve now.
I live in Dothan Alabama about an hour away we had a lot of damage so I could imagine , I haven’t been down there since the storm I have donated a lot of items , I heard people were living in tents right now but soon FEMA would have trailers down there I hope that’s true
Every time I say "All right" a certain way, I catch myself saying, "Let's get this out on a tray...." And of course, nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. So, thanks for that, man.
What kind of storage conditions are at play when you see these rations almost 8 decades old being almost perfectly preserved? Are the majority of the good rations we see on this channel from forgotten warehouses and storage units that have cool dry temperatures and someone stumbles upon them? It always fascinates me as to where these are coming from and how perfect storage factors can stay consistent for over 70 years.
Pretty sure some dude back there got an idea to keep it stored in perfect condition for future documentation. Or it just some MRE hunter time travelling and keep all this relic save......
One that's been sitting in a basement in Maine all these years is going to be in much better shape than one that's been on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico all that time.
This is the first vid I've watched on this channel. Ever since I was a kid who loved survivalist stuff and always carried a "survival kit in a sardine can" on hikes and family camping trips, I've likes this kinda thing. I remember I once read some book about being adrift at sea on a WW2 life raft, and I distinctly remember the mention of the hard chocolate as a ration, and also the C rations iirc. Fascinating to me, right down to the way it's all packaged, and imagining the manufacturing and logistics organizing it all. Speaking of things that are "wholesome" like Steve was saying the ingredients were in the past, this channel is certainly full of authentic wholesome content that I'm gonna have to binge lol.
Interesting to see pemmican in a 20th Century ration. Traditionally not made with vegetable fat. Should have been beef or bison tallow, which is NOT the usual fat, but comes from a particular part of the animal. Tallow and pulverized dried meat is the basic recipe. Lasts for a long time at room temp. The addition of dried fruits and nuts makes it less shelf life stable.
@Mike HI think, strictly speaking, it just needs to be ground up stuff with fat. Meat is just the norm (and wiser) ingredient. I wonder if it has to do with hydration.
You know Steve kinda reminds me of the mechanic you can do on MGS3, where you can eat anything and everything. You can ask Para-Medic if its horrible but the game allows you to eat it anyways. Steve knows its rancid but he proceeds to do it anyways. That's pretty N I C E if you ask me
This has been one of my favourite. More so because of how excited and happy you were to find how good a condition it was in. Made it all the more enjoyable to watch!
Haha! You're like a kid with these malted milk tablets. I love that. Man... I wish I could send you an old (well preserved) french ration just to see your happy face. The moment I found one, you will get it. Love & kisses.
Nothing like some old and preserved ration candy to make me happy. If you ever find a vintage French ration for me to review, I would gladly give it a shot! That would be something quite different and amazing to see.

Wow. That can sat on a shelf during all the days of my mom's life. Truly humbling.
Every time he says “Let’s get this out onto a tray - Nice!” I chuckle a bit.
11:05 Steve takes a bite of the Hershey's Tropical Bar and a crumb falls on his tray, his face for a second is like "Hey, that crumble cost me 5 bucks."
Seeing you crunch on the malted milk tablets gave me an idea.
@@Steve1989MRE absolutely, you do a good thing documenting on here, now those Military treats will go on to the next collector to appreciate. Keep it up!
Steve, thank you for the new uploads!! I always look forward to them!
All hail the MRE God, one of the many War Gods Of history, for he has blessed us with a video
If anyone deserves 1 million subs it’s Steve
He deserves two. And he got em.
I like how “nice hiss” has turned into a meme. Nice..

this is so amazing... 1945, older than my dad.... but look at the preservation quality!
It was truly an incredible find and one to remember.
Hello, do you have a personal relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? The Son of God. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9

Quick question. How will you preserve them now that they're in your possession?
“Puts poop in ziplock bag”
My best friend and I recently discovered your channel and we are both hooked...fully. We binge watch your videos daily. Your ability to describe the taste and textures of the rations are amazing. It makes is almost like I can taste it myself. And your care and respect for the history of the rations is impeccable..Thank you for making the world a more interesting and fun place to be bro. Keep up the good work and I cant wait to get my hoodie...Nice..lol.
What a wonderful hobby this guy has got. So nice he is documenting this on UA-cam for generations to come. These things want last. No matter how well they are preserve now.
Love your videos, I’m from Panama City, Florida I have been eating a lot of MRE’s because hurricane Michael
Hey stunmi, I hope you didn't sustain too much damage from that storm. At least you got to try out some MREs!
Lost somethings but better off then other family’s around just keeping my head up, thanks for the videos
stunmi I’ve been there before and I’m sad to here that Halle rd to you
stunmi got any left? do a review.
I live in Dothan Alabama about an hour away we had a lot of damage so I could imagine , I haven’t been down there since the storm I have donated a lot of items , I heard people were living in tents right now but soon FEMA would have trailers down there I hope that’s true
I’ve been bingeing on your videos for the first time today! Your timing is impeccable!!
That's some seriously decent timing!
That's what I did too when I stumbled into this channel. Like a week straight of binging

classic Steve at around 13:10 - I won't, i probably will, no i really shouldn't, maybe i will.
Every time I say "All right" a certain way, I catch myself saying, "Let's get this out on a tray...." And of course, nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. So, thanks for that, man.
Biscuits are bleachy and stale. (Continues to take a bite) but their actually pretty good😆 you got me there bro😂
Steve, you speak of botulism as though you have an intimate personal experience with it...
He does
well.. he does :o
he has ahahah, he talked about it I think, or I read it somewhere, can't remember
Olivier Déry i think it’s E. coli he got, from a badly stored modern ration ironically. But yeah he almost died it’s why he’s so careful now
Others go droopy eyed off MDMA monthly, Steve goes droopy eyed off botulism.
Bunkers probably I’d imagine. Cool, dark, and dry.
One that's been sitting in a basement in Maine all these years is going to be in much better shape than one that's been on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico all that time.
Freezing maybe? Or some kind of insulated container that keeps a specific temperature
Double upload? 🇳 🇮 🇨 🇪
Hope you enjoyed the double, sodium!

The dislikes are from people who got botulism.
@Richard Stephens Amateurs
Mkay let’s get this new video out onto a trey.
*NICE*
Got that lingo down

*in my mind screaming* THANK YOU FOR POSTING A NEW VIDEO STEVE!!!! :)
Steve meets girl: "I wanna experience a special dinner with you"
Opens a 1945 Ration for two! ROMANTIC!
As a ww2 collector myself, I realize how hard it must be for you to open or damage the packaging on some of these things
Wow what a find, night and day from BTemple's sample. Thanks for sharing your passion with us.
I’m from ft worth too ✌🏻

You know Steve kinda reminds me of the mechanic you can do on MGS3, where you can eat anything and everything.
You can ask Para-Medic if its horrible but the game allows you to eat it anyways. Steve knows its rancid but he proceeds to do it anyways.
That's pretty N I C E if you ask me
This has been one of my favourite. More so because of how excited and happy you were to find how good a condition it was in. Made it all the more enjoyable to watch!
Dear Steve, thanks for your Channel. i love to look at these old ration videos. Very interesting. Greetings from Germany. 👋
That's in amazing shape! Once again, great stuff, Steve!
It really was a sight to behold, Mickey.
Thanks for checking this one out man!
I'm so glad I stumbled on your this page, this is wonderful content and I enjoy the history that comes along with it. Subscribing asap. Thank you and keep up the great work! 😊
Thanks so much. Greatly appreciate you taking us back in time and as usual we always learn something new. Thanks
I haven't watched these in a while and I almost forgot how wonderfully enthusiastic (without any hysteria) Steve is - at times, he's positively giddy!
Amazing Preservation!!! Happy Thanksgiving ,thanks for your videos Steve!

AWESOME OPENING. THANKS STEVE. LOVE THE PRECAUTIONS ON THE TIN CAN, AND THE INITIAL MINI EXPLOSION ON OPENING...
Your negative pressure, air purifying respirator will protect you better when you are clean shaven. Facial hair will interrupt the seal and allow your little botu-buddies to slip inside the mask, by-passing the filters. After being cooped up in the Pemmican Inn for over 70 years they may be in the mood to play, and it sounds like you know how that can go. Stay as safe as you can, really enjoy these videos. I am glad you make the effort to document this information and share your insight into an important and interesting part of history that is essentially passed over by the very “Historians” who should be preserving it.
