OMG When you started to show the city with the rome 1 music, nostalgia hit me like falling from a plane on the ground :D it remembered me how I felt, when I played Rome 1 as my first total war game for the first time :D thx
I really love the details present in the pristine city as well as all the minor detritus and smoke from the escalation levels. What I found out about escalation levels though is there is a component of randomness. I loaded up an escalation 1 battle several times and got both different weather and also different damage done to the city. Holes appeared in different sections which will definitely add to replayability!!! Also saw the same thing happen with escalation 2 but the weather stayed dark and clouded in smoke. Overall seems that escalation 1 = 15-80% damage to walls and towers in one or two sections of the defenses while escalation 2 = 60-90% damage to walls and towers for all the defenses
RicheUK Me too, the first song is my favourite in any total war title. That might have to do with the fact that it was the music that played the first campaign I ever played, but every time I hear that music I'm just so exited.
Something I liked about the Attila settlements was the rundown and decrepit feeling of them. I especially liked the settlement with the half destroyed Colosseum with all the housing built into it. It really captured the feeling of people living on the corpse of Rome. It's beautiful in it's own way really. Like a new flower blossoming from the carcass of an animal.
Thanks man, haha first time I get an early copy of the game but I remember exactly what its like wanting all the info possible so I got you guys on that front lol
rome is cool, but show us constantinopole, with the theodosian walls, the pillar of augustus, the hagia sophia and the golden horn bay. It wasnt the most beatufill city in the world for nothing
Wow! Attila's graphics are pretty impressive! I appreciate how much effort they've put into the building and land textures, it really gives off that apocalypse feel to me.
Any one else think it's awesome that they put "Marcus Agrippa ,son of Lucius, Consul for the third time, built this" on the Pantheon ? Agrippa was a badass.
NathanEpic0123 Probably. But still, why would someone set it up again between the bridges? Even if its parked, why? To show how fancy it is for the neighbors? My goodness i feel like an old woman complaining about random stupid things.
+Marco C. Lucky you are, I always wondered what it felt like to live in such a prestigious, and old city, the hsitory engraved in the walls of every surviving houses / block appartment. I often look on Google map to look at Rome. I envy the people living in those historic monuments.
+HoboTango I live abroad now... but I miss my city. She has tons of problems, but I still find her to be the most beautiful city in the world. ;) You should definetly go visit and give me a shout out when you do so! I'll give you some suggestions to get around. ;)
Love how everything is starting to look old, tbf the city has been around for nearly a 1000 years by this point though that's from when it was first settled not really when all the main features where built
Great work as always mate.keep these coming they are amazing.i love the cinematics you do for your videos.and like the theodosian wall video the wealth of historical knowledge you have.it always makes me learn more about history.
When will we be able to see the people in the streets? during the city battles? I don't think, cause it would be silly to see people quietly wandering around when their city is besieged. So is there a new type of "city mode" where you can see cities with people inside?
Glad to see the cities looking like actual cities. Can't wait to play in a few days. What's your impression of the soundtrack so far, Oakley? Better than Rome 2?
Interesting to think that at the height of the Roman Empire, Rome itself had over 1million people living in it. After the fall (around 400), there was less than 17,000 remaining in Rome.
Not really. There is a way to destroy walls without siege weapons. I believe it was called tunneling where soldiers or possibly engineers when underground and destroyed the foundation of walls by removing the ground taking away the walls base and making it collapse.
John Fiedler But that´s no where to be seen in the game, as far as I know. It never was a present mechanic and I doubt they introduced it in Attila, unless if it´s just to excuse the possible fact that a army of Spear Militia and Slingers can somehow put a hole in the walls of Rome...
What's even worse is that right before the battle there's a fire in some random part the town. Why? Did someone drop a candle right before the battle started?
swatbot2611 Actually I believe this mechanic existed on the campaign map in rome 1 and medieval 2,but yeah I agree, maybe they should make sappers tunneling an unlock from technology so that you don't see untrained rabble pulling off advanced siege techniques
I don't know why but if I was defending or attacking Rome I wouldn't even start the battle I'd just be looking at the civilians walking around oblivious to their city under attack or if they AI/me siege it longer look at the progression. What a great looking game! Hope the AI doesn't suck.
Great video man! If you allow me, I would like to mention that when you do some of the overflights, the screen shakes. I wondered if you could do something about this. It's not very inportant, but I just know you like some feedback.
is it still like in previous total war games that you have to wait to build your siege equipment? because with the new siege escalation feature siege equipment is kinda obsolete. when you wait many turns and the siege escalation continues you dont need siege equipment any more. and it doesnt really makes sense that you have to wait many months (or even years) to build siege equipment. they could change it so you have to buy siege equipment, so if you instantly attack while youre in siege escalation stage 1 where you actually need your siege equipment you can buy alot and if you wait you dont need to buy it and let the siege escalation do the job. idk what do you guys think?
The way it works is that you cannot attack a city right away unless it doesnt have walls or if you do have siege equipment already. Otherwise you have to wait several turns to build ladders, towers, and rams. If you attack earlier on then there may just be one or two holes in one section of the wall so the equipment is still useful for overwhelming defenders. Once you are at the top escalation there is less of a use for the equipment but it can still come in handy
What happens when a Barbarian or Desert faction captures Rome and converts the architecture to their civilization? Will the battlefield- model of the city still look like Rome here? Or will it turn into a generic barbarian city (what a massive downgrade that would be lol)
I love this music.Probably best music in all tw series in my opinion.Im going to be very happy in this release if rome 2 dont ruin reputation of ca and tw games.I feel like deceived in rome 2.But its still look good.
Meh they got it mostly right but alot of monuments are still missing, also why the hell didn't they just model the rest of the city going to the horizon like they did in empire? That would have been better
idk it's not like they'd lied to our face before not sure how someone can be such a fan boy and still trust them completely....Siege of Carthage anyone?
***** you saying I don't understand where you find skepticism in the look of Rome when it's being shoved in front of your face makes you a fan boy , your defending Rome after what happend last time ? LOL
***** saying i don't like the franchise becuase i didn't like what happend with the iinitial release is cute , and yes yes you did set it as a reply to me
At 0:48, when the music kicks in, it's sort of like a time travel back to Rome: Total War.
I actually like Medieval 2 better
I'll run before you can get wood for the burning pyre as I am clearly a heretic
Heretic: Total War :P
OMG When you started to show the city with the rome 1 music, nostalgia hit me like falling from a plane on the ground :D it remembered me how I felt, when I played Rome 1 as my first total war game for the first time :D thx
I love the amount of detail Creative Assembly puts into their games. The majority of people wouldn't even notice or care but they still add it in.
5:16 Got goosebumps when the beats and drums start thundering!!! Amazing video ,THFE Productions FOR LIFE!!
I really love the details present in the pristine city as well as all the minor detritus and smoke from the escalation levels. Is this much detail pit into other cities/settlements, Did they only ake Rome look good?
Omair Mirza I am going to be doing overviews for the other unique cities after this so stay tuned
Great video man, I got very Nostalgic with that 2004 Rome soundtrack
RicheUK Me too, the first song is my favourite in any total war title. That might have to do with the fact that it was the music that played the first campaign I ever played, but every time I hear that music I'm just so exited.
Raymond Benjamins I'm with you on that :)

This looks really great, so much better than Rome II's Rome !
Thanks for this video updates on the game, you are doing this really well.
Thanks man, haha first time I get an early copy of the game but I remember exactly what its like wanting all the info possible so I got you guys on that front lol
well dont forget that this is around 500 years later so its gonna be alot bigger then in rome 2
That song is etched in my brain, for hours of playing rome.
rome is cool, but show us constantinopole, with the theodosian walls, the pillar of augustus, the hagia sophia and the golden horn bay. It wasnt the most beatufill city in the world for nothing
You know it really says a lot how the music from rome 1 was so good that it's still epic even today.
Wow! Attila's graphics are pretty impressive! I appreciate how much effort they've put into the building and land textures, it really gives off that apocalypse feel to me.

2:20 I wounder what's the point of having a ship there.
BritishPrivateer Isn't the mast to high for the bridges?
Yeah I was wondering, too. How is it going to get out of there with the low bridges up and down the river?
I think the mast might be collapsible, with the ship rowed down the river until it gets to the ocean. Could be wrong though.
NathanEpic0123 Probably. But still, why would someone set it up again between the bridges? Even if its parked, why? To show how fancy it is for the neighbors?
My goodness i feel like an old woman complaining about random stupid things.
Wotioh Maybe when its collapsed it gets in the way when they bring cargo on-board and have to take it to the other side of the ship.
I am from Rome myself and I must say, they did a great job. Wow. :-)
+Marco C. Lucky you are, I always wondered what it felt like to live in such a prestigious, and old city, the hsitory engraved in the walls of every surviving houses / block appartment. I often look on Google map to look at Rome. I envy the people living in those historic monuments.

Beautiful. This is probably the prettiest strategy game out there. So much love for detail and incredibly good textures even when zoomed in.
+BenniRoR The prettiest would be Crusader King 2 I believe.
Great work as always mate.keep these coming they are amazing.i love the cinematics you do for your videos.and like the theodosian wall video the wealth of historical knowledge you have.it always makes me learn more about history.
Excellent work on selecting Divinitus as background music :)
Great job on the tour bud. Atilla looks like it's going to be much better than R2's initial release. Nice choice of music as well ;).
You must not let Rome fall into hands of savages! Defend civilization !
Salve Roma!!
how to view the city like you?
Console comands I guess, maybe a mod
Amazing video man! Thanks a lot!
I just love the original Rome Total War soundtrack so much
That music! Nothing less then pure immersion =D
how u can go inside the city without battle ?
can be while multiplayer, can be solo like 1 unit vs 1 unit.. just u not attack city only make video :D
When will we be able to see the people in the streets? during the city battles? I don't think, cause it would be silly to see people quietly wandering around when their city is besieged. So is there a new type of "city mode" where you can see cities with people inside?
great vids man keep it up
Awesome video, man! Thanks!
***** Jesus... What happened to your portrait? HAHAHA jkjk
Ello :)
I thought there were thwre levels of escalation? R1 music op though.
Sorry maybe i missed the third level. I am eating and watching youtube at the same time usually. Haha
It only game me the option for 2 levels... I think maybe the third "level" is just when the city has taken no damage
THFE Productions aahh makes sense.
I cannot wait for this release
Glad to see the cities looking like actual cities. Can't wait to play in a few days.
What's your impression of the soundtrack so far, Oakley? Better than Rome 2?
Used to this in Rome 1 with Greek-Occupied Carthage. Man the Greeks had some awesome temples. Couldn't be bothered by Athens or Sparta.
Wow that Rome 1 soundtrack was ahead of its time!!
That first song from Rome total war is so amazing
That song was so perfect
Any performance issues with a such big city ?
i really hope that by the time of medieval 3 the engine will be fixed and the cities and armies fit to realistic scales
0:48 What is this music?
Rome will endure...I'll bloody see to it.
Interesting to think that at the height of the Roman Empire, Rome itself had over 1million people living in it. After the fall (around 400), there was less than 17,000 remaining in Rome.
awesome!!!...any know the name of soundtracks used here
Do the walls fall even if the attacking army doesn´t have sieging equipment like Catapults and Trebuchets? That would make no freaking sense...
Not really. There is a way to destroy walls without siege weapons. I believe it was called tunneling where soldiers or possibly engineers when underground and destroyed the foundation of walls by removing the ground taking away the walls base and making it collapse.

True

What was that song playing in the beginning of your video?
great video!!!! Are the songs from the total war series?? could you tell me thanks!
did anyone els see the boot enclosed with in two brigges around 2:17.
i just saw it and thought why is there a boot ther
Damn I love the music!
I don't know why but if I was defending or attacking Rome I wouldn't even start the battle I'd just be looking at the civilians walking around oblivious to their city under attack or if they AI/me siege it longer look at the progression. What a great looking game! Hope the AI doesn't suck.
Jeeeez....nostalgia overdose :D
What’s the music for the video.
Great video man!
If you allow me, I would like to mention that when you do some of the overflights, the screen shakes. I wondered if you could do something about this. It's not very inportant, but I just know you like some feedback.
Hmmm could just be due to some FPS drops from recording or processing the video
is it still like in previous total war games that you have to wait to build your siege equipment? because with the new siege escalation feature siege equipment is kinda obsolete. when you wait many turns and the siege escalation continues you dont need siege equipment any more. and it doesnt really makes sense that you have to wait many months (or even years) to build siege equipment. they could change it so you have to buy siege equipment, so if you instantly attack while youre in siege escalation stage 1 where you actually need your siege equipment you can buy alot and if you wait you dont need to buy it and let the siege escalation do the job. idk what do you guys think?

Hello, how i can use ''Settlement view'' in Attila?
have u ever think of making a similar video about chinese cities escalation in three kingdoms total war?
that rome 1 music so good :3
they should have put in more colours in the city, on colums etc, more marble also..
can someone tell me why a settlement if sorrounded by hostile troops with no catapults, onagres ecc. have to "auto destroy" it self ?
Could you do a presentation of Constantinople?
If there is sb still here, could he tell me the song name?
You may have confused north with west. The map is tilted 90 degrees to the right.
I love this music.Probably best music in all tw series in my opinion.Im going to be very happy in this release if rome 2 dont ruin reputation of ca and tw games.I feel like deceived in rome 2.But its still look good.
Is Rome II’s Roma or Attila’s Roma bigger?
Wow amazing, hopefully this time. The huns are capable of getting to Rome at least on medium difficultly since the roman empire is now weak
still waiting for battle between the buildings ... that would be amazing in that city
Why didnt they put wall around the city???
Werilla Marcus Johang They did, are you blind or something?
og total war music 1:00
Music?
rome 1 soundtrack is so amazing!
Looks really nice. Far better than the Rome of Rome II, which had fake bridges and was very unbalanced.
Meh they got it mostly right but alot of monuments are still missing, also why the hell didn't they just model the rest of the city going to the horizon like they did in empire? That would have been better
Makes me want to play Caesar IV and build the city of Rome all over again.
Rome 1 had such great music
do you wanna do a 3 v 3 on this map maybe? that will be awesome (google transelate OP)
wow i never appreciated that music and her voice so much in total war 1..
+1! more music city views! very very epic
This looks like that preview of Rome II, the siege of Carthage.
What is that music!?!?!?
Do one for Constantinople
Roma total war 1 song is legend
Divinitus Rome Total War I excellent !
rome 1 had the best soundtrack in the entire total war series.
Very well done, if somewhat lacking in color...
the pallet is to dark other than that Rome looks cool
Best non modern cities in any video game
they really better not be lying to us on this
idk it's not like they'd lied to our face before not sure how someone can be such a fan boy and still trust them completely....Siege of Carthage anyone?
^exactly.
yes we are ....CA gave him and many other UA-camrs copies specific copies
***** you saying I don't understand where you find skepticism in the look of Rome when it's being shoved in front of your face makes you a fan boy , your defending Rome after what happend last time ? LOL
***** saying i don't like the franchise becuase i didn't like what happend with the iinitial release is cute , and yes yes you did set it as a reply to me
Looks like a pretty depressing city to me.
Constantinople plz
Wow. That American singer really butchered that latin
