  • This video reviews a Bestway Saluspa Inflatable Hot Tub purchased in December of 2022. In the video the hot tub is cleaned, examined, and a real general review of the overall purchase. So Far I am happy to say that the tub is holding up to my expectations.
    The Hot Tub gets to a max temp of 104F and maintains very well in the summer months. In the winter it reaches 104F and maintains pretty well, Running the bubbles when its 20F or lower seems to lower the temp a bit faster. But usually its good for a hour long soak if not more in the winter!
    We use the tub often and it does accumulate some debris on the bottom a vacuum may help. Cleaning / exchanging the water is helpful as well, in this video the tub is cleaned and renewed with fresh well water. The Rust does clean up after rinsing the filter a few times initially. I should probably do that more frequently but you know how that goes.
    **edit 7/09/24: i recently picked up a spa skimmer and really enjoy the way it grabs floaties in the spa water (grass clippings, bugs, leaves, etc.) I will add a link below for the skimmer i picked up!

    During the cold winter months ,could the heater keep the water temperature above 90° ?

    • @michigantreetops
      @michigantreetops  10 місяців тому +5

      Good question, my experience was that the top on and I placed 2” foam board over top that inflatable topper. If was able to maintain the 104F
      However with top off it does loose temp fast. Id estimate temp falls to 95 within 40 minutes depending on temp and the bubble option seems to take heat away faster. I tend to relax mostly and use bubbles sparingly in winter months. But I honestly like getting out of the tub at 96-99 degrees F it leaves me comfortable when going inside.

    • @adamgerald849
      @adamgerald849 10 місяців тому +4

      The bubbles blow air from outside into the water so they cool it down fast if it's cool outside. And it takes about 2° per hour to heat up with the top on. If you want to use it when it's cool out you should buy some extra insulation to put around it to help. It's 50° right now and it's taking all day to heat up which is normal but it's at 96° right now at 5pm so it should be hot enough by night time.
      It's only a 120v heater so it will take forever to heat it up to 104° and you'll probably have to start the day before. I just turn mine on Friday night before bed so I know it'll be ready Saturday night.

    You said you inflate with a hand pump. I was wondering about that since you would have to unhook to use the spa pump? I see the intex spa you just put up has a separate pump. Which is nice.

    Hi there,
    Thank you so much for making this video. You’ve helped me decide if I want to buy one of these tubs. I think I will! One question for you, do you have it out all winter? We live in Ontario, Canada so our winters are very cold, sometimes -30 degrees Celsius. Wondering if it can withstand that and not freeze if the heater is left on?

      No problem glad that I could help, in the owners manual it does mention something about not going below I think 14°F you should read the owners manual of the tub you’re interested in and be aware of what is stated. Also this is from the manufacturer regarding winter use: bestwayusa.com/blog/4-tips-for-winterizing-your-inflatable-hot-tub.html
      I wish I could give you an answer regarding the temperatures you mentioned unfortunately it does not get that cold for that long very often at all where we live. I’m sure I’ve neared the 14°F and a little below it before in my case with no problems, I just want you to be educated and know that I’m not certain how it would go.

    • @michigantreetops

      I believe I think I does help, the bottom is thin but there is some padding on the tub bottom, I was worried that the cold under the deck would steal my heat. I also would do it if I put it on the ground.
      It also adds some extra cushion for the tub bottom.

      I put down 2” of foam insulation because I was worried about loosing heat from beneath, the floor of the tub is not very thick it does have some padding. Sometimes the foam sticks to the tub, I may put a blanket in between tub and foam to help prevent that. But I think this helps I got it from Lowe’s.

      It’s weird because in the winter I noticed 70-80 additional per month at 104F. Sometime if I knew it wouldn’t get used for a few days I’d drop it to 99F. Then all summer long it seemed to be almost the same maybe a little less I guess we were running some window unit ac’s so probably was cheaper. We’re in Michigan where temps were between 13-35F all winter long.

      Bromine is a sanitizer that can be used in hot tubs instead of chlorine. It's more stable at higher temperatures, has less odor, and is resistant to sunlight. Bromine is available in tablets, powder, or liquid form. The ideal bromine level for a hot tub is between 3-5 parts per million (ppm). The number of tablets needed depends on the hot tub's volume and current levels. Bromine tablets can take up to a week to dissolve.
