Looks like a ton of real work. But good to see you doing it correctly. You could even cut holes in the new metal to allow you to plug weld it as well, for even more strength... Thumbs Up
Is it the chassis frame of that Toyota was a ladder or unibody/monocoque....................? Was the theory , is to replace another New bar plate into that chassis frame............? How do you do that ................. ? And did you use tig welder or ordinary electrical welder..........? And how was thick , that New bar plate that you replace.........how much millimeter..................?
Lincoln SP-135 plus same basic mug welder I’ve been using for 35 years. The TIG welding machine I use in other videos for welding roll cages is a square wave 175. Thanks for the comment thanks for watching
I live in the mountains of WNC. Toyota truck frames will not hold up. I have two cousins that have had to have a complete frame replacement. One was a tacoma, the other was a tundra, in less than 5 years. I have a 2000 ranger with barely any frame damage. Until toyota fixes their bad metal issues, I have no desire to own one!
@Jvcomet I agree, Toyota makes a very good vehicle, but I don't want that kind of headache to deal with. Toyota fixed both frames at no cost. But the Tacoma was at the dealership for 6 months.

i have a 02 4runner i recently bought, similar in that the inside on both sides is just about gone, transmission crossmember barley together and 1 of the rear tails on the frame for the hitch is rough, any intrest in working on it? im about a hour from millvile
Am considering to buy 2009 Tacoma in Nigeria what of after buying I just add another solid steel to the frame to protect it from routing at all how about that?
Great work! I will be doing this to my 06 in the next couple of years. My brother is on his 3rd dodge RAM in the time ive owned the Tacoma. If i can keep the body together on this thing. It will outlive 5 domestic trucks. So if they're shit. What are we calling the domestics? 😂

Thanks for commenting on this video. Can’t change it now ,but your correct on the undercoating if I get another one to do I would stonily suggest otherwise. 👍
I just don't understand the point of it. I used to live in the rust belt; when the frame or unibody started going bad on my car, that's when I knew it was time to get rid of it. I wouldn't replace it with a new car, just a car that wasn't rusty underneath
@@Jvcomet It works but doing any work on the truck sucks but with one winter with it on there's rust on spots I missed and if you go with it do yearly touch-ups if fall.

Amazing work-thanks for sharing!
Your welcome thanks for watching 👍
was great right up to the point when you sprayed on the "undercoating", which will crack, load up with salt and rot out the frame again.
Tidybart Ziebart r00lz!!! Rusts out greaaaat!!! Also, you want to leave the crap inside the frame so it holds moisture and rots out again!!!
Good work ! Gives me hopes on my GX470 frame repair
Yea they’re fixable. Good luck with it. Thanks for watching
Crazy how much rust.
I got a 1994 extended cab frame in excellent condition.
4x4 pickup.
Your one of the lucky ones 👍
Great video !!!!
Appreciate it thanks for watching
OH man I just did this to my 2001 Tacoma and it had no were near as much rust as this. but the frame is way stiffer and rides much better.
Yep once you put the reinforcement pieces on it rides so much better. Not like a slinky going down the road 😂

Ou need to fill those box frames with oil ! Might drip out and be a little messy, but beats doing this rot repair.
You know he is an old school mechanic because he doesn't wear no face or respirator protection. He is immune to it😅. Nice work

Hello we’re to buy the reinforcements pieces That you welded thanks
I have them made for me from a sheet metal shop
Note@most shops will not do.because of liability.had a Chevy wagon with that issue.i wanted to save it they said junk it.
Yep. Sucks a lot of vehicles get scrapped 😫

Do you need water drainage holes for the frame..
If it doesn’t have any , yes. This had plenty holes 😫

You could but if it’s still good. Clean it and coat it with a chassis paint. 😆
@@Jvcomet so with that it will not route again and how often will I need to be coating it?
Just keep it clean if you use it during the winter when they salt the roads.
@@Jvcomet am going to be using in Nigeria though the roads are bad but nothing like snow or salt on the road
I'm in NJ too. I have a sequoia that I would like done the same way. Can I bring it by and you give me a quote?

You got the got the foreign shit and domestic shit all a bunch of shit 😂
I don’t see any rust protection underneath was not on camera?
Sprayed it all black with rustoleom
The scary part is that if there wasn't holes in that bad side you could paint it and it would look pretty decent because they rust from the inside out
That’s the problem with these frames. Once you see it it too late. 😫. Thanks for watching 👍
where is your shop located?
At my house. Millville NJ
What would be the price for this frame repair?
Depends on the extent of the repair but like the ones in the video they’re about 1200 bucks per side
