i wish more of the hunting entertainment community was as raw and focused as this is. i get so tired of the over commercialized latest and greatest junk that creates unrealistic expectations. this is real hunting and woodsmanship, something that is becoming increasingly hard to find.

This is a video about deer hunting that was long overdue. The fact that you picked your cameraman knowing that his beliefs are not aligned with yours, and the fact that he went into it open minded shows that we can find common ground. His cinematography was excellent and somehow caught more than just the hunt. It caught the almost spiritual reason that we head north and take on a deer under the deer's conditions. If I wanted to kill a deer, just for the sake of killing a deer, I'd stay home and shoot one off my back deck. Hunting is way more than that to me. You guys managed to capture that here. Great job Lee!

That the film maker could keep up with you, Lee, and capture every aspect of the hunt is nothing short of miraculous. So, too, is his portrayal of your thinking and what's behind your deer hunting. I’ve hunted extensively in Alaska, I’ve guided hunters for big-game in Alaska since I was 16. I’ve hunted big-game in the mountains and the plains of the western states dozens and dozens of times. I’ve taken big game with archery, rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun slugs and handgun. I’ve hunted white-tailed deer in many states, but I’ve ALWAYS wanted to hunt a big buck whitetail since I read about Larry Benoit and just like depicted in this film. Before I die I’m going to. I think this week I’ll go out and get a 1970 vintage Remington 760 with open sights.

This video is a true example of what deer hunting used to be and what it should be today. No food plots or fields filled with 20 or 30 deer at a time. Not that I have a problem with that however the most rewarding things in life are those which we have to really work for. This kind of big woods hunting brings a hunter to an almost spiritual level with nature.

Just found this video. Salute to ya! When you said "it doesn't matter if your knees hurt or your back is sore..."
I ground hunt like this in Southeast Kentucky - walking in, playing the wind. In all weather conditions. Got a tenpoint at 15 yards in archery - gave me the full sneak stare down for 7-8 minutes. When he turned after some does, that was all she wrote!
    Appreciate you effort here!

When I say we are sportsmen this is the person to whom I refer. When I tell you about the heritage of hunting this is the person you should think about. We have grown up with these basic tenants. We learned from those who came before us. We go into nature with our skills of woodsman ship and our physical ability. It is an endeavor that we cherish.
    Well done Sir.

Getting a little bit misty-eyed. That was Maine deer hunting the way my late Dad taught me. There's so much more to it than just killing. It's about making memories to last a lifetime.
    Thank you.

    Loved the documentary....so true.
Kudos to my fellow hunter....I've hunted Mt. Katahdin and Turner in Maine. Beautiful country.
    Nice deer....biggens in Maine.
Lee must know the Benoits....big trackers too.
    Best from Catskill Mtns. NY.

4:56 into this video and I already love it. My first deer rifle was a Remington, 35 caliber pump. This style of deer hunting has always been my preferred method. Yes, I have spent a great deal of time sitting in tree stands and killed a lot of deer that way, but stalking and tracking the big woods with a rifle in hand is where my passion lies.

I was up there last week, no snow and no buck. Saw a few does first light/first day and one doe last light/last day. My friend harvested a buck, but the rest of us just enjoyed the hunt and being in the North Maine Woods. Maybe next year, maybe next week somewhere else...failure is not an option.

Fantastic. Rangely isn't but a hop and skip from where I grew up hunting the woods. Cold, snowy mornings reminds me of the Johnson wool and wood stove at camp

You end the hunt the way I end the hunt.
I love heart, especially deer heart.
I think it's the best part of a deer, as far as flavor and texture.
That is how I end my deer hunts, eating his heart.
I enjoyed your hunt, and like your hunting technique, I chase bull elk down just like that.

Great film Lee! I put it on the tv so my friends could enjoy it with me and we all loved it. Much respect for the BWB crew and hope to get my butt up there soon.

I don’t tend to watch UA-cam videos from start to finish. However, this was so beautifully filmed that I couldn’t resist watching every second.
    Thank you
