Great splice. To get that last bit sucked back in, use a winch to put a heavy load on it and something a little larger , like an under size eyelet that fits inside the eye of the splice that it rounded, so it won't bind. Former BM3 USCG
Never hassle a woman with scissors, Teal. I've loved your projects since watching you plug through holes in Seattle (Basik, not the city) during the plague
Nice job Linh and Emma! Linh I know how confusing doing an eye splice is on that line the first time. I was trying to read it out of a book and was sure it was going to wind up in a giant knot but it didn't. Three strand splices are much easier. Well done.
I've been watching your videos for a long time and as a father of 2 18 year old boys, it's very interesting to me, how Emma has developed over the past few years. Today I have to compliment you Emma, you have greatly improved the way you comment on videos. For me as a German, your voice is now much easier to understand in this video because you speak much more clearly and slowly, and your voice has become a little deeper for that. Now I understand you without subtitles. Excellent!
Thanks Jerry! I have to admit, it was a pretty cool feeling when it all pulled and cinched up at the end. We always look forward to seeing your comments. Cheers!
Teal, your injury was a blessing in disguise. The ladies have really stepped up. Their confidence is going through the roof and you are doing such an awesome job of getting them up to speed. What an amazing family you have!!!❤
Linh knocked it out of the park this episode!!! Emma is becoming an even better deckhand. The more new tasks they take on the more their confidence will build.
Thanks! To be honest, Emma and I both know how to do these chores, but we like to play to our strengths. It is nice to be able to shore up one another when one of us is down though.
Great job ladies! Makes me think of Rosie the Riveter poster-“We Can Do It!” 💪🏼👍 ! Hope you know how lucky you are Teal !?! Y’all stay safe and healthy ⛵️
Was so nice to see how Linh and Emma step up to get things done that Teal would normally do. In the long run it will only make them stronger sailors. Was also very pleasant to see how well Teal and Linh were to each other through the frustration of doing things even when not comfortable. You are such an inspiration to so many others on how a family can be. Fair winds and following sea's
Thanks David! It's nice that we are capable of jumping in to take over when one of us is down. As much as we sometimes get frustrated, it makes the jobs better when you can laugh at yourself. Cheers!
The captain is fortunate to have such a competent crew. He is living my dream. I always wanted to go to sea with an all girl crew. LOL. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
In the future girls to make it a lot easier for you when Teal whips out again, if you have to use the crimper, the two of you, one of you can support it the other one can tie a tourniquet around it, and twist, that way you’ll get a lot more leverage to be able to make the crimp,
OMG. I was laughing so hard with the rope fiding (am I using this correctly?). This was such a couple's exercise. Excellent job Linh and great coaching Teal!
To me Teal is the crew. Mom and daughter are captain and first officer. He is the grease monkey and handyman on board. A Captain of a vessel reduced to maintenance ? The big decisions re destinations are probably taken by mom... and when she says enough is enough that is when the captain speaks
It’s funny how we don’t really know how much we are each contributing to a relationship/organization/crew until one of the group is knocked out for a while!!
You are absolutely correct about that. We think we know how much the other person does, but not really know until we are in their shoes. Thanks for watching!
Okay, I have to comment on this: you guys are tied up across from a Chris White Atlantic 42, "Lightspeed," and then at 1:44 you show an Atlantic 47 (with twin MastFoils) sailing past the docks. Are you guys trying to tell us something? Also, that sail loft looks like a great setup, from time to time they could clear things out and host a big luau! And it was a good clinic watching Linh working on the topping lift. She did a great job!
