I had the wave box, she do a better wave than other device. The problem, she is noisy, it had to took her off.and even if she move the water, it is not enough for the corals you have to ad a pump.
While I think this product is obscene on every front, I love watching Thomas describe it! I'd tune in to watch describe corraline growing. He's just got that X factor, excellent addition to the BRS juggernaut!
For all those worried about a sump you could do an overhead sump that overflows into the display tank. That would get rid of any overflow sloshing sounds. The way my overflow is setup it doesn't make any extra noise and I have waves going across from Gyre350. That being said it is a built in overflow and the stand pipes are only an inch below the teeth of the weir. HOB and canister filtered tanks would also work. I current don't trust my production tank with the stress but perhaps my next tank I will take the stress into consideration when building it. As it was said in the video not every option will be great for every setup but I can certainly see how this would be a great fit for some systems.
I had a dump bucket wave maker on a 29 gal oceanic tank for 5 + years. Worked well and am still using the tank with no issues. I finally got rid of the dump bucket because I got tired of the wave surf sound every 13 seconds. I have an in tank overflow at the far end of the tank so the wave would slosh into the overflow. The other consideration is the overall water level of the tank has to lower to account for the wave height. The Tunze unit seems like a better solution than the dump bucket wave maker. No matter what mods I made there was always an issue with salt creep because of the bubbles made when the bucket emptied. I'll consider the Tunze unit on my next rebuild.
looks awesome, but i wish your tank in this video was running correctly, like water going down the overflow and seeing the waves then rather than water level lowered.
I use it on my 50 gallon lagoon, it’s awesome, and not really loud after it breaks in. I have the controller in the thumbnail tho, but ditched it and use my apex. When did they start using the new controller?
Good to hear that Thomas is growing on you 🙂 Randy and Ryan are still filming videos too. Randy's videos hit every Friday with Ryan's videos being a little more sporadic. Ryan's videos should pick back up again once his tank gets moved to his house
Thomas Burton thanks for the quick reply guys!!! One more question, could those and the back glass of the reefer 250 support my 36” Aquaticlife hybrid with a pair of xr15s?
Ultimately I want to help reefers find the right equipment for them, so if any given piece of gear has limitations or considerations, I will make sure to let you know. Not every cool piece of reef tech is going to be a good fit for everyone, and I want to make sure people get what is right for them!
Wave makers in aquariums just make corals look ridiculous...it is such a slower serene affair in the back and forth of the wild, and just a jarring metronome in the confines of an aquarium
A wave box like this is not necessary on a small tank. My eflux does the exact same thing this large box does. Trust me it is EXACTLY the same but with a regular powerhead.
Sure the lifespan on the aquarium is reduced... but the more immediate problem is shown in this video, your water is sloshing back and forth and how is that affecting the overflow. This video alone shows the water inches below the overflow teeth showing that type of tank is absolutely not recommended for those tanks, and even if you make the wave very small chances are you're going to get bursts of water going into your overflow. That said I have a 300g lagoon on the floor with only viewing from the top (no silicone seals to break or acrylic seams to fail) and at least 5 inches of play from the edge to the water height. So this may be an interesting choice. Although the tank is more oval shape so not sure if it would actually do much in it, I know it's super easy to get a gyre going with 15 watts of pumps (although I do use more to get some cross flow so the center isn't a dead spot).
Valid points, Mike. I think the reason you see the demonstration tank so empty and not reaching the overflows is due to Thomas still being in the building stages of the tank (meaning it's not currently running). However for the purposes of demonstration and with limited access to the amount and type of tanks like we have here at BRS HQ, he had to work with what he had. :)
Not too far away from the truth, but to be fair we only had 2x in stock when this video went out. Hahaha! We'll definitely be getting more inventory as more and more suppliers return to normal business/logistics operations. I wish we could get stuff in faster, but at the end of the day the entire globe is feeling similar constraints.
@@BRStv Ive said it before and will always. You guys are the best. keep up the great work. you're selling out because people love you and not because you're sellouts!
Thomas is way past too energetic. When watching Randy and Ryan, I felt like I was getting good advice from fellow reefers, and I watched basically every second of their content. I stopped this video, about a product I was interested in, at 46 seconds. He's pushed me to find a new channel for my reefing advice.
Who has attempted to make a wave in their tanks? Have you tried the Tunze Wavebox?
What about a red sea tank 425xl??
Those are pretty awesome tanks, and this Tunze Wavebox would definitely fit! :)

Would it work in my 70L tank? The smaller device is rated from 150-300L
My tank is 3 ft x 5/6 wide x 1
I have done it easily with a pair of Tunze Nanostream 6040s in a Red Sea Reefer 200xl without even using their master/slave cable.
I know when i see a Thomas vid i need to adjust my volume ;) 🍻
Yup

Evening from London hope all you guys are safe and well...
Take care fish friend 🍻 :)

I seen this 5 years back in a 120 with a perfect wave
I remember back in the day rocking the DIY tunze wavebox lol
This guy is awesome!!!
YOU. ARE AWESOME WITH ENERGY! AND INFORMATION IS ABUNDANT!!! THANK YOU

Merci pour ta vidéo !!! 👍👍👍
“We always upgrade”
Yes we do, This is the way...
The way he says detritus is so funny😂😂
Thomas is a beast🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Can you guys do a video demonstrating how to get standing wave with two Nero 3s in 40 breeder?
Can you do review of the VCA RFG? I would love to see your thoughts on it.
So if I wanted to get that standing wave with my two Nero 3’s in a 36” tank where should I place them and what should I set them to?
This guy ist so crazy 😁 i love IT 😁
In a 30G SPS tank, is one Tunze Wavebox enough without other wave makers?
Since when Thomas apart of brs? 😂😂 hey I don't even care i see Thomas I click
Would you consider this much safer on anemones than normal power Heads? (Less chance of them getting chopped up)
I would say that's a fair assumption to make
What kind of mount do you have on the reefer 250 in the background? TIA
Looks like he's using two of the Kessil Mounting Arms to suspend that hybrid fixture. :)
Yep!
Pair of Kessil arms haha.
Thomas Burton thanks for the quick reply guys!!! One more question, could those and the back glass of the reefer 250 support my 36” Aquaticlife hybrid with a pair of xr15s?
It started as a positive review and then I think he was trying not to sell it?

Could you use a wavebox with gyres?
Absolutely!
anyone know of a silent wavebox?
Clicked because I saw Thomas.
I definitely want and NEED THIS
It is to noisy I took mine off

Every time I see a Thomas video I think when did Vince Offler ( the sham wow guy) get out of jail?
It's weird that you think that *every time*. You got a crush on the sham wow guy? Why are you thinking about him so much?

I make a lot of sound, it is just to noisy I had it and yes bad with the over flow.
the next product tp sell out on the site

May this tunes wavebox works aside some mp40s ?
You can use the wavebox in conjunction with just about any flow solution so long as the powerheads you're using remain under water at all times.
Why does every host SHOUT?
This
It’s so annoying
Why did they write his script in all caps?
You mean "why did he write his own script in all caps" ;)
300 bucks and monstrosity in my tank for what my jebao does for 60 bucks lol
I feel the same. Anyway structure wave is noisy. It makes your tank sound like beach as water gush into overflow. I turn it off after a while.
Why is always shouting ?.
If this has so many problems why would I buy it just saying 😃🤪🤷♂️
was a cool video till the dude ruined it..get another person to do it so we can actually watch it

Jim Bruckner yes. They need to hear this feedback
Yup
First one to comment again 2 for 2
Lol
