Thank you so much for the video, made mine today. I used 5/16" hardware, bolts, tee nuts and eye bolts, wing nuts and washers. Came out great, although I must say, it took longer than i expected. You made it look pretty easy
very cool. I'll be building something similar. I will be using regular lag bolts so i can use my drill or impact to tighten them all down. And use a piece of Melamine for the clamping surface where it touches the flag so it does not get stuck to the flag every time.
On your horizontal eye bolts, are you putting a metal face or some type of hard surface, where you tighten against the board that squeezes the flag? I feel after a few times, the eye bolts will start screwing into the wood? I really like this design of this. Can't wait to watch more. Thanks for sharing your idea.
I reckon I'm not thinking probably or I'm missing something. How is one clamping jig better then one set of clamps? As far as doing more then one set of flags is concerned. I get that this will do a tremendously better job then a several bar clamps but I don't see how this "streamlines" and helps glue more then one flag at a time.
Your right that one jig will not glue more than one flag. I guess my idea at the time was that I might make more jigs if I ever needed to crank flags out. I've made many flags since then but never felt the need to make more jigs. Honestly, was one time that I batched 10 flags but I used a system that didn't involve this jig. I've been thinking of a follow up video. Thanks for commenting!
@wooddoofus I was just wondering if I was missing something. How long do you feel that a piece needs to stay clamped up before removing? I know wood glue isn't cured for 24 hours but think maybe it clamping could be removed in 4 to 6 hours.
I've heard that wood glue is set in roughly 2 hours which would be enough to unclamp some things. With flags, I would let them stay clamped over night since there might be more joint stress with untrue wood strips.
No significant sticking with this one. The flooring that I used doesn't stick to glue. Covering the whole thing in packaging tape could help too. I've seen people use PVC rails. I make sure the squeeze it in the top u is minimal but you can cover the braces on packing tape. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for checking my video out. Sounds like your system came out stong!
Great job, WD. I'm gonna make one.
Thanks for checking it out!
This is a really great idea and seems pretty simple, thank you 🌸🌺🌸🌺
Thanks for looking!

Awesome! Let me know if there's any way I can see a pic of what you come up with. Thanks for watching!

You nailed it! When I noticed them starting to screw in to the wood. I added something with a hard surface to take the force. Thanks for watching!
***Just posted another flag jig for applying the stars on the union. Be sure to check out out!!

Do you have issues with glue squeeze out causing the flag stick to the base or braces?

Could you make a list of items used and dimensions of cuts? Thanks
Sure. I'll edit the description when I get the chance.
I put the hardware used in the description. I think the length of the 2x2s depends on the size of your individual flag. Thanks for looking!
@@wooddoofus thank you
Guess what, Zip?
First!
Ya nailed it bro!👍
