I've remembered the day we played the same game for 2 or 3 years because we love it... Now we play 10 games at one single year and just enjoy it for a few weeks and nevermore play it again
For the winner, it’s always been a three-way fight between Astro Bot, Metaphor, & Rebirth. Nobody else has a chance. For fighting game, Tekken 8 better win.
@@Neoxon619 Why surprised. Wukong was an anticipated game that for the most part deliver on the fans expectation. It already won Game of the Year (Joystick). It may win the next one.
Kenson’s work has always exuded a level of ethos other channels try to emulate and the no cap is a reflection of his continued maturity and confidence matching the level of his content.
3:10 My family and I played through Astro Bot and Plucky Squire while taking turns on the controller or in different save files. We play Mario Party Jamboree together and have a fun time. But nothing brought us together like Astro Bot.
It is an interesting take to say Rebirth doesn't win a single award at TGA (well Best Performance wasn't discussed so thats the exception). Not to say that couldn't happen, but it is still interesting. Most people predict it will win one of the 7 Nominations it received. That would be painful for the fans of Rebirth if it didn't win any of the awards.
FF7 Rebirth deserves it most imo, and i enjoyed it most If a DLC wins goty then im done with any critic awards because to me they just lost all credibility Its a great game, no doubt, but it uses the bones of a game that's already won It's not a game built from scratch and even needs the previous winner to play it lol I don't get how the heck it was nominated
The game awards have become a bit of a joke due to whose deciding the winners 90% people who dont game from companies funding the event and 10% who do it's pointless even having a consumer vote
I would be more interested in the Awards if they were an actual celebration of games and the people who make them. Instead it feels like a celebration of the business part (and Geoff himself) as most of the awards are pushed in mere seconds and those that gets a time in the spotlight better not dare step on Geoff's rented time spots. Last time made me feel like I was wasting my time, not anymore. I won't be watching it this time. I'll check the trailers I'm interested in after the fact on my own time.
Black myth wukong broke records left and right and yet the media refuses to include it in the goty discussions, theres no reason why it shouldnt win it.
I've missed a few videos, so when did you decide to stop wearing the beanies and show off the ol' chrome dome? To be honest, it kind of looks like all your hair melted off of the top of your head and slid down your face. Not that that's a bad thing.
it's going to Metaphor. it's easily the most overrated and undercriticized game this year, but the jury that picks these awards is not going to go with anything else.
Rebirth was my GOTY before it came out 😂 it is one of the best video games I’ve ever played and one of my favourites! I really hope it wins! Astro Bot is great & Echoes of Wisdom is awesome (I’m cheesed that despite it being a 2024 game, freakin Eldin ring dlc has a spot for GOTY & Zelda doesn’t 😐) Anyways, I voted for Metroid Prime 4 for most anticipated game for next year, but it’s up against GTA VI so we all know what’s gonna win that category 😅
it's insane how massively FF7 Rebirth is underestimated in the GOTY question, even though it is logically the absolute Front Runner it is by far the most ambitious game of the year in terms of production (quality/values) and fulfills the stereotypical requirements of a product that falls within the scope of an Oscar-like show like TGA, mind you Rebirth came out in February and was not only consistently referred to as GOTY2024 by critics and fans, but really every newly released GOTY contender was compared to FF7 Rebirth I think FF7 Rebirth is the absolute benchmark this year and when we see how many different mechanics, variations, music, content, lore, characters and size this game offers, it has literally taken JRPGs to a whole new level, there is no JRPG on Rebirth's level. hence FF7 Rebirth is the frontrunner followed by SOTE / Wukong (yes Wukong has a bad critic consensus but mainstream media also vote on GOTY)
One small clarification: The critics and the mainstream media are kinda the same here. Either way, Wukong did start getting more love from them later on. But to your main point, Rebirth did seem like the clear favorite earlier in the year. However, FF has always had its detractors. There will be some who will say anything but FF7Rb. Add to it the recency bias against it, and Rebirth no longer has that Frontrunner status.
@ not really 8 out of 10 of the last goty winners appeared in the first half of the year, including 5 games in the first 4 month • Dragon Age Inquisition - November • The Witcher 3 - May • Overwatch - May • Breath of the Wild - March • God of War - April • Sekiro - March • The Last of Us Part II - June • It takes Two - March • Elden Ring - February • Baldur’s Gate 3 - August
@@mayrokspsn9068 I wouldn't say the recency bias applies just because a game came out before July. It matters what the competition is and when that competition came out. For example, some would say there was recency bias when comparing BG3 with TotK. When you look at Elden Ring, it was already viewed as GOTY before it was released. That said, you do show some good exceptions. Like GOW winning over RDR2.
@@everyneed3959people said the same thing with BG3(turn-based) and It take two(platform) can't win, and then what happened? There's no rule that jrpg can't win.
Imho Metaphor deserves game of the year by far. I've played every game nominated for GOTY except Black Myth Wukong and it's an easy pick for me. Astro Bot is my second pick and then FFIV Rebirth.
When the cap comes off I click immediately because I feel like something special is going on.

haven't seen it yet

I agree!
Kevin with no cap doesn’t exist, he can’t hurt you.
Kevin with no cap : 🧑🦲

Not BG3
Just won Astro Bot, Game of the year. Reuniting the legacy of 30 years from playstation was worth it.
Holy shit why did UA-cam stop recommending you to me? I forgot how great this channel was
Stellar Blade is a Surefire Win 🏆⭐️⚔️
Nope.
Final Fantasy!

Pretty weird to see Kevin without a beanie
Disappointed Persona 3 Reload has no nomination. Not even for music
20 hours in and I can’t vibe with metaphor, I just don’t get it. Rebirth ftw
I am never excited for the awards portion of TGA since it felt rigged. It’s the new game/DLC announcements that excites me more.
Biggest Metaphor fan
12:59 Best narrative: 1000xResist
Elden Ring DLC will
Still cant get over the beanie being off
I voted for Metaphor across the board. Love it.
I changed my GOTY vote after playing Balatro. I cannot believe one man made it.
