Rossi Brawler .410 / .45 Colt Shooting Review - I Love This Single Shot Firearm!

- This unique single shot shotgun is fun to shoot, accurate and very powerful. Watch as my son and I put a lot of rounds through this Rossi pistol.
I rarely comment in the comments section, but I bought a Rossi Brawler. This is one of those guns you say to yourself, I don't know what I would use it for, but then you get one and immediately like it and start finding all kinds of uses for it. First and foremost, it is built tough. I bought a Rossi 20 gauge single shot shot gun 20 some years ago and let a friend borrow it while squirrel hunting in Kentucky. After we were done, we unloaded our guns and he leaned it against my truck. I thought he had put it back in the truck and I drove away, backing over it and then going over it forward as we left the woods. We got a few miles down the road and he asked if I put the shotgun in the truck and I said no, thought you did. We went back I got it. Stock was a little marked up, took it to the local old gunsmith. He looked at it and said looks good to me, put a shell in it, took a shot a stump out back of his shop and said, it's fine. I still have that shotgun. The Brawler is built like that. It's easy to shoot and easy to clean and maintain and a hell of a lot of fun to shoot, both with 45 long colt and 410 shells. My friend, my son and I took it to the range and put a few boxes of both 410 and 45 LC through it. No issues with either. We used both 3 inch and 2 and a half inch shells. With 45 LC we found it to be pretty accurate at 30 yards. We were able to hit a 12 inch plate at 30 yards consistently with iron sites. We mounted a rather inexpensive reflex red dot on it and once sighted in the accuracy improved and we consistently hit a 9 inch plate. So, fun gun to shoot at the range aside, here at the practical applications for the Brawler. It's single shot, so it forces you to slow down and use the fundamentals of shooting, grip, site picture, breath control and trigger squeeze, greatly improving or solidifying your shooting skills. It's great to use to teach shooting with. Loaded with self defense shells, we were trying out Sellier and Bellot 410 self defense shells consisting of 15 smaller pellets and 2 double 00 buck shot pellets and shooting at distances of 6 to 12 feet, which are common self defense situation distances and we had great results on pattern and accuracy at those distances. So the Brawler can be an effective home defense gun as well. It's easily packable and would be great when hiking in the woods, carrying as an extra side arm on a long hunt, using as a camp gun when camping, and for taking care of nuisance or varmint animals when legal or necessary. (Think skunks, groundhogs, snakes, etc.) Truth is there are many uses for this gun. If you can think of more uses, please let me know. Best of all, its $250 or less brand new and their are a few companies out there making really nice holsters for them too. My 18 year old son doesn't share the same passion for shooting as I do, (unless it involves shooting on his video games) and every time I buy a new firearm and show him, I can usually see dollar signs in his eyes as he thinks, when Dad is gone I can get good money for his collection.......but after shooting the Brawler he looked at me for the first time and said Dad, I'm keeping this one, I like it. I said, son I don't plan on going anytime soon so go get your own Brawler dammit. In conclusion, I have dozens of firearms, some hand guns in the $1,000-$2,000 range. I buy and sell and try new stuff out because I just like to shoot. (20 plus years as a soldier and 16 years and counting as a Deputy sheriff) I am a shooter not a collector, but I aint never parting with my Brawler. It is just that much fun and plenty useful. Good review as always mixup98 !!!
Hello Jeffrey. You're right, it is one of those guns that seems impractical until you actually shoot it. It's fun, powerful and it's cool to watch the empty cases fly through the air when ejected. Thank you for the excellent comment and your feedback is greatly appreciated.
I can see why you rarely comment. Took you 2 days to write that. Wow!
😅😂🤣 Just poke'n fun
😎👍
Single shot firearms are a lot of fun. I don’t think people realize… it helps you slow down, get back to basics, and work on sight alignment, sight picture, breathing, and trigger squeeze.
Some poor rich kid in Summerlin just lost his mind, because he just saw his stolen Alfa that got dumped in the desert get wrecked by gun fire. Can't think of a whole lot of reasons for this gun other than exist and I want one. Very cool looking gun. Great video as always.
👍😁
Exactly what I was thinking, wow!
Stolen Alpha? Uhm, who cares other than the parents who bought the pile for their entitled brat child who took it for a nightime desert drunken joyride, and got it stuck in the middle.of nowhere, then claimed it as 'stolen' because in drunken idiocracy, they don't remember where they left it..
No worries, parent's Insurance will cover it.
😂😂😂
Cool gun! The inexpensive guns can be just as much fun as the expensive guns. As always, thanks for sharing.
But with this the ammo price takes away the fun.
Great content ! Very underrated guntuber! Been watchin for years.
Much appreciated Stevie 👍😎 😎👍
Agree, under-rated. He manages good content with healthy family values and a keen affection for nature.
What a cool little piece
Me too. I have to add his son as well.
Another great video from Mixup & Son!!!
Fun little guns! I make holsters for the Brawler.
Marc, can the Brawler handle higher than 14000psi, Standard Pressure 45 colt loads
@@randyadams03 Sorry, Randy, nothing in the owners book regarding pressures. No slugs and no +P is all it says.
Thanks, Standard Pressure makes sense
Make me one 😊
Yes he does, as well as dang near anything else you might want leather holster wise. He made me one for my Rock Island M206 and it's a great holster and very well crafted. Marc is a great dude too. Check him out! 👍
Perfect gun for my rattlesnake problem here in Southern Utah. Thanks for the video.
Pretty cool little plinker, and for the price you can't beat it.
A rainy Saturday in Southern California. A perfect night to watch another video from Mixup98! 😊
👍😎 👍😁
Another thoroughly enjoyable episode men. I really like the things you two test as they are something I can afford. I've now purchased 2 Bushnell TRS 25's because of your program. I have a PC Carbine and a 1022. The best part, you guys make me smile because you are having fun. This world needs a whole lot more of that. God Bless you both.
Oh Mix's videos have cost my wallet dearly over the years....
@@stonefree1911 Cost me what I could afford unlike Taran Tactical where I could never afford anything.
They work well together. I always look forward to the next episode.
You are defiantly my favorite gun channel. You always get great deals. Waiting for the video when you say "So I was at my local pawn shop and picked up this Barrett 82A1 50 BMG with 8 magazines and 10 boxes of ammo for $250 I mean what the heck why not".
Now that would be awesome.
Neat little gun. Shades of Thompson/Center!
Always happy to see the "& son" title card!
Probably under recognized and under appreciated by many,....but you two do a great job of having beautiful backgrounds in your videos!!
Thank you Ted 👍😎 😎👍
I'd like to have one of those, seems like it would make a good trail gun, can use a wide assortment of rounds, maybe carry in a shoulder holster. I really enjoy watching the interaction you have with your son when making your video's, he's quite an accomplished marksman too.
A shoulder holster would be awesome. Marc Thomas makes holsters for the Brawler: www.youtube.com/@marcthomas2482
😅 Thanks for the creation of these vids. I really like that pistol. Envious of the relationship you have w your son. Truly special. Don’t lose that guys. 🙏🏽
Rossi, make one in .44spec/mag and .38/357, please!
Yes sir 44magnum would be cool
I think like the raging judge would be cool 454 casul with 45 and 410. I mean come on who wouldnt want that
You never disappoint. A fan forever.
Thank you duanequam!
Looks like a fun gun! I'm glad to see some more videos from you'all. 😊😊
God bless all here.😁
Nice video as always guys. I have been looking at the brawler since it came out in .45 LC/.410. I had a judge several years ago and was totally disappointed with the performance of .45 LC. The judge I feel was mainly designed around the .410. My .45 LC pet loads tried and true in my Ruger Blackhawk and Rossi 92 Shot almost 2 foot high out of the judge. So I sold it. This gun looks very promising for .45 LC. Thanks for sharing.
Mixup 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸great to see you both..well I hope you and your family have a very happy Easter...wish you all great health....well at the range last weekend I heard...SHUT UP AND SHOOT!and of course all big fans of mixup and son....😅😅yup you guys have hit the range! Well we all agree on thank you both very much for this channel
I need to have some t-shirts and hats printed with "shut up and shoot" and pass them out to my friends and viewers 😁 Your comment just made my day...thank you. Happy Easter my friend.
Cool pistol i may need one, i was amazed you found all that .410 ammo as it is scarce here.
You must be one of the few gun reviewers that actually reads the owner's manual. I just bought one of these and also saw the warning about shooting slugs. Thanks for keeping us safe. By the way, great review, as always.
I appreciate the little details that are really important, like when you point oust "no slugs" and that the action is tight but loosens up. Good review as always.
I appreciate the great feedback on my video....thank you!
Had one they are awesome..still have the sling and gun holder
I think they need to make an under / over version of this gun , 2 shots , double the fun
Call it the Rossi Rumbler.
It would be cool, but it would be much more expensive.
Like a Bond Arms Texan, except with ejectors
Thx guys. Dad you're a top shot. And your son is good too. My wife just bought the Brawler for me and I can't wait to try it out after watching your video.
Finally, I missed the old transporter sound!
👍👽
You guys are expert marksmen. Wow.
Thank you Richard. My dad taught me shoot more than fifty years ago and I have been able to pass my knowledge to my son.
Happy Easter Mixup98 and Son 😊😀😎 The Brawler is Pretty Cool
Happy Easter to you too Chris 👍👍👍👍
Long time viewer here, great video. Hoping you guys keep on going for many years while we watch that car gradually reduced to same condition of that old truck frame out there!
I can almost guarantee that the car will look like that old Dodge truck in the future. 👍😁
Looks like a fun gun to shoot. Good to see you back doing videos!
I'm glad to be back and my son and I are planning on doing lots of videos this spring and summer.
Liked the ending fotos! And, the bullet in flight is pretty awesome to see.
Good to you two jokesters back. You always have interesting guns to share. Not sure this is my cup of rye, but, who knows? Would not be the first time you prompted me to look for something quirky. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I definitely like quirky firearms and maybe someday I will put together a video where I show off the few that I have laying around 👍😁
I just purchased one and now I’m watching this video. First time watcher, loved the video ! Lots of fun, Dad and Son!
Rossi makes some cool stuff
Makes one wonder why slugs are explicitly prohibited...
Great video, intriguing gun and a couple of great folks... God bless
I don't get it either. What's the difference between a .410 slug and a 45 colt bullet?
The 410 slug can be heavier and faster than the shorter 45lc. With the polymer reciever it might be too much
@@allthingsconsidered3211 I pulled a .410 slug; they weigh 90 grains. The .45 bullet runs 225 to 250 grains.
@@MrTruckerf ok so definately not heavier. Thx for the correction
@@allthingsconsidered3211 Not to pile on, but .45lc is actually higher pressure than .410.
I got to hand it to the older gentleman he’s a sharp shot for a guy his age I’m guessing late 50’s early 60’s? Maybe mid 60’s either way it’s amazing how amazing of a shot he is!
Mixup is an excellent shot!!
Well, Thank You Mixup....Just picked one up here in Meridian MS Memorial Weekend....What a blast!!
I'll take two!
Great vid as always! Usually these 45 Colt/410 rigs give poor accuracy with the 45 Colt... but I have to say, I'm impressed with how accurate it really is. And that's with the fixed sights... I have no idea why I would need one of these but I kinda want one lol
Wow, that’s a really awesome little gun! Thanks guys 😊
Good review guys, saw it at my local gun shop and was thinking about purchasing it but wanted to see a good review...I think I might get after your watching you guys shoot ☝🏾💯👍🏾
Awesome! This is why we do these videos and we are glad to hear that you might pick up one of these Brawler pistols. If you get one please give us your opinion after shooting it. 👍😎 😎👍
That's a great video. That is a cool fun or survival gun.
After years, I just realized you’re wearing a John Wayne tribute shirt! Very Cool Pistol! 👍👍👍👍💥
John Wayne is definitely one of my favorites, along with Tom Mix. 👍😎
I think that is awesome. Looks like a fun little guy
The people at the dollar store must think you guys are a couple of weirdos.
I always kicked myself for not buying one of the Comanche single shot .410/45's when they were cheap, so I hopped on the Brawler as soon as it came out. They're the kind of gun you buy because they have a very good cool to $$ ratio.
That new opening is awesome.
Thank you for the feedback Sean!
Hey there you two, great to see both of you today. So yeah I have never seen one of those, and now I want one. lol I need to get out there and check out those wide open spaces, and apparently I need to bring my own masked creep, seeing as you guys wrecked that one already. :) what a blast!
Quizás algún día vengas a Nevada y te llevemos a cazar y te invite a almorzar.
I had to get one of these. Such a fun gun! I know is dumb but I’ve always kinda liked .410s
That's pretty cool! I'm glad you two had fun shooting it togeather.
"Southern Nevada " 😂
I love mine . It ejects all spent casings ever time.
I got a 9mm adapter but the accuracy is very poor.
With 45lc i get way better grups at 60 yards.
Thanks for the video , been waiting for you to review this !!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
I’m still mind blown that someone drove a $45k Alfa Romeo out in the middle of nowhere and dumped it!
Probably not theirs 🤷♀️
We got these into our shop a little at a time. Every time they'd sell out. I picked up the last one and we had a dry spell for a while. Then last week we got two more in. At 199 they are hot sellers. We've had the carbine model in for about a month but they're not too hot. I haven't shot mine yet as I have eye problems with my shooting eye. Greetings from NW Minnesota!
Love that gun, great humor, really enjoyed, thanks
Awesome video nice rossi brawler 410 / 45 gun thanks for sharing mixup98 and son
You are very welcome and thank you for watching our video.
You're welcome
Single shot guns are great. Most are inexpensive, simple and useful for training, hunting and for limited defense purposes. I miss new H&R's.
loved watching ya'll shoot that thing. been looking to get one for a bit. ya'll just sold it even further, and i cant belive that thing is only like 200$
Nice video. That is a nice single shot. Enjoyed it!
Hey we have very similar in guns I bought my Rossi brawler about a year ago when they first came out, I put a truglo 2x on it for deer season (I settled on leveroution for big game ) took 2 nice does and a feral hog with it last season . It really comes into its own as a fun gun though breaking clays with it is more fun than should be legal , I have also used it over my hounds on raccoon and squirrel and it really is a hoot and seriously easier to carry than a shotgun or even my 15/22 when navigating the night forest
Mix! Good to see you again, was worried there... That Rossi looks fun. I've always liked single shot shotguns and this looks fun. Affordable too, I've seen good Rossi and I've seen...er...not so great Rossi (kinda like Taurus), but these look decent. The fact they state no slugs concerns me a bit. It's fun gun that could work for pests and such.
Hello stonefree1911. I'm glad to be back and my son and I have lots of videos planned for the spring and summer. Don't know the reason behind the "no slugs" but I'm guessing a .41 caliber slug bouncing down a .45 caliber barrel has something to do with it, although I may be wrong since 000 buckshot measures .36" and apparently is safe to use in the Brawler. Hopefully my son and I will have another video posted next weekend. Stay safe and have a great weekend.
Cool shooter 😎 Happy Easter
Thank you Peter and the same to you!
I knew it! I saw a Hickok do video on the Brawler not long ago and I was certain Mixup was going to find a good deal on one these and do a video as well. Being proven right is always satisfying. It is what is, probably a lot more fun than it practical, but that doesn't make it any less interesting. The Brawler would certainly do the job if you hit where you're aiming. 👍👍👍👍
Good afternoon brockhowell. I'm glad to hear that you were proven right, and I can actually see you smiling 👍😁 You're right, the Brawler might not be very practical but it is a lot of fun to shoot. Have a great weekend my friend.
Sure interesting firearm, especially for the price. Thanks, guys!
Our pleasure, Harry !!
Although I’m excited as I just ordered a trigger assembly for my marlin model 60 22 long rifle as I accidentally broke the old one thankfully I was a smart bug and put the screws back where they belong, I’ve been meaning to fix it however never got around to it until now due to health reasons but since the passing of my great grandfather whom I got the gun from its time I get it working again!
I've been looking for a good budget gun, and the Rossi Brawler is in my top 5 for consideration. This only further convinces me. I was concerned about the recoil, but it doesn't look too strong for a skinny guy like me. A leather belt holster I think would fit this gun well.
Looks like a fun piece of range hardware, sort of reminiscent of a pirate's boarding pistol. Arrrggg. It seems to hold a pretty good pattern with birdshot so it might even be effective on quail at short range. Cool video. Cheers.
Thank you Mixup98 and son for this video! No other video reviews I’ve seen on this really address the accuracy of the 45LC. In my state this would be a legal deer gun. If it is accurate enough with the 45’s it is an option to consider.
The ejector adds a lot to the coolness factor. 👍🏻
It sure does!
That's a fun little blaster! I like it!
Great video!
That poor Alfa Romeo :(
Fun video!
👍😁
Another fun and interesting video thanks fellas....👍
That was fun. I'll see if there is one in my area
I've been thinking about one of them. Thanks for the review.I think I'll go And see if I can find me one.
I hope you find one and please let us all know if you do. We would love to hear your opinion after shooting it. Just know that .410 ammo is extremely hard to find right now.
What did the Rossi Brawler say to the Taurus Judge?
"I could have been a Contender."
👍😁
Great video.
You seemed to have the most fun ejecting the casings,
Good job. Thank you.
These are well worth the $200.
Lots of fun.
They've also released a rifle version.
It's based off the Tuffy.
Well it's just another shooter show.
That is, until Hoss beams in from outer space!
Subbed😂
Awesome....thanks for the sub and also for the great comment 👍😎 👍👽
Hurts Doesn't It
-Kaede Smith From Killer7
Past is prologue or put another way, there is nothing new under the sun. Harrington & Richardson manufactured a break-action, single-shot .410/.45 Colt in the 1920s and early 1930s marketed as the "Handi-Gun". I haven't decided whether or not to drill and tap mine for a scope mount.
That would be cool gun to own...after I get my HR Sportsman 999 Deluxe.
Hey, Mixup. Lucky Gunner recently released a video on the history of hip-firing your sidearm as a law enforcement technique. Were you ever trained on this technique back in the day?
Seems like a pretty decent way to have a compact, cheap way to have access to .410 and .45 in case it’s the only thing on the shelf (which was common in my area during the thingy we can’t talk about)
I like how it ejects the spent casings.
For people that handload this could be a good hunting pistol. Since a lot of factory 45LC loads are tamed down due to older framed guns and liability.
Wow great find
Nice vid. I like that gun for snakes, etc. Whatchu think of Taurus Judge Home Defender, same gun basically except 5 round cylinder...
I used to own a Taurus Judge about eight or nine years ago but I never got around to doing a review on it. The Judge is a great revolver for closeup defense and I might get another one someday and I will be sure to do a review on it.
I would love to see then make interchangeable barrels for this like they did the Thomson contender because i can see where this gun could be vary very useful in different scenarios.
They are nice I have been looking for one but they are allusive
E -lusive.
Elusive.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Heck of a shot on that tomato can boss
Thank you Bob !!!
Since you are a Star Trek fan, I think you'll agree with me when I say that this looks like a Klingon disruptor.
Indeed it does! 👍😁 👍👽
I was going to comment that it looks like something we might see in a sci-fi movie. Blade Runner came to mind. Another great video!
Looked like a fun hand cannon 👍🇬🇧
nice firearm. rossi also makes a single shot take down rifle with 16.5 inch barrel that takes 410 and 45 lc.
Looks good with the scope & great long distance shootin!
I'm hoping that Rossi will make the Tuffy Survival rifle in 357 magnum with the 16 inch barrel.
Any time I see a single shot in 45 Colt.....makes me wonder if it could be chambered a little deeper to take 454 or 460's? The barrel might not like the additional pressures but I'm sure Rossi could beef it up a little to take it and such a gun would be very versatile.
Rossi said no way could that be done.
And then they came out with the 45/410/454 judge.
Talking about an elusive handgun. I think that it's made from unattainamum😊
The Rossi manual warns not to use .454 in the Brawler but I agree that Rossi could probably do a design change and beef up the frame and barrel.
I wish they'd make these in 357 of 44. They'd make nice hunting pistols
I absolutely love mine! Did you notice the barrel has ".410 GA" stamped on it? No such animal! lol
You're right, it should be stamped ".410 Bore". I have even seen some boxes of ammo actually marked ".410 gauge".
It’s a good thing it doesn’t use slugs I think they’re priced by the good standard.
