Using Ableton for the very first time I was welcomed with the 'Session View' which looked very unfamiliar to me. I am glad I can toggle to the Arrangement View and use Ableton just like Cubase, Reaper, Studio One and Logic!
I love Live! I use it for 10 years! I think it has everything to produce music, ok... almost. I really hope you include a MIXER in the arrangement view. I know Live was done for playing and recording live music, but a lot of people, like me, prefer Live like their #1 DAW. It's the missing tool.
Fabio Enriquez the channel features which you see in the session view are fully integrated with the arrangement. I.e., the fader, panning, send levels, and inserted effects are in the path of audio and midi playing in arrangement view.
Hey Fabio in case you haven't resolved this yet - when you are working on a track in your 'Arrangement' view just hit the 'Tab' key on your keyboard & the mixer immediately appears (every mixer track you see there in that 'Session view' corresponds exactly with the tracks you have open in your arrange page - or timeline view). Once you've made any needed adjustments to your mix, just hit the Tab key again to bounce right back to your arrangement.
getting a second monitor greatly improved my workflow. You can see the session view and the arrangement view simultaneously. As well as the device chain, and the clip editor!!
I created something in arrangement view and I instantiated a rack so I could control lights using DMXis and automation lines. How do I save this so I can use it in session view and create a set list? I've created several projects like this and can only import them in session view in the very top A return/ Master track and not the tracks themselves. I cannot find this information anywhere and yes I have read the manual and also own an ableton live how to book.
Hi Daniel, if you prefer to work in the arrangement view, you don't need to work in the session view. Both ways of working are possible. Hope this helps!
Is there a way to stop Live from moving the playhead to the automatically selected region or to force it to always play from the loop locator? It is extremely frustrating that there is not a way to tell Live to always start playing from the same point when the clip that is being edited does not start where the playhead should start.
Absolutely man, im so frustrated as well. Can i even draw audio files? Like in fl i could just click with my pencil and draw more kicks or snare for example. can i only duplicate audio and not draw them?
Hi I am very new to ableton, how would i change the length of an audio track in order to, say, make a sample from a song the same tempo as the metronome??
Why aren't these tutorials in order? Start with setup and preferences, then how to record mic/guitar then move on to multitrack/MIDI/virtual music mumbo jumbo?
Better nutrition and literacy from an early age will help prevent societal breakdown. I’m not talking WIC processed food; I mean genuinely healthy fresh produce and high quality protein. Why don’t any politicians run on that platform? In one generation we could turn this around.
having an IQ of 7 and having come from FL, the Ableton arrangement view is pretty unintuitive and this tutorial is no help at all. how do you select specific clips from the session view and insert them into the arrangement view without recording them into the arrangement from the session?
I recently moved to ableton and I love it I came from FL, however theres a few things that would make ableton way better, like the way FL duplicates tracks, you don't need to actually duplicate, if you click on a sample and click elsewhere that sample is duplicated, also in the piano roll is similar, please do that. Thanks. EDIT also an option to make wave forms single, because I find no use for a double waveform, you can listen with your ears when editing stereo that double waveform is not needed for me

All I want to do is fade in a note that I placed in piano roll. Why can't even one 'expert' tell me how? For me, arrangement mode looks NOTHING like this. I swear the internet is a wealth of knowledge about nothing useful.
Hi, this video shows the arrangement view of version 10.0. We added automation lanes with our 10.1 update alongside many other features. You can use Automation to create a change in volume using any automatable parameter like track volume, utility gain, or Sampler volume. Feel free to have a look at this article in our Knowledge Base for more information on how to work with Automation and Modulation: bit.ly/2uWn20M Cheers!

Ok guys and girls, let's face it: the arrangement view in Ableton is laughable stupid and ridiculously simplistic, in 1985 it would have been awesome. I only use Session View, I love it, it's great, but I mix everything in S1. Arrangement view is inadequate. Very expensive program with some very stupid features.
You failed to address why we all came here for...how to cut out these darn extra 4 or 5 bars at the end of every arrangement, watering down the Zoom features..in your case it's like double your song, just silence. That needs to go! How?

Very helpful video! Thanks!

Thanks dude, I've been searching the web for an hour just for 5:36 haha

not one time does he mention how to add a clip to the grid
how do you trim a track selection in arrangement view in ableton 9? (delete everything outside selected area)
My track is not changing at all when it comes to going from live to arrangement view. It keeps playing when I'm trying to drop my bass
Great video 👍
I have had a great doubt about this powerful D.A.W. And my doubt is that if I work my music only in the arrangement view there would be no problem?

Pier Bover did you ever find an answer to this? Coming from FL this is insanely different behavior
I am also trying to get used to navigating around the arrangement view and find it horribly annoying compared to Pro Tools.
