That's what I think and is either mistaken by the wording in the contract or just lying. I can see that blew the money on bs and didn't invest/save at all. It kind of like welhen lotto winners become millionaires over night. They have no idea how to manage the wealth and they are in worse place than they were before the money
This is my take too, she got paid her lump sum and blew it by herself marketting her own sauce thinking she'd get royalties (for some reason) and when the company denied paying her for that she's now decided to try and slander them into paying her... I can't wait for them to sue her honestly.
The most logical explanation I can think of is that she over estimated the amount of money the sauce would bring in, and in return significantly overspent and lost all of her money due to poor financial choices
she lied bro, if her a$$hole personality wasn't enough of a telltale sign, then her tiktok will immediately expose her. literally a month ago she admitted she got plastic surgery and sold 200k bottles.

Dave's Gourmet said that they have paid her over $120k to date and are still paying her. That's a pretty good deal for a product that was becoming literally toxic. They even offered to pay for her lawyer to go through the contract and confirm it's totally legal. She's removed the libelous posts, but still has the libelous gofundme active. She's a grifter, and I hope Dave's Gourmet's lawyers were prescient enough to include a termination clause for this situation.
Similar to what Charlie said, Chef Pi is a representation of what not to do as an entrepreneur. Misleading labels, improper shipping, being rude, constantly lying, honestly she really had it coming.
She might even be lying about being broke. The only consistent thing she's done is lie about almost everything. And if she's a private chef, she can still work. She has no expenditures related to the sauce since she's not making it, Dave's Gourmet is.
We sell it at the Walmart I work at and can confirm it doesn't sell well. The stocking team complains that it is just taking up cap space for other things that sell, and will probably sit there until the expiration date hits. And you can't get royalties if no one is buying your product.
If she did things right the first time, not rush it and stayed humble she would've been rich right now specially with the Barbie movie craze! Everyone was put off by her attitude
“Chef” P has proven herself at every turn to be a defensive, manipulative narcissist. She does not deserve $100,000 from anyone let alone one of the people she tried to poison. She calls herself a chef and she would be so bold as to ship a highly perishable food item through improper means of distribution. She cooked up this fate on her own.
She definitely overestimated how successful the product was going to be and over spent. Every time I have gone to walmart that sauce has been fully stocked and never touched. Plus the company came out and denied all of her claims. I don’t want her to be homeless or for her kids to suffer but she definitely needs to take some responsibility on her end. She has lied continuously about many things so I don’t blame people for not trusting her.
I rather her kids not be homeless either, but it seems she was the author of her misfortune... and is going to hell's length to not come to terms about that.
I was already disgusted how irresponsible she is, and my dislike for her only heightened when I found out she’s dragging her kids into this. She claimed she doesn’t have the money to feed them, yet she’s posted videos of herself indulging in expensive stuff like a whole ass birthday party.
Mhm, all this talk of royalties, she probably thought there would be monthly checks, but Dave's almost certainly bought the rights in a lump sum (marketing expenses, bought a bunch of new clothes thinking she would be on more talk shows advertising?) And she's just an idiot. Not shocking.
It's astounding how often people do this then act surprised when they figure out they can't maintain such a lifestyle without actively making a lot of cash.
If she's that broke, she's broke because she spent her money like it was burning a hole in her pocket and relying on getting those royalties to stay afloat.
If I have learned anything about Americans from the last 8 years of politics, it's that about 1/4 of the population will support a dangerously deranged idiot no matter what heinous things they do and say.

I've being a chef for ten years and when Pink Sauce first appeared I was pretty astounded that such a product was ever allowed to hit proper distribution networks. Talk about dangerous. But with a proper production line I can imagine it would be fine. Also the only reason, I would argue, that Pink Sauce lady is now broke is because of poor financial choices on the assumption of big bucks coming in combined with not reading the contract fully.
They were initially selling bottles of these at my Walmart for $8. They had to be marked down to a quarter a bottle for it to sell at all. A 97% markdown which is practically unheard of.
I worked at Walmart over the summer and was shocked to see a shelf full of pink sauce, by the end of the summer, I didn’t see a single one get purchased and just watched like 40 bottles sit on the clearance shelf, getting more and more discolored by the day

My guess is the following: - Sold all of her rights to Dave for a flat fee + peanut royalties (pennies on the dollar) - The initial buyout money sent her over the moon so she quit her job and she spent all of the money too quickly - Hype around the product has died down so it's not selling nearly as well as projected so her royalties alone can't cover her living expenses - There might be clauses in her contract that are not in her favor, making her situation worse (ex: if the sauce doesn't hit X amount in revenue per month then she gets no royalty.. idk) - She could also be lying about all of this or grossly exaggerating her financial hardships. Who knows..

the worst thing about the talk show incident is that the host AND the audience was on Chef Pii's side. Also, the critic asked to not be sat next to Chef Pii. Not only did they sit her next to her anyway, but they made the host BRING IT UP.
At one point Chef Pii even grabs her hand and holds it while she gets in her face to condescendingly speak to her. No idea how the other woman kept her composure during that
@@lauramontgomery4674 That is true. The reason I assumed they were on Chef Poi’s side is because of their reaction every time Chef Pii humiliated the critic. They just applauded.

i mean her Sauce was disgusting..... but people really need to learn what the FDA does.... they don't approve single sauces or anything like that.... as long as she uses ingredients that aren't banned and adheres to (very loose) standards in production it's absolutely fine to sell that sauce as long as she has a business license

The Pink Sauce is now on clearance at Wal-Mart. According to the transaction history between Dave's Gourmet and Chef Pi (ironic it sounds like "Pee"; probably tastes like it too), she was paid $120,000 over a period of 12 months; that's $10K per month. She posted a TikTok nine days before her GoFundMe was set up, flexing that she sold 200K bottles of that nasty-ass sauce. Now she's "broke". The math ain't mathin', people.
Well that depends on her cut. If she is getting $.10 cents per bottle that's a good chunk. If she is getting significantly less then that sucks. But I think she is getting closer to a dollar. She is just a mess. I swear she spent all her money on playing up the pink costumes

Clearance means Walmart will no longer be purchasing it. They're creating shelf space for something else with a better chance to turn a profit. It's essentially a death sentence for that product.
I had literally never heard of this sauce or Chef P, but found at least 100 bottles of pink sauce at my local Walmart on clearance for $1. I bought one against my partner's advice, believing that even if it was bad, I was only wasting $1. After taking a single taste of that sauce I feel as though I have experienced the entire backlog of human suffering, I have been in the grips of a miasma of dread and despair ever since. I would have been better off using that $1 as tinder to set myself ablaze rather than suffer such a cruel fate as to consume that pink nightmare. It is no doubt that I am now cursed, and it comes as no surprise that the creator of the sauce was swept up in the swirling vortex of entropy that she created. I’m in the hot sauce business. From my understanding, I do not think Dave’s acquired Pink Sauce. They most likely just became an exclusive co-packer/distributor for pink sauce to make the sauce legitimately and at scale. Dave’s wouldn’t pay her anything for this. They probably signed her on some sort of % deal so she wouldn’t have to front the money for production and also agreed to push the sauce into retail. Walmart products have to pay $10k-$50k per sku on the shelf, Dave’s probably fronted that money hoping it would take off and the percentage of sales over time would pay them back. If products don’t sell in walmart in the first 6-9 months they require you to discount the items and get them moved out of the stores. If Dave’s isn’t paying her it’s because the sales didn’t make back the cost of production and or cost of entry into retail. It takes hundreds of thousands or even millions invested up front in retail with the hope in 2-5 years you’ll make it back. ouchy.
@@jacobfreer9884And nobody needed your extremely insightful info about yourself. Like we really don't care about how you possess the intelligence and attention span of a tiktok toddler
Thank you, this makes a lot of sense and might explain why she never specified that she sold her brand to Dave's. How does the percentage deal usually work? Would Dave's ultimately be responsible for the production/distribution costs and share a small % of revenue with Chef Pii or the other way around?
Anyone selling an edible product from their home that couldn't google "FDA" is a danger to society. She calls herself "Chef" yet can't boil an egg. This story makes me happy!
I could go on about the shipping disaster and the horrible talk show spot, but the fact that she calls herself a chef with sincerity is one of the most egregious aspects of this entire debacle.
I can almost guarantee that her "marketing costs" that she wants reimbursed are what she more than likely spent on a pink vehicle, pink designer clothing, expensive makeup, jewelry and anything else she deemed "necessary" for a post on her social media account to promote pink sauce. Now that pink sauce has fallen off and sales aren't doing well, she realizes she's not gonna make that money back and has probably been spending like pink sauce was an infinite money glitch. Never count all your eggs before they hatch.
And it seems the "faulty deal" just an excuse. I mean while Dave Gourmet not giving her enough money, it's definitely because the sauces just don't sell, no profit to share.
I suspect that she also doesn't understand the difference between net and gross profits, and so since daves isn't making net gains but is selling it she thinks she gets some money from them.
@@raymonddubisky3143 oh yeah, the taxes! This likely what she most miscalculate on. Even if the product not profitable, she still get some money, which also still taxed.
maybe she quit her job to focus on marketing the pink sauce full time, because she thought this deal would make her set for life, and now she's struggling to find work, but that's a stretch
Literally all she needed to do was make an apology, say she was a first time business owner and made a bunch of mistakes and promise to do better in the future (and actually do better, get FDA approval, find alternatives that were non-perishable) and all would be well. But instead she got defensive and tried to insist she could just send people this rancid death sludge in the mail lmaoooooo
I still cant get over the fact that while on the talkshow, the audience kept clapping for Chef P and kept on supporting her while the talkshow host kept minimizing the issue brought up by the lady who had concerns about the sauce.
I saw some of that show in RuinedLeon vid about her. Absolutely disgusting how the host pretended to be unbiased only to put all the blame on the lady and compare a video about something to threatening someone's safety made me want to punch him.
I’m a cashier at Walmart and when pink sauce was put on the shelves in my area it was not sold at all. The following months it was all sold on clearance since no one was buying it and when a product doesn’t have sales they are forced to discount it. This for sure happened because pink sauce was not doing as well as Chef Pi thought it was. Most people turned their heads even though the sauce was branded. Just because you put it on shelves does not mean people will buy it.
im grossed out by the color. it doesnt look natural. i think most folks who shop walmart are like me in that aspect. i think she would have been more successful selling it online or thru specialty stores.
@@cerebrumexcrement That colour can be made naturally. Basically all you need is fruit powders, Red Dragonfruit, Cherry, Raspberry, (basically any red fruit) and a white base (such as Mayo or Milk) and poof, vibrant pink colour.
My mom was like that! And lord have mercy. You don't want a parent that speaks and acts like the way this lady did on that wack ass talk show. Real irritating ass shit, 20+ years of lame ass parenting
Honestly, I think the secret ingredient in the Pink Sauce is what’s left of her brain dribbling out of her ears and nose. How could someone live as long as she has and be so clueless about…well, everything?
I work at Walmart as one of the stockers and I have been stocking the aisle that pink sauce is on since it made it to Walmart. I have never seen somebody buy one nor has the location where they've been ever been empty. The sales have been so bad that the sauces actually started to expire before being sold, and before that we tried to discount them for them to sale and people still don't want them. The item doesn't sale and absolutely nobody wants it.

Looking at the basics, this is basically a classic evil CEO villain backstory. She rose to power and fame by doing bad things, and now she lost everything.
For me the fact that she's asking for $100,000 is the most telling for how much of a delusional leech she is. Everything about that interview she had on that show was so infuriating to watch, from her gaslighting the guest to taking this holier-than-thou attitude with her, such a tell for the type of person she is. Across her entire internet fame she has never taken accountability a single time. If her story is true I feel sorry for the kids, not an ounce of remorse for her, she brought it all on herself
Literally the 100,000 gofundme is a dead giveaway that she's a heartless bitch intent on scamming other single mothers out of their money. She uses that sob story to garner the empathy and thereby dollars of women who are actually going through it. She does NOT need 100,000 to take care of her kids, and to ask for anymore than 1000 shows her nature. Not to mention there is 0 explanation for why she would've lost money in all of this, and while she sits on her ass begging strangers for money online, she could get a job like every other fucking person on this planet. She's complaining that she's not getting royalties and therefore can't take care of her children; as if getting a job isn't even an option. If her story is true, then there ought to be government intervention, because she is abusing her children out of sheer laziness and desire to not work.
@OP - I agree 100% She probably spent $50k she didn’t have, thinking she’d be ballin from royalties. But then she thought “heck, why not ask for $100k? and get the bag” I mean, who needs $100K to just feed their kids?
I felt so much cringe seeing that poor girl double down after she was just awkwardly gaslighted in front of an audience. I was screaming at my screen for her to clap back but the discomfort was so powerful. She made 0 points, just socially dominated the woman with pressure from a crowd. Felt like I was years back in high school watching popular girls overpower other girls with sheer confidence, no matter how dumb the words they said
My ongoing theory is, that the reason for her being broke is a combination of: -She started spending too much after Pink Sauce took off, resulting in her having insane spending habits now (compare her appearance before and after Pink sauce took off) -Pink Sauce was a short-term hit, out of insane people being curious and the hype died out, resulting in low sales -Her being delusional and thinking that Pink Sauce is performing insanely well in Wallmart I actually think her contract is probably somewhat okay and she just expects that she should receive like 10k/month from sales HEAVILY doubt she is broke
It’s obvious that she only cares about herself and not her own kids and they probably need to be removed from her custody if she keeps on spending money that she got from the gofundme on her nails and makeup than her kids should live with a family member or a loving family who can provide for them and not some ignorant narcissist
the way that she calls her customer “not special” yet she is a consumer buying her product, basically the way she makes an income in the first place is ridiculous

Just watched another channel's video on this. They went into detail about the deal Dave's Gourmet had with her. She used the money for Air BNB's and hotels (she says she was still homeless). She also wanted Dave's Gourmet to cut her a $10,000.00 cheque so she could throw herself a birthday party, as well as paying for a dress and shoes to wear to said party ($800 dress; $600 shoes) and called it marketing expenses. Apparently she never refunded anyone either. Dave's Gourmet advised her to continue working in order to keep income flowing. She relied solely on them to do everything for her without doing any work herself (apparently inventing a sauce from ranch dressing and dragonfruit powder should've been enough). I doubt that she had anyone look over the contract. After Dave's refused to give her $24K for her birthday party/marketing, she refused to do anything in the form of marketing like doing TikTok's or UA-cam videos. In conclusion, she screwed herself.
Ive been in food manufacturing for over 10 years and the fact she got so far is crazy to me! I can attest the importance of “the way it’s cooked has to be monitored” I got salmonella from bad chicken, it wasn’t cooked properly and I ended up in hospital for a week. Nothing came of it since we didn’t really have any proof of wrong doing, I eat the whole thing so we can’t prove whether I got it from the store or something else I ate, though considering I only ate that one thing that day, we are pretty certain it was the chicken. Plus I fell sick like an hour after I ate, I took a nap after eating, woke up an hour or two later, and was horrifically sick.

The saddest part of this story is that she could've been such an inspiring success story, of how through the power of social media an underdog entrepreneur could make it. Unfortunately she let arrogance and ego get the best of her, so many people were offering to help get this product off the ground, but she decided to "girlboss" her way to bankruptcy. I would feel bad if she wasn't such a narcissistic person.
@@mjanny6330nahhh there is an underdog story in there. Girl makes shitty pinksauce. She is motivated but just makes a shitty mistake. But she takes the criticism and memes to heart and eventually makes a decent product. Due to passion from the fans and just wanting to do better. That's an insane underdog story. Only problem is that it requires the ability to take criticism and being able to self reflect.
I agree, to an extent, my understanding is that she had a huge following before the whole "pink sauce" thing so I wouldn't call her an underdog entrepreneur. If anything her being bankrupt now shows she's just shit at managing money, if she's telling the truth, given how much money she should have bene able to pull in from tictok and also from her brand deal/sale. But you are 100% correct about what you're saying with pretty much everyone else trying to help her out. Every time someone told her her product needed proper refrigeration, how to go about that or how to get in contact with an actual distributer who, while they'd take a cut of the profits, would be able to properly store and ship her product she effectively told them she didn't need any help and her product would sell itself. She wasn't confident, she was full of herself and when things started going wrong she doubled down. Instead of apologizing for people getting sick she threw out accusations of them pretending to do so for clout, everyone who did an unboxing of pink sauce and finding the packaging to be dripping or the bottle burst because of how off it went due to just being mailed normally she said they were faking it. When confronted about it she complained that she couldn't send things refrigerated because it'd be too expensive or that it didn't need to be refrigerated because she "sealed" it after she made it. You are completely right about her trying to "girlboss" it and expecting it to work just because "she don't need no help."

Just going to guess the chain of events was: Dave's acquisition-> she spent most/all the money she got from that-> royalties were trickling in for a while-> hype died down, so did sales-> she's questioning why number go down instead of up-> all her money was spent and now she has nothing
As a culinary student I was absolutely disgusted at her initial product and advertisements. I really don't believe she's flat broke like she says she is, and honestly can't bring myself to care. She absolutely could have killed someone with her ignorance.
This. It's also possible she spend all of the money she got thinking it was going to continue to roll in somehow, and is lying about where the money went.
If she really is broke, then I think the story probably went something like this: * Chef P signs contract entitling her to a percentage of sales of any Pink Sauce products by Dave's Gourmet, while signing over the rights to the name and recipe * Sauce gets dropped in stores, might've seen some early success in some places and Chef P gets her early residuals + whatever money Dave's might've offered up front * Chef P, remembering her early success and expecting an even bigger payday, starts spending a lot more than she has on all types of shit and going in debt * The sauce quickly stops selling due to the hype having died down, the counter-hype having killed interest in anyone with half a brain, and the general public not being interested in buying some mystery fluorescent pink goop off the shelves of Wallmart * Dave's cancels production and distribution once the first sales figures come back, effectively stopping Chef P's gravy train in it's tracks permanently * She complains to Dave's and demands they re-start sales, but they go "you're just a spokesperson now, we own Pink Sauce and we see no future in it at the moment" * Possibly Dave's offers to sell back Pink Sauce to her for an amount of money she blatantly will never make (and can you even truly blame them for trying to recoup losses) * Chef P, now sauceless and with unpaid checks, goes on GoFundMe to try and milk the scant few drops she can out of her Pink Sauce racket through the only way she has left, skirting around some parts of the story and lying where she can about other parts to pluck on the heartstrings of the small group of dopes still stanning for her and her glam e-coli. At least, that sounds the most plausible to me.
I was stocking the shelves with pick sauce and i felt disgusted. I looked up the average sales for my store on our app and it was less than 5 a week. That made me happy.

And then when she never got the money she expected, because she's as delusional as the day is long, she found herself under a mountain of debt that she swears isn't the consequence of her own actions.

- Sold all of her rights to Dave for a flat fee + peanut royalties (pennies on the dollar)
- The initial buyout money sent her over the moon so she quit her job and she spent all of the money too quickly
- Hype around the product has died down so it's not selling nearly as well as projected so her royalties alone can't cover her living expenses

This is what I'm thinking. I legit see it at my Walmart all the time. Like there's no way she's broke

More pink means more disease
It takes hundreds of thousands or even millions invested up front in retail with the hope in 2-5 years you’ll make it back. ouchy.

Just wait until you realize what type of people put doctor in front of their name and then practice types of medicines!
Let's just hope CPS takes them away to someone who cares about others for a change.
@OP - I agree 100%
She probably spent $50k she didn’t have, thinking she’d be ballin from royalties.
But then she thought “heck, why not ask for $100k? and get the bag”
I mean, who needs $100K to just feed their kids?
I felt so much cringe seeing that poor girl double down after she was just awkwardly gaslighted in front of an audience. I was screaming at my screen for her to clap back but the discomfort was so powerful. She made 0 points, just socially dominated the woman with pressure from a crowd. Felt like I was years back in high school watching popular girls overpower other girls with sheer confidence, no matter how dumb the words they said
you think she could be lying?
My ongoing theory is, that the reason for her being broke is a combination of:
-She started spending too much after Pink Sauce took off, resulting in her having insane spending habits now (compare her appearance before and after Pink sauce took off)
-Pink Sauce was a short-term hit, out of insane people being curious and the hype died out, resulting in low sales
-Her being delusional and thinking that Pink Sauce is performing insanely well in Wallmart
I actually think her contract is probably somewhat okay and she just expects that she should receive like 10k/month from sales

Plus I fell sick like an hour after I ate, I took a nap after eating, woke up an hour or two later, and was horrifically sick.

reminder that Pink Sauce Lady didn't know what the FDA was for
Here’s my theory: Dave’s gourmet offered her 120 grand for pink sauce initially, she thought that was a fantastic deal and took it without batting an eye. Then afterwards she probably found out how dogshit of a deal that is so now she wants a bigger slice of the pie.
Nah, the 120K was in a period of a yr
Tf u mean? Considering ive never ever seen a single person ever buy it or with it in their cart ever, she got amazing money
@@BigBeeruswdym!? 120k is clearly nowhere near enough money for her genius, revolutionary idea to make a sauce pink. They couldn't have put pink food coloring in a sauce without her.
She may or may not get another bag from this: as of right now, the GFM campaign is up to $25,314, but $24,240 of that is one donation, from “Kyrie Irving”… uh-huh, sure-and I’m Jeff Bezos 🙄 wouldn’t be surprised to see that $24,240 donation rescinded very soon.
120k over there span of a year is a greater salary than the average American makes
my bet is definitely she just didn’t get as much money as she expected and probably went spending more than usual, thinking that she’d make it all back
Probably bought a Dodge Charger at 32% APR and got it repo'd. Lol.
Considering those royalties were in proportion to bottles pushed... yeah, Pink Sauce did a Frank Castanza and stopped short.
Except she was never an "underdog" lol
@@jeltje50I agree with this. To an extent this could have been not only humbling for her, but inspiring for others. Instead it's just sad. The true mess up for her was her lack of accountability.
@@JC-Alan yeah like doing this with milk is an obvious dumb move. But I can understand that someone would be legitimately be ignorant about it.
The complete lack of self reflection is so so so damming. Like at the point can you even grow as a person. To me shit like this is something I never want to be or become. Self reflection and growth is probably one of the most important key aspect as a person.

As a non culinary student, who can't cook , i too found her product disgusting and even i with a little time could make a decent drink
If she really is broke, then I think the story probably went something like this:
* Chef P signs contract entitling her to a percentage of sales of any Pink Sauce products by Dave's Gourmet, while signing over the rights to the name and recipe
* Sauce gets dropped in stores, might've seen some early success in some places and Chef P gets her early residuals + whatever money Dave's might've offered up front
* Chef P, remembering her early success and expecting an even bigger payday, starts spending a lot more than she has on all types of shit and going in debt
* The sauce quickly stops selling due to the hype having died down, the counter-hype having killed interest in anyone with half a brain, and the general public not being interested in buying some mystery fluorescent pink goop off the shelves of Wallmart
* Dave's cancels production and distribution once the first sales figures come back, effectively stopping Chef P's gravy train in it's tracks permanently
* She complains to Dave's and demands they re-start sales, but they go "you're just a spokesperson now, we own Pink Sauce and we see no future in it at the moment"
* Possibly Dave's offers to sell back Pink Sauce to her for an amount of money she blatantly will never make (and can you even truly blame them for trying to recoup losses)
* Chef P, now sauceless and with unpaid checks, goes on GoFundMe to try and milk the scant few drops she can out of her Pink Sauce racket through the only way she has left, skirting around some parts of the story and lying where she can about other parts to pluck on the heartstrings of the small group of dopes still stanning for her and her glam e-coli.
At least, that sounds the most plausible to me.
She’s the typa girl to think she can UA-cam tutorial and girl boss her way into preparing fugu to sell to people
