Great stuff, really interesting to see some of these - had no idea about the first kit or the last multipad. Was nice to hear some playing examples too!
Yeah I though I'd just group them all together in one video since you can't really by any of them in US stores yet. Wish I had gotten some sound examples from the Carlsbro pad but I'm sure I'll play it again some day.
Thank you for this heads up, these less known brands need more exposure. An independent reviewer like you really adds to the knowledge base of us consumers. Oh, about the stick holder on the octo pad... that looks more like a note stand or a tablet holder ;)
I'm looking for an electronic drumkit whose acoustic sounds are good enough to not mess with vst drumkits. That's largely bcos I'm lazy, and it would save me a little time or something. I got no complaints about my Addictive Drums per se, lol. I've only just now learned of this dev, and this is available on the Chinese sites for 5-600ish bucks. Thx for the demo.
@@TDre554 The main downside he named was that the floortom was 10 inch, but he admitted himself that that was a mistake: it's 12 inches. Other than that he also named that the TD-17 sounds weren't amazing, but I'll be using Superior Drummer 3, so that's no problem for me. And lastly I only have limited space in my room, so the VAD-306 is the best I can get for how small it is :)
There are laser triggers, although difficult to find, they trigger almost flawless compared to piezos. However dynamics are an issue. The kick drum issue on the first kit could be fixed easily if they used them in conjunction with each other. Piezos track dynamics and laser picks up actual hits. If the piezo tracks a hit the laser doesn’t or alternatively misses, then it adjusts. The concept wouldn’t be that dissimilar to software I have that cancels hits if they overlap other drums.
I think the gewa drum kits are pretty great even with the imperfect triggering and the high price. The bass drum speaker thing is also quite interesting although I’m not a fan of the SPD-SX copy. Also, i thinks you should use 24 or 26 inch bass drums and 13, 14 toms. 18-22 inch bass drums look absolutely tiny with you playing!
Most drum companies don't let people play the prototypes, they just develop the new upcoming drumsets in secret. I make videos on them when possible though.
I just got the nPad on Friday. It's a weird little unit. Also I'm convinced that all the different versions of this pad made by HXW are using either licensed or stolen samples from Toontrack. Gonna make a review video soon.
Found your channel a couple of months ago and really enjoy your videos. One of your videos I watched had a short clip of you playing drums on your roof....... looked super cool but I can't find the video that clip is from.....how do I find that video?
DbDrums pads are really low quality, but the prices are good here in Argentina. I've been using their mesh kick pad to replace my kd9 for almost 5 years now, and it's still working well. But the cymbals are pretty awful, they stop working 1 year ago, after 4 years of usage.
Justin do any of the new kits covered here have a separate volume control for the headphones output? A minor detail but one which is frequently brought up!
Hey Justin: just a question but is it possible to "frankenstein" a 3 piece electronic drum kit? (Kick, snare, hat). If it is, can you do a video how to do it. My room isnt big enough for a full ekit nor can I get a real 3-piece kit cos of the noise. Thanks!
possibly coronavirus slowing down their production and/or import taxes on the US making it too costly for them to sell there...(those are guesses of mine, not actual facts). you can probably find their kits on drum-tec though
Carbon Fiber is an odd material for drums. Usually it's used for automotive, specifically because it's lighter than fiberglass, or sheetmetal, which is what cars are usually made of.
@@65Drums Yeah you're probably right, if it was real carbon fiber, it'd probably cost at least $600 some dollars extra per pad. I base that because that's how much after market carbon fiber car parts if similar size costs. And if you get it as an option on a car that offers it, it's about double that because they always charge more
Okay, it must not be this one, but this dev have the realistic-looking kits for as low as $600ish, lol. Thx. I have an Alesis mesh kit, and the real drum sounds are oh, kayy, but the toms sound too processed. Some of the snares are pretty good. The hi hats sound silly.
HXM and Medeli are competitors. Here’s how I’ve seen it play out. Millennium will sometimes have one drum set made by HXM, and the next one (up or down in price tier) might be made by Medeli. They are using both manufacturers at the same time last I checked
2000-4000 for the hxm 🤣that's a joke right??? THEYRE LITERALLY UNDER 1000 USD if you buy it off taobao 🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️even with import fees itd be cheaper to get a 3rd party taobao buyer to ship it 🤣🤣🤣(to clarify its listed at 4480rmb (china taobao) currently which is 7rmb to 1usd.....)
Oh snap, I've just put out a video about the nPad! Looking forward to this!
I think you such thorough, honest & fair reviews. Thank you
So great to see dbdrums being reviewed! thanks for the review. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina! 😊
Thanks for watching :)

Bought a set of boom theory years ago, I love em and AL is a great person to answer any questions you have about them.
The DB Drums pad looks great to use as a mini kit. I might have to back their Kickstarter.
Yes keep making vids like this ! Great

Welcome back Justin, it's been a long wait.
I had to take two weeks off, but more stuff is coming soon :)
Very nice kits. The bottom of those Gewa cymbals look like a manhole cover ! Thanks for the look ahead.
Yes, I would like to see more of this. I like your vids and have watch about 1/2 of them.
nice video , cool to see what's coming in the near future
u really cover amazing electronic stuffs... thanx a lot for it.. i m using a alesis strikepad pro its awesome after dtxmulti12...
I enjoyed this video. Thanks.

I've merged a Millenium MPS-850 with an Alesis Turbo Mesh on one rack. You guys want to see it?
Yes don’t be a tease that sounds sick which pads you feel triggered better??
Still waiting for the VAD306... it's such a long wait :(
did you watch his preview? he didnt seem impressed...

Fubuki what about the ride?
Will be tough to compete with Roland, Yamaha, Alesis, Pearl and Simmons, but I wish them all well!
Thx Justin, really interesting.
Thanks Justin! I wonder if Gewa is ever going to come out with a finished complete Kit.
where's the fun in that

Can you review NUX DM-7/DM-7X DIGITAL DRUM?
Can you please do more drum prototypes please

An in-beater bass-drum sensor like the Triggera Bix triggera.com/bix-kick-beater-trigger might fix the HWX's bass-trigger issue.
th BD drums pad looks very similar in design to the roland SPD-SX unit, could that not get them in trouble for trademark infringement?
Did they get the samples for the HXM module from their kitchenware?
The weird part is I was thinking of why don’t nobody put an amp inside of the kick drum
What is the list of them

10:35 that Hihat sounds so Sad! for a Price u have to pay Damnnn.
I was about to comment the same thing!! The closed sound sounds like someone sucking air through their teeth/lips....

I actually have a HXM in red. they rock
How much was it?
@@Zoe_Langa $1800 Australian dollars including freight. Ordered straight from the china maker
Why is there a Pokeball on the dbdrums sample pads?
Can you play a cross stick on the alesis strike pro special edition
I think so, but I don't remember if I tested that when I played it
Isn't the HXM basically the XDrum DD670 Set

it is, you just need the pads, a snare stand/hihat stand, and a drum module (possibly the cables too, if they dont come with the module)
what dw rack is the gewva on in your video? thanks
It's one DW invented for this drumset. I don't know the number or name
Hey, I've been looking to get an ATV kit, but for some reason, they're gone on every single website. Any idea what happened to them?

ATV's situation seems a bit complicated right now, can't go into all of it right here

It's just for the looks. I don't think it's actual carbon fiber, probably just a wrap

The HXM drum module kinda looks like the TD-50
HXM1000 greatly resembles my Valler xd1000.
Thanks for sharing all the information Justin, your the best my dear friend 👊👍😎🥁

Excelent video!!! Regarding the dbdrums pad, iin the facebook page it i offered at around 750 usd in Argentina.
I they told me that's the price for the samplepad and additional pads included. The stand-alone sample pad will be cheaper than that

bruh HXM cymbals are the exact same set as on the MPS-750x..fucking medeli has a choke hold on the industry haha
