  • I’ve used this rotary cutter now for two years and hundreds of hours, figured it was time for updated review for those of y’all that may be looking into one. I am not affiliated with Quick Attach in any way, just wanted to help out those of you who may be in the market for a quality brush cutter.

Thanks for sharing your video. I am comparing different brands of 3-point tree cutters and being able to see them pushed to the limit like this is helpful. In case you haven't considered it, prescribed fire is the cheapest and most effective method for opening up your understory. It won't immediately create an open park like setting like you are doing with the tractor, but repeated fires over time will. It is also an easy way to maintain the openings once you have created them. You could burn your whole property in a fraction of the time and expense it will take to mow it. Federal grant funding may also be available to help you with it. Check with your local NRCS or agricultural extension office for local guidance and expertise.

That’s awesome. I don’t usually see people doing real work when I click on a Kubota video. It’s usually electric chainsaws, fairy dust, and trying to find the perfect cup holder or best steering wheel spinning knob…

That’s funny, this tractor has put in a lot of hard hours running this cutter, grapple and pulling a disk set. Glad to say with 500 hrs I haven’t had any issues with any of the equipment. I take care of my stuff but I definitely use it for what I need it to do, I didn’t buy a $50k tractor to be a lawn or ornament.

Your channel just came up in my feed. I just watched all your videos. Great job! Isn’t fun to discover what you have behind all that brush? I’m in Eliot, me doing the same thing with 8 acres and lots of invasive species. Thanks for the video on 400 hour service. That was very helpful to me. Loved them all though. Thanks. I’m looking forward to more progress down there!

Hey. Great videos on the brush thrasher.
How much torque are you using on the blade bolts and what tool is sufficient for that?

I see you pulled the trigger on a grapple too ! The toplink looks like a handy addition.

Yeah, I got the grapple over a year ago, also from quick attach and I’ve been super happy with it. You won’t catch me without a hydraulic top link now, that thing is probably the single most useful upgrade to my tractor so far.

Awesome - Just saw your link, to the Hydraulic Top Link… Already have one ordered from my Kubota dealer, for ~ $600 - but, it’s been a Long while since they emailed me that it had come in… Looked at the one you are using on Amazon, and Saved it to my Cart - if they no longer have the one at the dealer, I get This one… (Greatly appreciate the link sent, even though I wasn’t the one that requested it - Hope your clearing project, is still going Well - Maybe, with this more inhospitable and rainy weather we’ve been having, you might have time to post some more videos :))

I've got a call with Chris shortly and I'm about to order mine! Planning to go with the 66". Thanks for the update and it just reaffirms my decision to order one. What top link cylinder are you running? Have a link to it?

I got mine off Amazon, Category 2 Hydraulic Top Link 21... www.amazon.com/dp/B005EMI2DG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share - I’ve been happy with it but depending on your tractor you may need a different size.

I am on the fence with a Lane Shark and this brush crusher. I do have a QA box blade and it's quality for sure.

Thanks for the update. I got a quote on one and they've gone up a bit since you bought yours. I'm trying to justify more-than-double the money of an Everything Attachments Wicked 60 (75hp box).

EA makes great stuff but show me a video of someone who’s put hundreds of hours on one cutting this type of material. If you’re just cutting occasional brush it may hold up, if the majority of its use will be land clearing, I don’t see it lasting the way this has.

    • @SlainteFromFlorida

@@blackstonefarmsouth596 If that video is out there, I haven't seen it. Good point. I might have to make that video if I go that route. Land clearing is certainly the mission. 21 acres of I would say (on average) more dense but lesser diameter material than what your videos show you've had to take on. I'm inspired by your progress there.

I've been hoping for an updated vid. on this cutter. You may not be affiliated with quick attach but you're their best salesman for this mower. I ordered the 72" in May and still don't have it yet. 12-week lead time when I ordered mine so hopefully arriving soon. I guess after watching this video, a hydraulic top link is getting moved to the top of my wish list. I have one question for you. I have an mx5400 open station, do you get much debris coming back toward the tractor? It doesn't seem like that is a problem from the videos.

    • @blackstonefarmsouth596

You’ll be fine, it’s not often anything hits the cab, if it does, it’s usually a piece that bounced off a tree or something and doesn’t have any energy behind it. Every now and then a tree or something will lay over towards the tractor but they’re not big enough to hurt anything. I will say, the cab has saved me from several hornets nests while I was mowing though 🤣. The hydraulic top link is worth every Penny and can be had for a couple hundred bucks, just make sure you check your PTO shaft length when you get your cutter though to make sure it didn’t bind anywhere through the cycle range.

That, sure does a lot better job than I would have thought it Possibly could - Especially with the hydraulic top line
No added…! Considering modifying my HD Mower, to where the back is convertible from closed to open, and back - as needed… But, ideally, would like to have a front mounted mower, with a rear Power Pack - Biggest holdup to making that happen, is the $$$$ costs… But, sure would save wear and tear, on the Neck - and, would be sooner able to see, uncuttable obstacles - Before, hitting them…!!!

This attachment seems to work well but I’m wondering how uncomfortable it would be to be turning half way around to work this backing in to all the brush you’re cutting and mulching?

    • @blackstonefarmsouth596
      @blackstonefarmsouth596  2 роки тому +1

Everything is a trade off. Would operating this on a skid steer be more comfortable? Absolutely but I can’t afford to own both machines and I need a tractor for a lot of other tasks. Is it so uncomfortable that it subtracts from the utility of it? Absolutely not. Is my neck a little stiff after running it for two-three hours? Sure but not nearly as sore as my back would be if I were trying to do it by hand. For me it’s fit the bill perfectly, if you have $85k to drop on a lightly used skid steer and cutter and have a lot of ground to clear, that would probably be the better route but I already had the tractor and $4k for the cutter and I can do everything I want to 👍🏻.
