    100% agree that mowers should be out front. Don’t have to turn around, tires don’t push down grass, and you can get closer to objects you need to mow around. I used to mow with a John Deere F725 up until this year. Having the mower out front was beneficial. Now I mow with a John Deere 757 zero turn, which is also out front. Would love to be able to brush hog on our 45hp Case out front.

      We went from using a John Deere compact for our mowing, to a Toro Groundsmaster... and the time saved, along with the cut quality was absolutely worth it. I had to abandon the Groundsmasters due to parts sourcing, and now we have a Ventrac. Aside from till work, and grading our gravel driveway, I have no use for the John Deere anymore... and Ventrac offers every attachment needed to replace everything else as well.
      I'd love to have this Ferrari or an Antonio Carraro TT-series. Same functionality without needing to purchase expensive/dedicated equipment like the Ventrac.

    Hi Tim,
    I live in Spain and I have the 60 HP version of that tractor. Articulated and reversible, but no cab. It's the yellow version (pasquali=yellow, bcs=blue, ferrari=green, all the same thing).
    Regarding the ball remains in implement thing, first notice. Yeah, maybe I've seen that system some day, but never actually seen it in real life, never used it.
    I mean, maybe it's generalized in some places in europe, not here.
    The reason for buying the reversible version, which was by the way about 2k euro more expensive (I'm talking about 2016 prices) was precisely for mowing. Mowing backwards is the correct way to do it, but neck pain is guaranteed after several hours backing up.
    We are absolutelly happy with the decision of getting the reversible option. No doubt about it.

    The problem I always see with manufacturers in the US is they THINK they know exactly you want/need when it comes to equipment instead of listening to their customers suggestions. Obviously if consumers are giving suggestions to the company they like that make of equipment and want something that company doesn't offer. The Europeans are very good at inventing special purpose equipment you thought you never needed until you've tried one. What makes them ever nicer is they're also made to be a multi-purpose platform so it's not stuck at doing one thing. Too bad you aren't going to have this tractor with you over the winter it would be nice to see it setup with a 3-point mounted snow blower. :)

    • @jeepanimal2943
      @jeepanimal2943 4 місяці тому +3

      A larger version of this is the Versatile 150/160/256/276 series. And yes, they blow snow extremely well. Or if you were really adventuring, on the 276B you could have the loader arms on the "rear" and the snowblower on the "Front"... Only a seat swivel away from the attachment needed in front of you.

    • @Slane583
      @Slane583 4 місяці тому +2

      @@jeepanimal2943 If I went for something like this it would probably be the Ventrac since it's smaller and can get into more areas. I see Bobcat also has their own copy of the Ventrac now as well. I don't know if I'd ever need something like the Ferrari myself other than having it to blow snow in the winter. Even then it would be overkill since my little subcompact is big enough for snow blowing. Having the cab would be nice though. If the Versatile is bigger than the Ferrari as you say than that would be double overkill for my needs.
      As far as really big machines go the only one I know of that also has a rotating cab is the Class Xerion TRAC VC.

    We bought a Gravel Commercial 430 (??) tractor in the early ‘70s that had a front mounted mower. There was a driveshaft from the PTO to the mower. The spindles had slip clutches. It was a beast of a mower… grass, weeds, brush up to an inch was no problem. Turning radius around trees was a weak point… I mow that same property now with a zero turn and it is far more maneuverable… but busted spindles have been a repeated problem!

My Branson 8050 came with that type of arm and I went with a quick hitch for a couple of years, then I got sick of trying to fit in and under the quick hitch for the pto's and started using the ball ends and discovered that they were nicer and easier then a quick hitch.

    I agree with you on how nice it is to have the mower in front. I have a 20 acre tree farm that I do upkeep on so the saplings have a chance to grow and not get overtaken by the dog fennel and other weeds that would crowd it out and stunt the growth rate (I'm in NC btw). After looking long and hard I went with the Kubota F2690 (front PTO w/25 hp diesel) with the Peruzzo 1600 flail mower (63" cut). Yes I got from Iowa Farm Equipment and had shipped to my Kubota dealer. I can cut thru 1" material if I have to when doing some clean up work around the perimeter of the property. The nice thing is I can also get a finishing mower if I want from Kubota which gives and outstanding cut. Granted it is not a tractor but a dedicated mower. It's 4wd, highly maneuverable, and uses very little diesel. I went with this vs the Ventrac because I have other Kubota equipment and my dealer is really good. I couldn't imagine cutting on my property with a rear mounted mower or flail mower after using this. The only thing I would have wished for would have been an enclosed cab because of the heat in the south and the bugs.

    Dunno why Maschio doesn't ship pass-through as standard to the US. This tractor a badge version of another manufacturer and there's a variety of additional equipment like a bull-cage for the engine end, side counterweights and they can actually be equipped with a form of narrow that can also be added as dual tires and can even use doubled tires. You can get a much large cab interior space but to be honest that's just a lot more glass to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter as well as run into trees and bushes. Some models also have the capability of adding a basic 3point or quick-hitch on the engine end (not a full hitch but useful none-the-less)
    To be very honest the bull-cage adds a nice small amount of counterweight and is very useful around bushes, trees and other such random obsticles. I really wouldn't buy one of these without the half or full height bull cage.

    Hello. There is additional equipment to be fitted afterwards so that you can get pto and lifting arms on your smaller John Deere tractors as well. For example 1026 but also your other John Deere tractors. And another tip suggestion is that there are flail mowers with pto and lift arm connection both forward and backward in the same machine so you can choose forward or backward without having to rebuild from forward to backward. The walk-behind tractor you test drive in that video also has the option of mounting a loader and since it is a walk-behind tractor, it will be next as a wheel loader and also the possibility of mounting loaders both front and rear. There is probably the possibility to mount on lifting arms and front pto as well. 🚜❗️

    Italian and Slovenian reversible tractors are popular in Australia, especially as specialty tractors for tree farming and steep terrain tractoring. We were very tempted to buy a 60hp Antonio Carraro tractor but they were just too expensive compared to a standard tractor.
    They say these tractors are wonderful when they are running….
    When they are not they are a pain in the arse to fix. Even very simple tasks like changing an oil filter can take time and be complex.
    If you want to see an amazing machine look up the scrub claw. Australian ingenuity combined with a reversible tractor.

    By running my Del Morino Centurion flail mower shifted out to the side, it encounters the grass without the tractor running over it first. So it has the benefit of being out front, while still being pulled behind.

    I've thought the same thing about some implements working better with a front-mount situation. I've been wanting to up my snow-removal game a bit, and started by looking at rear blades. But then thought, Why not get a front blade that attaches to the loader? So you're not running over the snow and compacting some of it before moving it. So am looking at those now.

    Great video Tim. I enjoyed it. You made the comment that there weren’t other front mowers. A lot of golf courses use real mowers that are usually front or in front of the wheels. My other question or comment is on a flow mower. It is basically pushing as it cuts forward, everything is going forwardtoward the tractor as you drag it behind when you stick this in front is it pushing it out in front or is the orientation rolling into what you’re cutting if that makes sense

    That tractor would be perfect for mowing!! I’d like to see a slightly larger model. Is there a way to switch the seat, steering wheel, and pedals around and maybe use it with a loader? I’m sure that it’s not cheap either!

    Oliver 50 and 55 series tractors used that same ball type lift arm couplers from 1960 to 1976. John Deere used them from the late 90’s to a few years ago.

    Tractor looks pretty narrow, did it feel stable? In my experience flails do need to cut low. I would encourage a review of the Nova Tractor BCRM series ditch flail mower. It is a weapon and at a very reasonable price point. It chews like a mulcher, really impressive.

    Really weird to hear that front mowers and/or reversible operating stations are uncommon or even rare in the US, as you said its the logical thing to do and pretty much standard here in Europe. though with Reversible OS being not the most common thing mowers are usually just run in the front Hitch often in combo with an offset version on the back

    Almost all municipal sidewalk tractors, (Holder, MB, or Trackless) are set up with a front pto and 3pt hitch. That is most likely who would buy the tractor featured in this video. They are definitely not cheap but are awesome at what they do.

    There are several Italian manufacturers that make that style tractor. They need to be upgraded to hydrostatic transmissions. They are a tough sell over here as we are hung up on not buying a tractor without a front end loader

    I'd be a little worried using that setup in rougher conditions: for example if not sure where rocks are it's often helpful to raise flail mower or rotary cutter and take off some foliage on first pass to clear visibility... I'd worry about the debris hitting the tractor esp the cab glass (same reason you don't want to stand behind an operating cutter).

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  4 місяці тому

      The rotor spins the other direction…away from the tractor. There is a roller right behind the rotor which sits firmly on the ground behind the rotor…making it essentially impossible to through stuff backwards.
      I have seen it pitch a bit of stuff forward a few feet, but NOTHING like a rotary cutter

    • @canlungdoc
      @canlungdoc 4 місяці тому

      Thanks. What I was primarily referencing tho is if you have rocky areas and can't see the large rocks, you sometimes need to run it first with unit, and thus roller, off the ground, to let you clear enough to see.
