    Toyota Yaris is better. Why? Simplicity. I am an Automotive Technician and the first thing I look in a car is How easy is to get it fixed if something goes wrong. How easy is to change an Air Filter, Oil Change, Starter, Radiator, Exhaust System, space or room to work on the Engine; Less Electrical Parts, etc. Most of the people buy cars for the look but when repairs come they cry with the cost. I know Toyota does not have better Suspension or better Interior but more money in my pockets make me happier. Simplicity best description of Toyota.

      Bruce Lopez The Fit IS a simplistic car. The Yaris just thinks it can sell by keeping itself in the stone ages. I'm sorry, but 4 speed automatics that make rough shifts and a almost 20% less fuel economy rating comparing the the competition is not going to cut it these days. Toyota is lazy with its cars that it sells the least of.

    • @torontokid97
      @torontokid97 9 років тому +3

      Bruce Lopez Yup! They also don't adopt new technology very quickly. They'll be the last to do small-displacement turbo engines, even though that's where the industry seems to be headed. (Mazda another exception)

    • @joshuab1707
      @joshuab1707 9 років тому +1

      toronto97 yeah so true, Toyota just tries to keep their cars the cheapest. But when you're talking about the difference from a Honda or Mazda, the price is marginal when you are talking about the vast amount of features available to Hondas and Mazdas that Toyota won't give you for a couple thousand less. And as for mazda, putting a 2.5l gas guzzler for a 4cylinder in a compact car won't make me happy, a 2.0l with a turbo is way better cuz the fuel eco and even more HP.

    Only a young person would complain about a 4 speed automatic, comparing to other cars which have "twice the number of gears!". You know what often kills older cars? A failed transmission. Which do you think would be more reliable - a bullet proof 4 speed or a "new, improved" 8 speed?

      Exactly and the u340e in the yaris is one of the most reliable ones toyota has ever made. Only real issue is the trans temp sensor acting up but I suspect that won’t happen if you change the fluid regularly

    heres why i love toyota yaris's: for one, my company uses one as a delivery vehicle. Its the one vehicle we have that has never had to have major work, all the chevys and other ones have have had engine swaps, transmissions replaced, blown head gaskets expensive repairs.....out of 300 thousand miles on our yaris we have only had to change the serpentine belt and just now changed the alternator of course brake pads, oil changes thru the years......but nothing major its still a tank of a car going strong and saving gas and shop visits......also on snow and ice nothing beats it! i was driving on roads with pure ice last year it was the only vehicle ive ever drove that ice was zero problem. it did not spin out, i didnot lose any control i felt like i dominated that scary ice. Just such a good car. Im going to be trading my car in today and get me a 2015 yaris so im super happy about it. Toyotas you just cant beat em!

    At least Toyota leave its doors open for customers that just want a simple reliable car with low tag price. People complaint about 4 speed transmission or the lack of turbo, but is not Toyota emphasis. Toyota makes cars for people that just want a car to move to one place to other. I guess thats why we have different makes and models to meet consumer demands. People want faster cars or better technology but you will pay the price. And for the person said Fit is simplistic, open the Honda Fit's hood and try to get your hand around the engine.

    I'm at the point in my life where I could give a shit what I look like or what Image is needed to project...I need a reliable, cheap to maintain and run car that will last me 300,000 miles or more and give me over 35 MPG on regular gas. Cars are depreciating assets, I'm not going to blow big bucks on something to outdo the neighbor or show off to anyone. All I need is something to drive to the grocery store or to take a weekend trip with. If I need to haul something, I have a 20 year old pickup truck that will take up the slack. The Yaris fills the bill for me.

      This. I’ve had some sports cars and a tundra. One of my cars made 650hp. While it was fun to drive I had problems with it and I got over spending the money to keep it running. Tundra is a great truck I love it but gas killer lol. I recently bought a 2015 Yaris with 55K miles for $8K and I love this thing. It’s so easy to park ANYWHERE in Los Angeles, power is fine for merging on freeways, and it’s comfortable for my 60 mile work commute every day. Thanks Toyota. I’ll always stick with Toyota!!

      "It's better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow."
      I owned a 2008 Fit Sport, brand new in black, with a manual transmission. Same thing happened to me. People would make jokes about my car, but I made fun of them for driving automatics. Manuals give more control. You decide how long to stay in each gear. You save around 50 lbs on average. Cheaper maintenance/replacement parts. My favorite part of driving stick is, ironically, the fact that driving a stick in a country where almost nobody can do it, is a sort of security, and a badge of pride. Plus it gives me something to do so I don't talk/text on the phone or something equally foolish.

    Toyota is about simplistic designs, no nonsense and bulletproof reliability, cheap to run and maintain. Any mechanics will say Toyota is the easiest to fix and parts are cheap. On the other hand, Honda just as reliable and engine are bulletproof. However, Honda designs are amazing but the costs of their parts are expensive compared with Toyota.

    I had thought about getting a Yaris hatchback, but the Fit's 130 bhp engine and CVT means I can get onto the freeway quite fast and going up a fairly long incline (a good example is the southbound Sunol Grade on Interstate 680 just north of Fremont, CA), I can keep up the 65 mph speed limit easily. The four-speed automatic means the Yaris tested here could have trouble on strong acceleration, in my humble opinion.

    I often drive my girlfriend's 2013 Fit since her car get's much better mpgs than my Passat, and I gotta say that I love the car. I cannot get the car to return less than 28 in the city with my lead foot and it really is a fun car to drive. It literally fits (sorry for the pun) in just about any parking spot and holds a truly surprising amount of stuff. I'm a car enthusiast but I guess that you could say that I'm an oddball because cars that are extremely practical really pique my interest along side all the sports cars out there. I hear the 2015s are just that much better so I'm looking into buying one with the 6 speed for myself as a little commuter car since I'm looking to make my Passat my project car. If it's as good as they say, it's going to be a no brainer.

    You should have tested the manual versions; my wife has owned a 2007 yaris sedan 5mt for 8 years now, and she gets 39mpg avg (with lrr eco tires) in the spring/summer/fall and 37mpg avg (with studded snows) in the winter with a 60/40 highway/city drive. Although I personally abhor rolling toasters like these, I can't argue against the Toyota's reliability, I've only done routine maintenance on it, and it's at 102k miles now; still on the original clutch and rear shoes/drums, second set of front brakes/rotors (changed at 70k).

      Wow! Nine years later one of my comments comes back to demonstrate how age builds wisdom. Given what I know now I would buy the Yaris in a heartbeat. It has one of the most reliable engine/transmission combos ever made. The Fit is still an excellent car, but the Yaris is the bee's knees. I'm currently driving a 2021 Yaris which I hope will prove to be as reliable as the 2015 version. Good luck!

    Bought a FIT and regretting it. Research FIT fuel injector issues as well as Earth Dreams engines, DGI and carbon buildup issues. Cost to replace injectors is around 2k and is very common problem with FIT as well as other Honda models that have Earth Dream engines. Will probably trade the FIT in with its issues and that is hard to swallow as I love the car, hate the engine. Have had mainly Honda's but am now researching other makes due to this.

      Glad you mentioned the honda fit issues, you rarely hear any issues with Yaris.
      That is the selling point reviewers forget to mention, they have no mechanic background. They just look at feel and bloated tech. All tech is dated within 2 years. Rather get my map/music from my phone that is updated every 3 years.

      they were probably 2200 pounds cars with low HP, thus they got great milage. The honda crx HF got something like 50mpg in the 90's but was a death trap. It adds weight to make a car safe when they hit a 5,000 pound truck, weight decreases mpg. my 137hp 2007 elantra gets 36mpg on the highway, it weights 2800 lbs. 4 speed automatic.

      Like that's the whole point of the yaris.
      Reliability. I'd rather pocket the 4 grand price difference for insurance and general matinence for the next 3 years.
      They need to understand the mechanic portion of why toyotas are so dope. The parts are interchangeable year to year giving you a cheap stock of replacement OEM parts.

    All new cars come with a higher speed transmission but when they break it can be very expensive to fix like Jeep and Chrysler vehicles. Yaris run forever just the way they are great car for the price. My wife's Honda Civic has a timing belt engine that is crap the one she had jump a tooth and bent a bunch of valves in the head. I would never by Honda I have had Toyota all my life and they have always been reliable with there timing chain driven engines they last forever.

    Toyota should have just made the Mazda based Scion iA the new Yaris, while adding/keeping it's hatchback option. Toyota needs to just do away with the Scion brand, make the iM the Corolla hatchback, keep the FRS and just end everything else. No other car company has needed to attract younger buyers. Honda, Mazda, Ford and all of Toyota's other competitors are doing just fine without a third sub-brand. Quit wasting your money on ex-models that aren't working, and aren't going to work, and just absorb Scion altogether.
