- Yale University on Friday honored a scientist who is just 9 years old. Bobbi Wilson is fascinated by bugs, but last year, her mission to catch spotted lanternflies captured national attention. Bradley Blackburn reports for CBS2.

People defending the neighbor and saying “well I also would be worried if I saw someone spraying something “ yes you have your right to feel “scared” but his intention wasn’t benevolent and coming from concern. Him saying “a little black woman,” he is so observant to notice someone spraying something , didn’t he also notice that she was a girl ? Unfortunately, yes we live in a world where something so innocent like calling the police can turn into a tragedy. This is why this is maddening .
Calling the police isn't innocent. It would have made more sense to go over and ask what she was doing. You don't waste police time by doing this crap. It wouldn't have scarred me at all, but I don't live in an all white neighborhood. My community is multi racial and cultural. We would simply ask questions rather than make a call to the police. I am sure he would have asked had he been white.
That neighbor was former councilman Gordon Lawshe. I'll let you guess which party. You'd think a grown man who served as a councilman could summon the courage to walk over and speak with the girl rather than calling police on a black child because he was "scared."
I hope that neighbor that 'was scared' of a little black girl with a water bottle realizes just how stupid he was and acknowledges why he really called the cops.

This is not about race (that is the media spinning division), this is about a child making the world a better place and she got it from her role models. I would hire her as my babysitter, not bc the color of her skin. I would hire her because of her merits.
I would’ve asked the parent what was going on because escalating things and lying about a little girl is not good and ensures trouble. I read further and found out there’s actually a campaign in NJ, where this happened, that encourages neighbors to help with the infestation of latternflies called Stomp It Out. That’s so embarrassing!

The neighbor knew exactly who she was, and that she was only 9. A little girl. He was hoping that the cops would be cops, and shoot her down. Strangely, the cops were more curious than murderous. That's why she's alive.

If a person sees someone spraying something on the ground, what with RoundUp known to cause cancer, who wouldn't be concerned about if whatever she is spraying could kill someone's pet? Calling the police wasn't racism. What, because he mentioned the word black? Where are you getting all of this from? We have the call, the police body cam footage, and several articles, none stating that she was trespassing. In the body cam footage, she's even on the sidewalk checking out the trees that aren't owned by a household, and no one brought up trespassing
she lives in that neighborhood, trees on the sidewalk cant be owned by a person
