- Unfortunately I got a citation for fishing in an area I wasn't supposed to be. Someone called the cops on me and they reported it to the on-duty game warden that had jurisdiction, but luckily for me, he was a very understanding guy and didn't drop the hammer on me too hard!

I'm old enough to remember what this country used to be like. It's extraordinarily sad when a guy can't even fish, not bothering anybody, and have the game wardens summoned. All the murders, rapes, assaults and thefts going on in this country, but a man gets a citation for fishing in "closed" waters.

I used to fish below a dam and really enjoyed it. The reason they restrict fishing from the bank near dams is the fact the water can raise quite quickly when they open gates to the turbines and wash away the fisherman. We have a lot of gar fish below our dams and then seem to be just enjoying the current and the easy to catch shad.

Small mouth are some of the most fun freshwater game fish to catch. The way they jump out of the water, epic. They're the cold water bass. Hence they're much more tough and feisty.

Dude, it's ok. I've released smaller fish like that my whole life. It does absolutely no damage to those small fish. He'd take care in releasing a giant, I'm sure.

Andrew Guntle Dude.. fish and game wardens can fuck your day up way worse then a cop can. Fish or hunt illegally and they can seize anything and everything linked to your fishing/hunting including your vehicle and all your gear if it gets that far. Fish and Game are one group you do not want to mess around with.
P.S. For the note, ALWAYS carry your ID and licenses when fishing or hunting. I believe it is actually printed on all licenses that they must be kept on your person at all times during the activity.
Michael Scherling depends on the state, if you dont have it on you, but do own one, they can usually pull it up, but they would rather you have it on your person

In my state they have the same powers as a "cop" plus more. Not only can they issue citations or fines for fish and wildlife offenses they can write you any moving violation ticket on a public highway that a "cop" can.
Pretty sure game warden can enter your house without warrant anf is one if two branches that can arrest the president...could be wrong was told this a long time ago

when I was a kid my Dad and I were fishing near nuclear plant on Lake Michigan...DNR came and told us it was power company property and we had to leave...no problem, we just moved on down the beach and continued fishing...Lake Michigan Perch are awesome in the frying pan! lol

Most power plants fall under the Homeland security laws. You can get arrested for just being to close to some. As an ironworker we have to have what's called a "red badge" to do work in such places which is basically a very thorough background check and drug test. Need pretty much a clean record, even some misdemeanors can keep you off one. And on the water I believe the law is 100' . In Michigan there's a plant that if you get to close to the shore of said plant very loud sirens go off and security comes out of the woodwork! The coast guard post is just upriver about 1/2mile and I've seen them rush down to assist

There is good fishing under the half mile long bridge over the river near me. Before 9/11 you could anchor by the pilings and climb up onto the large concrete platforms poured around each section of pilings. Great channel cat fishing. Can't do that now.

Waterways are public property. Its against the law to block them off. So yes its legal to fish there up to the sign that says no boats. So its legal to fish there by boat . gezz

What happened to him, was his own fault for breaking the law, but I fish that close to a major dam/power plant out flow and the area isn't off limits. This isn't about safety, or at least real safety or it would be mandatory at all power plants. There is nothing unsafe or putting the power plant liable for him fishing there. It is simply overreach by corporations/government under the patriot act rescinding our rights. There is nothing to stop the supposed terrorist threat from bringing a boat all the way to the dam/plant, worrying that fishermen or people have ground access 200-300m away is asinine when compared there is nothing to stop boat access.

I stand corrected! I watched this on a larger computer screen at 1/4 speed and did a stop frame. There I did see the rip with protruding guts. Before I watched on my phone and only saw the tentacles of the lure. He is now bait for a larger fish or dinner for the crawdads.

Apparently, you didn't see that fish going towards your catch in the shallows, near the shore, at 4:40 . Looked bigger than the smally you caught.
I used to fish there off Johnson’s lake. Before they prohibit fishing there. But I’ve caught a lot of large striped bass up top where the water goes in the plant. And fishing is legal there.

Fished there as a kid with my dad before they locked it all down place has gates and sigs on both entrances.. Game warden is pretty easy going guy. If you go about 2 miles downstream from theres phillips canyon which has pretty good smallie habitat

I actually quit fishing because a man has the God given right to forge for his food. Sick of bitch ass game wardens all up in my business, looking for dope, beer, ect. Stealing one of my two fish also. Slot limit sign says one "Black Bass".....no big deal I caught small mouths.....and got ticketed. 300 bucks for a fish I didn't get to keep. Or eat. Game warden most likely killed the fish.
It all boils down to how much revenue the government collect from us. Its a sad bottomless pit... Anytime we can do cash deals with people, the better off we are. Truth!
