- A Caldwell mother says her 9-year-old daughter hasn’t been the same since a neighbor called the police on her. Last month, Monique Joseph’s daughter Bobbi was spraying trees with a homemade solution to kill spotted lanternflies when she was approached by an officer. Police recordings revealed her neighbor made the call, which has raised concerns about biased treatment and racism.

@@barbieblue3336 I grew up near by and knew the Lawshes when they were playing sports for the Chiefs and were friends with my older brothers. The town is not outright racist but the lack of diversity leads to fear. If a little white girls was spraying trees I doubt he would call the police. In most of the suburban towns in NJ we live separately. A 10 minute drive and you will be in an all black town.

Don't conflate this with a certain central European country of supposedly educated and "moral" people tossing children into gas ovens by the millions about seven decades ago - that was trauma! In the article from the New York Post, (based on the Officer's bodycam) when the Officer went to inform Lawshe that it was a little girl and she was spraying for lanterflies, Lawshe is heard responding "What a weirdo, huh". Bobbie's mother says that her daughter has been having stomach aches, doesn't like to go outside as much, and has missed some days at school due to stomach aches. She said her doctor stated that children often present symptoms of stress and anxiety in such ways.

What is traumatizing is for that child to be dragged around and used as a prop by her negligent mother who allowed an unsupervised child to go around spraying neighbors' plants with an unknown liquid (to them at least) in a spray bottle, and then dragging an innocent neighbor's name through the mud simply because he was concerned about what she was spraying onto his neighbor's plants.
Yes, the real trauma that girl is undergoing is to grow up exactly like her latent sociopath mommy who sadly, but more than likely, like her mother, will have several children of her own with different fathers, none of them in the home, and then allow the children to run amok unsupervised - and then blame whatever mischief they cause on decent concerned citizens - which she herself will blow out of proportion, make a deal about and blame everybody else, using racism of course. That is the REAL ongoing slow train-wreck trauma this girl is undergoing - not a concerned neighbor making a 911 call about someone spraying his neighbors' plants

Sue for the medical treatment and treatment for damage to her hair, the kicks to the face and possible long term brain damage and vision damage. I was a legal secretary for a few years. I know what I am talking about.

@@sunshinef263y No, they meant this classifies as emotional damage, which in the law is part of assault and battery (which is often paired with physical assault, but doesnt have to be). Its like in the same category. But they can 100% sue and get compensation for emotional damages, especially since this was a literal child and she showed heavy symptoms of anxiety after this incident.
They even called the police in the news company that was outside their home. They’re a fearful couple. That defamation claim is going to hurt them more than help.

He didn't bother to ask her mother, instead he calls the police. He calls the police on a 9 year old child. I'm almost 63, and I can tell you, the people that the kkkult folk try to destroy usually make an outstanding life for themselves and their community. The light they try to extinguish just glows all the brighter...this child has that light. She'll go far. 😏 🌟

I was only worried as, apparently, there were further accounts from people who know the young girl where she became ill due from stress and anxiety from the situation.

Those types of racists are the most annoying to deal with. The passive aggression, with the occasional full on aggression that’ll catch you off guard. They tend to be really, and I mean *really* nosy too. You can ignore them, and avoid them but they stick like glue. They probably watch you more than a security camera too. I’ve had a stalker that was less bothersome. 😅 They don’t care about your age either, I have seen racists harass young children, just like this girl and even younger. Then when you confront them they get all “oh no I didn’t mean it that way. I wasn’t seeing right. I was just so scared.🥺”

The lanternfly situation here is really bad. We've got counties agriculturally quarantined but it's too little, too late. Her interest in the situation is important, and the neighbor is a shithead and a coward for backpedaling when the mom confronted him.

I love the loving interaction between this mother and her daughter. Makes me think of my mother. I wish I was smart enough to try to fix an environmental issue at nine years of age. It's disturbing that a former public servant saw it fit to call the police on a young girl. He should know better. As the mother pointed out, he could have just asked the young lady what was going on.

It is a shame, and as person of color myself, I feel sorry for how black people, most always through their own usually illegal shenanigans, are always causing white folks problems (Eric Garner selling illegal cigarettes outside a store, George Floyd being high on fentanyl and trying to pass counterfeit bills, etc.). Truly what this girl was doing would have been just fine and commendable if she had stuck to spraying plants in her own yard, but she was going up and down the streets spraying the neighbors plants without their permission - I can see how this could have caused alarm in the old white man - after all, he didn't know what that girl was spraying on his neighbors plants - could have been Roundup! Yes, it's sickening. Most people see a little girl doing nature/science stuff and we think, aw, how sweet. This karen saw someone she wanted to harm. And she knew who to call...how many times have we seen black children in handcuffs, crying, traumatized, over such a "misunderstanding." That's what she wanted to see. I just wish the police had cuffed the caller. We need to start letting them know this kind of predatory behavior towards children will not be tolerated. Or anyone else who abuses law enforcement like that.

My old neighbor got dementia and would put on a full business suit and walk around doing weird things. He called the cops saying there was a mob outside trying to attack him. Of course the police responded in force. The kids were playing some game in the street, tag or something like that. His family moved him in with them to keep an eye.
