      What you should be talking about instead of parroting BS that we might see next year.
      X870 and Z890 boards will give direct lane PCI 5.0 to the CPU that you might want to call "REBAR on steroids". Now you can call this as true dual silicon performance/architecture for INTEL ARC. Hence the early launch for the X870 even that the CPU's are maybe coming 2025 if not at all. In real life this means no queuing or waiting. This means no stutter or broken frames. Comparing performance it means ARC 60FPS is better than 120FPS from AMD/Nvidia for gaming experience without stutter at high resolution/demand. In Wattage it means Arrow Lake 250-295W (extreme) + Battlemage 250-275W = 500-570W combined power. Wattage in general = performance. AMD CPU would give you 170W max and loose 125W of combined performance in the worse case for ARC. Add to that no queuing and no waiting where every frame is good. 5080 for example 400W standalone card where the 400W is all you get and the CPU performance is minimal.
      Then we have the price.
      5080 $1200-1500 predicted + Ryzen 9 9950X $650 + X870/Ram $600 = $2450- 2750.
      Arrow Lake 285K $600 + Battlemage $500 predicted + Z890 board/Ram $600 = $1700.
      Plus I predict the ARC all INTEL combo will wipe the floor with AMD/Nvidia combo plus saving you cool +$1000.

      They'd also have to up the memory bus width in that case. With 2GB modules, you'll need 128-bit to get 16GB in clamshell mode (which is what they did with the 4060 Ti), or 256-bit without clamshell. The 5070's current (alleged) 192-bit config can do 12GB or 24GB in clamshell mode, and we know Nvidia won't even bother with a 24GB 5070. Nvidia likely won't be increasing memory bus widths either, since they're betting on larger caches. The best one can hope for is that a refresh (5070 Super?) eventually comes out with 3GB modules. That would mean 18GB at 192-bit.
      I'm not holding my breath to see a good 16GB card for a decent price, though. RDNA 4 or RDNA 5 will be in my next rig.

    You know what would happen if every consumer stopped buying Nvidia GPUs? Nothing, they would still be rich af because 80+% of their revenue is from Data centers, they could care less even if they sell a 5070 for $1000, in their eyes, they are doing you a favor because they are neglecting opportunity cost in the data center market. This is what a dystopian society looks like ladies and gentlemen, corporations have grown so much power that they can literally do whatever they please and you would still have to buy from them because they own the industry essentially.

      Sorta, they sell gaming GPUs to have something to fall back onto, so they don't specialize in less areas and to keep leading the market. If it wasn't important they wouldn't be making them, It's still an important market for Nvidia. If people don't buy their GPUs and buy from a competitor they'll have to change their strategy, because it opens doors for their competitor to grow big and compete even in data center market. I don't think it's hopeless, even if it may seem so at a glance. What makes it hopeless is consumers choosing to continue paying extreme prices and supporting the monopoly, for instant gratification.

      @@madrain9898 I think market share doesn't matter too much, Intel has huge market share on CPUs but AMD is still beloved and they innovate. AMD just needs more capital and innovation in GPUs which they currently don't have. I remember when AMD wasn't that good though, it was about 12 years ago or so. Advertising will definitely turn a lot of people away but it won't work long-term unless Nvidia can continue to innovate and stay competitive price wise. If they get too out of line people will basically "switch to android". Humans have limited capital, so they will buy a cheaper Nvidia card, which will eventually be noticeably slower than a competitors card and they will get laughed at. I'm actually an Nvidia fan, but I'm starting to feel with the pricing, my next buy will be team Red. Unless they somehow mess it up badly again.

    The 4070 Super is a sub 600 dollar GPU that will barely be beat by the 5070, years later in an entirely new generation. This is ridiculous. Consumers have got to step their game up and understand the overarching snowball they are helping to cause when they purchase these things. This is going to change gaming forever, and if you are buying these as a gamer, that includes you. Unless people want crappy CPU releases every year because the mid range doesn't need to worry about bottlenecking on mid range GPUs, and if you want all your games to rely solely on AI Upscaling in the future as a substitute for rasterization, and if you want only people who can afford to buy these things as the only people in your empty game lobbies, you need to think about how you affect the consumers in your communities. Go buy a used 4070 Super. F these guys. Turn the settings down. Buy a used ADA card. I will not buy a GPU at these prices even if it means playing on Legacy drivers or just not gaming on AAA games at all. Not sure where those performance/increase estimates are coming from for the 5070. IIRC MLID's source, Nvidia were comparing the 5070's performance favorably to only the 4070 Ti (not to the Ti Super) while also floating an MSRP of $600 to 700. Now *that* would be my main gripe with this card as it seems to continue the trend established with the OG 4070.
    All according to Techpowerup:
    2070 = 112% vs 1080 (and I seem to remember that the 2070 non-Super was considered a bit of a disappointment itself at launch)
    3070 = 105% vs 2080 Ti (!!) -- 120% vs 2080 Super -- 126% vs 2080
    4070 = 114% vs 3070 Ti -- 94% vs 3080 (only the 4070 Super-update brought the card to the performance I would've expected at launch)
    Based on the leak claiming that Nvidia were only mentioning the 4070 Ti (but not the Ti Super) getting beat by the 5070, I'll add my own speculation:
    5070 = ~ 95% vs 4070 Ti Super -- ~103% vs 4070 Ti -- ~83% vs 4080 .... and with only 12 GB and, supposedly, for at least $600, possibly 700.
    If all of this is only roughly correct, I might as well wait for a good deal on a 4070 Ti Super (or buy 2nd hand) and get the same (or slightly higher) level of performance than I would from the 5070. Plus the Ti Super *does* have 16 instead of 12 GB. Or I'd just keep my current 4070 Super which is very close to OG 4070 Ti levels of performance and also only has 12 GB.
    My point being: Why would I even upgrade to 50xx, given the price points and performance per dollar values? For that I'd be looking for 5070 Ti Super performance (as a minimum) and for 4070 kind of money (550 to 600).

    I also want to point out that this is DDR7 vs. DDR6. DDR7 is 40-50 percent faster memory, and it's more expensive, but it's staying 600 usd. Also, the memory bus got a significant upgrade as well. So if you're playing 1080p or 1440p, this card is going to be insanely quick for you.

    In the past, electronics or computer parts were unaffected by inflation because they were non-essential items. Food is affected because you need it anyway to survive. Inflation more recently has been too much too fast and everything has gone up astronomically. If Nvidia wants to sell gaming graphics cards, they have to give us lower prices. These cards aren't that big of an upgrade, so they should be cheaper. The opposite of what you'd expect is what's happening. Nobody who is an actual gamer is going to want these at those prices. Ever since RTX, prices have been too high for what you get.
