Ralph- Whipping and knots are easily forgotten that’s why we always revisited them every year. If you don’t do a bowline for a few years you forget. “..and it’s gone”. 😂👍
Glad you got the decals from Magdad, that crown wheel needed to be repainted - great job ! I referred to your previous whipping tutorial, when I recently repaired a long handled garden fork that had split just above the socket - tightbond into the fibres then whipping cord applied then more tightbond soaked into the whipping and dried - good as new - thanks ! Enjoy Jacktown - wishing I could join you !
I think I liked it original, you know pick it up and use it. I don’t feel that way all the time. I enjoyed the lesson on whipping. You’re right about moms, enjoy them while you have them. My mom past 23 years ago . Thank you
From a Sunday blues to MishMosh Monday😂 The days just fly by here. Wish I could be in that raffle! Though it would be cool having it all done up for the show. I know how much work that is though!! I have 5 that all need doing! Hope you'll have a great week! Thanks Scoutcrafter.
Awesome Monday mosh with a little bit of everything. Great tips on the whipping. Haven’t needed to do that on any ropes I have but always a good skill to learn. The drill turned out great. Much better with the fresh paint and new label. Once again I’m going to miss Jacktown due to another boring graduation ceremony. Thankfully it’s the last one.😂
John the drill really came out great . I wasn't going to get a good nights sleep until you finished it! Lol . I hope the patina boys are able to deal with it. Wish i good be there for the raffle! ✌🇺🇸
The drill turned out great, thanks for the whipping,I needed that. We used flocking on the interiors for our model cars,it worked real well. Great episode as usual!
That was really interesting on learning how to whip the cut ends of a rope. I always wondered how it was done. The drill looks great and the case was beautiful. Thanks for sharing this.
I enjoyed the whipping lesson. It’s so interesting. And I enjoy your electrical tutorials. You do such a nice job on your homemade extension cords. So clean and nice! Wish I lived close to PA. But way too far for a weekend trip!
`Lots of nice tips but the best one today is the strain relief. The wire never fits and I usually use electrical tape but it's mushy and not good enough. The addition of heat shrink tubing is genius.
@@ScoutCrafter We have plenty of it. Be a treat to you have you around BUT we don't have quite as much along the line of a Jacktown or Elephant's Trunk. They don't seem to be very heavily advertised any way. I live in the more rural part outside of Omaha. If you can stay out of the city but be close by, that's the ticket.
John, the hand drill needed that new sticker and red paint. I'd do the black too just to make it prettier. lol I have been looking forward to Jacktown. Hopefully it won't be crazy hot like last year. George
The whipping was flocking awesome 😂. I never knew thats how it was done. Looks simple enough. The breast drill looks great. Nice balance of new and patina.
Hi Scout, I have to tell you, your videos are always interesting. I love it when I find a nice, long, heavy duty electrical cord on an appliance in the rubbish. Sump pumps seem to have a rubberised jacket and they’re always long. Just a quick point with the whipping, I use a heavy nylon upholstery thread and on the nylon instead of wood glue I find super glue is perfect. It also soaks in very quickly. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺
That box jumped out at me on the other video, I don't know what that one was used for but every time I see a box like that I think of it as a Microscope Box even though they were used for many things. High School Biology Classroom had a bunch of Microscopes stored in those boxes so ever since I've always called them Microscope Boxes.
DEVO fan here and you whipped it good! 🎶🎸🎹 Nice paint and decal on the drill. I probably missed your explaining on an earlier vid how those drills are 2 speeds.
It's difficult to explain - best to just go watch the video. Basically there are two different holes in the drill where you can insert the gear axle. This allows engaging two different ratio gear sets.
Hey John, Great whipping tutorial. Beautiful drill👏! I still collect cord off old appliances.. my wife always asks why.. and so many times it has got me and other out of stuck😉 and I can’t stop collecting. Great video, cheers Rob
Very nice video S.C.. You always do amazing work.. I have a question about flocking.. What if you had steel braided line instead of rope.. Would you weld it or braze it.. I always wondered about that.. maybe you could do that on one of your videos... Well nuff said, S.C. have a great week and God Bless...
Some cables become brittle if heated too much. Often wire rope or cable has a loop or end affixed to the cable. You can also whip the wire rope with wire then twist it secure after winding. 😃👍
Thanks for the whipping lesson, I will put that to gppd use! Now that drill is a wall hanger...I like the wood handle left original and it looks great!
In the model train world, there is Micro-Sol, Micro-Set fluids that will soften decals to let them shrink around small details. CHAMP decal fluid is still out there, though it hasn't been manufactured in years...people like me treat it like gold.
I have a couple of very sharp diagonal cutters that work so nice getting a close cut to the whipping. Honestly any cutting implement will work but sometimes I need an excuse to use the tools I bought years ago. 😂👍
Thanks for the whipping demo. I was a Boy Scout a half a century ago and I should know this. I hang my head in shame. The drill came out great!
Ralph- Whipping and knots are easily forgotten that’s why we always revisited them every year. If you don’t do a bowline for a few years you forget. “..and it’s gone”. 😂👍
Very good idea, using heat shrink as whipping. Never would have thought of that.
Good show and now I know how to whip. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Jacktown!
Like the heat shrink used for whipping, simple and quick and preps the rope for immediate use.thanks for the video sir.
It caused me to have a "Duh, why didn't I think of that? " moment! So easy
Thank you…heading to 30,000 👍👍👍
If I wasn't 4000 miles away in England, I would definitely be there at Jack town😀
I'm glad the decal worked for you!
Glad you got the decals from Magdad, that crown wheel needed to be repainted - great job !

The drill and Magdads decal looks better than new. See you at Jacktown on Saturday.
Dave.

Jacktown is gonna be flocking awesome!
Great video, the drill came out beautiful. If i make to Jacktown, on Saturday, I'll be sure to say hello. Thanks
God gave us mothers to remind us of unconditional love.

The glass dome toy car instantly reminded me of the Orbitron!
The Red on that drill really pops. Great job. Will see you Saturday at Jacktown. Can't wait to check out all the deals up there.
Okay The Drill Looks Good . Have Fun Scout At Jacktown ! Looking Forward to Seeing What You And Magdad Get .

Love how that rope whipping is done and my oh my how nicely that drill looks now that is amazing can’t wait for Saturday 👍
I do like the drill better painted and that was really cool of 357 magdad to supply the decal. Good tip on using heat shrink for the whipping.
The drill looks so much better painted! Thanks for the lesson on whipping.
That decal really makes that drill a gem. Cheers
John the drill really came out great . I wasn't going to get a good nights sleep until you finished it! Lol . I hope the patina boys are able to deal with it. Wish i good be there for the raffle! ✌🇺🇸
Those lightbulb holders that plug directly into an outlet are a really good idea.
We don't have those over here in the UK sadly.
The drill turned out great, thanks for the whipping,I needed that. We used flocking on the interiors for our model cars,it worked real well. Great episode as usual!

The decal came out flockin' good too 👍 Looking forward to this week's shows! Good stuff, Mr. John!
I do like the old type of rope jute twine is fun to play with this winter on handles You can clear coat decals to protect them

Man, that Goodell-Pratt hand drill is just wicked, now! Gotta find me one of those to restore. Just yummy!
In Nebraska we call that “glass dome” a fuel sediment bowl.
John- I’ve been looking at property in Nebraska!!! 😃👍

Better than it looked from the factory

Excellent
A flocking awesome mosh. 🇺🇸

Great tutorial on the whipping! Reminds me of wrapping thread for eyelets on fishing poles! That decal and paint turned out great! Great show!
"Flocking awesome " 😂😂

...GOOD ONE , GOOD ADVICE ON CORD ENDS, HAVE A GREAT WEEK...
Oh that drill looks so much better! Sorry I can’t make it to the raffle 😩. Good stuff today John. Thank You for sharing.
Thanks for showing us how to do Whipping. I really like the look of the cotton string. Thanks.
Thanks John.
The video quality was great this time
Another great episode. Thanks for the whipping tricks. Having to soak the decal in water reminded me of building model cars.
DEVO fan here and you whipped it good! 🎶🎸🎹 Nice paint and decal on the drill. I probably missed your explaining on an earlier vid how those drills are 2 speeds.

Wish I'd be at jacktowne meet maybe one day
That's so great good luck to whoever wins and congratulations in advance great video as always
Good show today. I won’t make this show, but maybe the next one.
Hey John, Great whipping tutorial. Beautiful drill👏! I still collect cord off old appliances.. my wife always asks why.. and so many times it has got me and other out of stuck😉 and I can’t stop collecting. Great video, cheers Rob

Now that you’ve covered whipping, it’s time to break out the Boy Scout Fieldbook and do splicing and lashing.
You whipped it good!
This was a flocking awesome video. 🤪😜
Another fine post John, cheers !
That paint + decal really make this POP!
A very enjoyable video as always, in fact it was flocking awesome!
Great video lots of information
Great video. That drill looks great. Looks better than new. 👍👍❤.
Great Mosh. Drill came out beautiful.
That drill looks great with the new paint and decal!
You are an artist. Great video.
Thanks for the whipping lesson, I will put that to gppd use! Now that drill is a wall hanger...I like the wood handle left original and it looks great!
Jacktown!! Fat, Dumpy, Glasses and Backpack, got it!!☻
😂😂😂
The flocking for the old GI Joe action man heads for hair lol
Another great video! That drill looks incredible!
I SOOOOOOOOOO needed this and a BIG VIC video!!! THANKS!!!
Did you say 357 made the decal...
Drill looks...🤔...new...😩...🖖
Fantastic show thanks
Will see you at 10 , I will be on my red scooter ,I thought it was 11 but I read the transcript to be sure of the Time 😊
Yes 10am at the Gazebo. 😃👍
I just saved a cord from a Skil worm drive last night.
Worm drive saws are awesome!
I couldn't save it, it was abused by a company that does plaster work. Evidently they never use an air compressor
How did you make that decal lay flat on a curved surface, looks great?
In the model train world, there is Micro-Sol, Micro-Set fluids that will soften decals to let them shrink around small details. CHAMP decal fluid is still out there, though it hasn't been manufactured in years...people like me treat it like gold.
That was a flocking cool mosh scout ha ha great stuff god bless take care 🇺🇸🗽🇳🇿😎👍🙈45
That gear sounded like the hub cap off dad's car... last sound after I crashed it.
Gotcha 👍👍🔩🔩
Was that a Box for a Microscope?
THAT HAND DRILL LOOKS BRAND NEW.
Superb tutorial.
Flocking Awesome, that's funny.
I knew from the last video that 'ya just couldn't leave it alone. "Ya just had to strip all the character off of it. lol 🤣
Don't think we haven't noticed Snoopy moving around. Even if we don't mention it, we do, fella. 13:46
I swear when my dad's 69 Chevy pickup motor blew up . He kicked the tire and yelled " I broke my Flocking toe"
epoxy works great to glue the end of the whipping.
A saying that helps me remember what terminals the wires connect to is Black Gold and White Silver. You said it was polarized does mean film?
Polarized just means the plug can only go in one way, the neutral blade of the plug is 20% larger so it only fits one way. 😃👍
@@ScoutCrafter I know I was making a joke as in polaroid Kodachrome Sorry it wasn't funny! past tense of having your picture taken your polarized.
Hey, John, would dipping the end in activated fiber glass resin work by creating a more resilient end?
Fiberglass resin is almost identical to epoxy. I bet it would make an excellent method to secure the rope ends! 😃👍
Awesome video as always! Is there anything you can spray on or apply to a really dry old rope that will help extend its life?
Hester- If I buy a old dried out rope I hand wash it and rinse it with Downy fabric softener. It really seems to bring the life back! 😃👍
@@ScoutCrafter I’ll have to give that a try! Thanks Scout👍🏻
Who da thunk?!
Just for the guy's under 30, can you explain where the battery goes, on that drill.. 🤣🤣
Heloo scout, why did you use a wire cutter at 3:39 to cut rope, I always use a utility knife maybe you know more thanks.
I have a couple of very sharp diagonal cutters that work so nice getting a close cut to the whipping. Honestly any cutting implement will work but sometimes I need an excuse to use the tools I bought years ago. 😂👍
Euler is pronounced "oiler"
What a Mosh, Scout! Only thing I could fault, Euler is not pronounced YOU-LER, it's OILER - go figure.
I never knew that! Thanks!!! 😃👍
