Filter ideas. Quilt Batten can be used. Hand washed and used many times. Also they make washable furnace filters that work great. Walmart used to sell the washable furnace filters. They are big then cut them to size.
Hi John, you are so right about organizing your shop. I am dealing with so much stuff but am determined to have “A place for everything and everything in its place. I have gone with plastic bins. Like shoe box and some bigger ones. I also have a 100 sewing machines and lots of service parts(motors, lights, foot pedals, etc). I have a lot of space but have a lot of equipment, a ShopSmith, 6” Craftsman Jointer, band saw drill press two welders, a cabinet saw…. The list goes on. My inner engineer comes out. I set up an initial to scale floor plane and other plans. I can see it in my head and will make it all come together in the near future. Haven’t commented on the last few videos but as always enjoy your content very much. Nice v-block and scribe. Another one with great tutorial content. Best Regards, John

Man I love that card shuffler. My grandmother and I used to play cards all the time when I was a kid. She would have been tickled to death with a little gadget like that. She was very smart and clever. Shed have been interested how it works. Great memories, I sure miss her.
I have the love hate relationship with boxes. I like things put away but it almost might as well be thrown away because out of sight out of mind. Love the card shuffler. So many were cheap junk that didn't really work. As your hands start to stiffen they are nice although in reality I don't play cards anymore as no one else does. As a family we almost always got togeter for an evening of cards. Food was just sandwiches and something to drink. Soda or milk for kid, coffee and tea for adults.
I'm on a big electrical parts organization mission over the past week. It started looking for a low voltage transformer and went from there. I've been trying to spend an hour or two a day getting it all better organized. I got a folding table set up, a dozen of those plastic shoe box totes and a couple of toolboxes I'm completely going thru and reorganizing. I've been wrapping all the wires with those cloth covered hair bands, much nicer than regular rubber bands, I think I paid about a half penny a piece thru one of the discount sites. I believe I started with about 300 and I'm down to about 20 now. BTW I rarely use cardboard boxes, can't stand them. Clearish totes when possible.
The filtration on the 20” fan is good idea. I built a frame that lets me slide in. It hangs upside down in the shop. The kleins is a great investment. It’s your own life you are protecting. The light is ok for the money. I have one Sylvania gave me when I worked for them. The batteries it came with I’m going to replace after 14 years. I’ve been lucky with them. It’s a great light. Free From Debris! That's what I have been working on for the past few months. I love the Amazon bought plastic and clear top small parts organizer for my hardware. They are relatively cheap and I have labeled each so I can look at the labels and pull out the one I need. I probably have 25-30 of these organizers. They're great.

The last time I needed a box fan, I went to, where else, the Salvation Army. I couldn't find one (believe it or not) out front so I asked the kid in the back. He said ,"Oh yeah." And he pulled out an ancient GE that was at least twice as heavy as the modern Wal*Mart version. Did my best Scoutcrafter Clean Up on it and budda-bing, budda-boom, I had a box fan for life. Oh yeah, I asked the kid how much? Being too lazy to walk up front, he said, "Just take it." Well, although I'm from the If-it's-Free-It's-for-Me School, I gave the twerp a fiver and got outta there before he changed his mind. PS-Did you paint Skeletor white? Regardless of what your sweetie says, it would make one hell of a door knocker.

John, have you tried the Milwaukee electrician's ECX screwdriver? I got the 3 piece set a couple of years ago and find myself always using the ECX whenever I install outlets. It gives a nice firm feeling tightening the screws.
John, if you have a clamp-meter and a wire-splitter, it would be interesting to see the change in current draw on the fan between baseline, air-filter, and paper towel. Add to that the motor/bearing temperature in all three cases. The thought is any hidden heat or safety issues…

The price isn’t bad for the three especially made in the USA 🇺🇸 👍. That Dollar 💵 Tree 🌳 light 💡 looks pretty good to have around for emergencies and whatnot . You can’t beat that for a $1.25 . The v block and Starret scribe came out beautifully. Well worth the hour you spent. Its not often that I see v blocks for sale, but when I do, they never have their screw cramps.
I learned the hard way to always use insulated screwdrivers and never trust anyone else to trip a breaker. I was doing some work years and years ago on the first apartment i bought and i asked my then girlfriend to flip the breaker for the power outlets in the lounge, took the cover off an outlet with a regular screwdriver and went to disconnect the terminals and wallop got hit with 240V. As it turned out she tripped the breaker for the sockets in the kitchen.
Matthew- Two weeks ago I was working on a porch light, the switch was off so I figured I was OK, put the screwdriver into the socket and ZAP!⚡️ 🫣😂. Needless to say from now on I throw the main and just reset the clocks. 😂⚡️
I saw those flashlights at Dollar Tree. I thought they were junk. Now I’ll have to grab a couple. Where did you find those generic paper towels? They look like something from the no frills aisle of Path Mark or Food Town. Great topics.
In the case of insulated tools you can trust the VDE certification. Klein got the VDE certification a few years ago. They wanted to become big in Europe. Thing is they are unknown here, and their prices here in Germany are insane. For that purpose they developed the EINS (electricians insulated) pliers series, so they have a competitive product to the European insulated pliers. The usual American pliers had always chunky insulation, but you can't work with that in confined spaces. The 1000V is for AC, for DC it could actually withstand 1500V. The tests the manufacturers have to perform on every single insulated tool (!) they produce is 10,000VDC insulation test. That procedure is required by the IEC 60900. The international electrotechnical commission creates international standards. The IEC 60900 defines how an insulated tool must be made and tested, and also the markings on it. These two triangles mark it as an insulated tool, and that's how it should be marked all across this globe. Electricians here usually have two sets of tools here. An insulated one for daily work, the insulation is an additional layer of safety because usually we work on isolated circuits that are dead. But sometimes we don't have that luxury to isolate a circuit, for example in hospitals. Then we got a set of tools that is only used for that purpose. Like the Sunday tools. In addition we use protective clothing and stand on an insulated rubber mat. But we also deal with 230V against ground and 400V between the three lines (three phase is standard here).
Hello Marcel! Thankyou for that information. There has been a flood of high voltage tools from Asia but like everything else from China it can’t be trusted. These screwdrivers do feel like a quality product. Thanks again! 😃👍
@@ScoutCrafter That was never an issue here. Due to the fact that insulated tools are so common, they were always cheap. Seven part insulated screwdriver set from Wera for 25 Euros (27 Dollar).
My kid brother had a card shuffler back in the early 60's powered by 3 D cells. I'm sure it ended up in the trash once the batteries leaked (all carbon-zinc cells did). Too bad. BTW you can extend the life of your pleated filter by placing the paper towels in front of the 20x20, the paper will catch the worst of the particles leaving the pleated filter with just the finer stuff to catch.
what about using a washable filter? I use a CoreCarbon polyester washable filter in my furnace. The up front cost is more, but I've used the same filter for that past 3 years. BIODEFENSOR also makes a good one.
Seb- I haven’t restored a full tool yet but I think it will work! (Hope) 😂. My basement is climate controlled so rusting isn’t an issue if the part is polished and waxed. 😃👍

Gary- I think 600 and 800 lumens. The milling machine is an entry level machine perfect for small projects and also I could carry it into my basement shop alone! 😂. Grizzly makes some great stuff and some not so great stuff. Basically all Asian machines from China- Most people today are looking to Taiwan for quality machines at an affordable price although it’s hard to find every machine. The best thing to do is go to a Grizzly showroom and look at the machine you are contemplating buying. 😃👍
Washable air filters!! They last forever. If you are worried about effectiveness, you can always stack the washable filter over the paper one, and the paper one will last much, much longer.
Jim- Yes- Friday is only for setting up and not officially part of the weekend activities. Vendors do sell but there is no concession stands or activities going on Friday. 😃👍

In the case of insulated tools you can trust the VDE certification. Klein got the VDE certification a few years ago. They wanted to become big in Europe. Thing is they are unknown here, and their prices here in Germany are insane. For that purpose they developed the EINS (electricians insulated) pliers series, so they have a competitive product to the European insulated pliers. The usual American pliers had always chunky insulation, but you can't work with that in confined spaces.
The 1000V is for AC, for DC it could actually withstand 1500V. The tests the manufacturers have to perform on every single insulated tool (!) they produce is 10,000VDC insulation test. That procedure is required by the IEC 60900. The international electrotechnical commission creates international standards. The IEC 60900 defines how an insulated tool must be made and tested, and also the markings on it. These two triangles mark it as an insulated tool, and that's how it should be marked all across this globe.
Electricians here usually have two sets of tools here. An insulated one for daily work, the insulation is an additional layer of safety because usually we work on isolated circuits that are dead. But sometimes we don't have that luxury to isolate a circuit, for example in hospitals. Then we got a set of tools that is only used for that purpose. Like the Sunday tools. In addition we use protective clothing and stand on an insulated rubber mat. But we also deal with 230V against ground and 400V between the three lines (three phase is standard here).

@@ScoutCrafter That was never an issue here. Due to the fact that insulated tools are so common, they were always cheap. Seven part insulated screwdriver set from Wera for 25 Euros (27 Dollar).
My kid brother had a card shuffler back in the early 60's powered by 3 D cells. I'm sure it ended up in the trash once the batteries leaked (all carbon-zinc cells did). Too bad.
BTW you can extend the life of your pleated filter by placing the paper towels in front of the 20x20, the paper will catch the worst of the particles leaving the pleated filter with just the finer stuff to catch.
There comes a point when the fan will stress if there is little airflow. I’m going to test that theory! Amp meter! 😃👍
what about using a washable filter? I use a CoreCarbon polyester washable filter in my furnace. The up front cost is more, but I've used the same filter for that past 3 years. BIODEFENSOR also makes a good one.

Gary- I think 600 and 800 lumens. The milling machine is an entry level machine perfect for small projects and also I could carry it into my basement shop alone! 😂. Grizzly makes some great stuff and some not so great stuff. Basically all Asian machines from China- Most people today are looking to Taiwan for quality machines at an affordable price although it’s hard to find every machine. The best thing to do is go to a Grizzly showroom and look at the machine you are contemplating buying. 😃👍

Washable air filters!! They last forever. If you are worried about effectiveness, you can always stack the washable filter over the paper one, and the paper one will last much, much longer.
Did you ever get the stroboscope working? If not are you going to try to get it working or is there a lager problem with it?
