Thank you for an excellent video. I have been visiting Switzerland most years since 1971! In 2024 I went twice. I entirely agree with what you said about Gornergrat. It is in my view the best mountain ride in Switzerland. Note in particular it is way ahead of Jungfrauchjoch; and the fare is MUCH MUCH CHEAPER!
We love meeting other travelers who enjoy Switzerland as much as us! You have probably been to so many places
with your years of experience 🤩
And yes, Gornergrat is a top destination for a Swiss vacation. Like you said, great ride, amazing views, and affordable price!
I have only been to Zermatt once for a couple of hours, and the ride to the Gornergrat is exactly what we did. The view is literally breathtaking.
Perfect choice! That’s exactly what we’d recommend. So glad you enjoy the experience!
I'd also recommend the Hörnlihütte. It's a bit harder than most walks, but the views are fantastic and if you go a bit further you can get to the start of the first pitch where the real climbing starts.
That’s high on our list to try on our next visit! We’ve heard such good things about it and saw the trail from the Glacier Trail too 🤩
I like you and your videos a lot! I would also recommend a beautiful 2-3h hike + taking pictures to Hörnlihütte. Loved it!❤
Thank you for the encouragement 🥰 That’s one hike we haven’t done yet but it’s high in our list for our next visit!
Great video - must get in some of these over the summer this year.
But surely the number 1 thing to do in Zermatt has to be skiing. 🎿
We hope you get to enjoy all of these experiences! While you can ski year round at Glacier Paradise, we didn’t include that in our list because we wanted to focus on summer activities.
Going here tomorrow, very timely uploaded video. Was the top video when I just searched “Zermatt”
Love the timing of this! Hope you have a great time!!
I am planning to go in March. Your videos have been invaluable. I am planning to buy a Swiss Half Fare travel pass and Swiss Hotel Card. We are going on the Glacier Express and on to Zurich.
You're trip is almost here! We hope you have a wonderful time. So glad our videos have been helpful!
@AplinsintheAlps i think you sound like nate from @karaandnate. You may come from the same state
Ha! We actually do all come from Middle TN :)
Thanks. I only really splurged on one thing in my trip in July, and that was the Matterhorn glacier Paradise. I try to travel and see and do things that I can’t at home. That was the first thing I did. Then it was all more affordable, Mountain and high Alpine Road driving experiences. Remember the discount for doing that and the corner at the same time.
So fun that you were able to visit Glacier Paradise! And you’re right, if you visit in the peak summer months, you can get a discounted ticket to visit both Glacier Paradise and Gornergrat on the same day 👍
Great content guys l keep browsing your channel for a complete ski/snowboard guide, but I guess you guys aren't into that, I'll keep looking! Visiting soon from Canada!
Yeah, we haven't quite gotten into the winter sports yet.(not for a lack of interest) Maybe in the future we'll have more information about them.
We loved Gornergrat! We stayed at Hotel Beau Rivage which is owned by Olympic Gold Medal skier Max Julen and his family. His restaurant at the hotel is second to none. Be sure and order the Chateaubriand which is the best we’ve ever eaten anywhere! The family is so friendly and we learned so much about Zermatt from them and the hotel is full of Swiss charm! Bonus: The rooms overlook the main cemetery which is beautiful by day and gorgeous at night with all the candlelight throughout it! We learned so much about the families that take care of it. We hope to be back soon!
Thanks for the recommendations - we love hearing about your experiences! We have eaten in their restaurant and were very impressed 🤩 Hope you get to come back again one day to enjoy their family and the mountains!
Awesome video! Riding mountain carts and petting sheep have me sold on another trip to Switzerland
Yay, we’re happy to encourage you to visit again! There are always new places and activities to explore 🤩 Enjoy the mountain carts and sheep!!
You guys nailed this. Gornergrat (and everything you can do on the way down) is breathtaking and fun.
We completely agree! It’s an awesome way to spend a day in Zermatt by visiting Gornergrat and the intermediary stations! (And the sheep 🐑 too!)
Great video as usual! It’s very helpful to prioritize given limited time. Guessing Brett likes the sauna because it reminds him of TN summers….
So glad you found this list helpful to make your travel plans! Haha that’s true, Tennessee can be hot in the summers 🥵🤪
I enjoy your videos they are very helpful and full of knowledge. I am planning on vising Switzerland in August.
We're so glad you find them helpful! August is a great time to visit!
Great video; I’ve only been to zermatt for the day (when we stayed in sass fee) and, yes, we went up the Gornegrat!
I’d love to go back to zermatt but I’m not that much of a fan of the lunar landscape! Give me green alps any day!
So glad you made it to Gornergrat! I’m surprised you haven’t spent more time here since you’ve been all over the country. Maybe on your next trip 🙃 But we agree that it’s much browner and rockier…and one reason why we love the Jungfrau region so much!
What time can we go to Zermatt? Can you advise right time (winter or summer) for there? Thanks in advance 🎉
This video features summer activities, although you can also visit in the winter as well!
Did you do the kickbike ride from Sunnegga back to town?
We rode trottibike from Schwarzsee to Zermatt…and do NOT recommend them! It was too rocky to cruise, our hands were sore from gripping the brakes, and we often had to walk (push) them. The mountain carts from Blauherd are muchhhh better!
@@AplinsintheAlps Agreed! I thought they were pretty dangerous at times, and was relieved when the ride was over.
