Need help planning your Swiss vacation to the Jungfrau Region? Jumpstart your trip-planning with this list of must-visit spots!
1 | BEST VIEWPOINT - 360 degrees of breathtaking views of Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Schynige Platte, Interlaken, and even to Lake Thun!
2 | MOST SCENIC TRAIN RIDE - As you zigzag up a mountain, look out of the historic train windows to see alpine meadows, the teal Lake Brienz, and endless views of the Swiss Alps.
3 | FAVORITE WATERFALL - Glacier-fresh water cascades down 14 steps and 500 meters toward Lake Brienz. This Swiss waterfall is special because you can walk behind it!
4 | NUMBER 1 ADRENALINE ACTIVITY - Get your heart rate pumping by scaling a cliff face, whizzing along a zipline, balancing on a tightrope, and daring to cross a swinging suspension bridge.
5 | CAN’T MISS CAFE - If you’re a coffee lover, then you’re not gonna want to miss the best cafe in the Jungfrau Region, complete with extra large coffees and extra amazing views.
6 | MOST STUNNING SUNSET SPOT - It’s tough to see the sun dip below the horizon while you’re in the mountains, but this spot captures the golden hour on the mountains and the lakes!
7 | BEST CABLE CAR RIDE - Did you know that you can ride on TOP of a cable car?! There is only one place to experience this thrill in the Jungfrau Region!
8 | FAVORITE SHORT HIKE - The Swiss Alps are a hikers paradise, and this approachable trail leads you by alps, cows, mountain restaurants, waterfalls, and villages - with jaw dropping views the entire time!
9 | FUN FAMILY ADVENTURE - Calling kids of all ages to this mountain coaster/toboggan ride and the opportunity to fly through the trees!
10 | BEST GELATO - This may not be Italy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy authentic gelato! (It’s even made by Italians, which explains why it’s so delicious!)
11 | FUNNEST PLAYGROUND - You don’t have to be a child to enjoy this zip line, mini maze, cow slide, or bowling alley. Trust us…we play a bit every time we’re here!
12 | CAN’T-MISS FARM FRIDGE - Self-service farm fridges are worth a stop for the Swiss cheese and sausage. But our favorite one also includes handmade gifts, decor, jam, sirop, pasta, cookies, and even ice cream!
13 | BEST PLACE TO BIKE - Why not explore this flat valley on 2 wheels! You can see more on a bike than on foot, plus it’s an enjoyable way to see Switzerland from a different perspective. Psst - this is e-bike approved!
14 | PRETTIEST PICNIC SPOT - Pick up some food from the grocery store and pack a picnic, then enjoy your lunch with a view! We’re talking about mountains upon mountains within your gaze, and right beside an alpine lake too.

This awesome couple helped me plan a great trip to Switzerland last summer. I highly recommend their 1 week guide (worth the small fee) plus the videos to help you plan your trip.
Thanks so much for your support and encouragement! Glad we could help!
Your videos are truly incredible, and this one is a gem!! I’ve visited Switzerland countless times in the last 2 decades, but have never hiked the Northface trail, so cannot wait to do it on my visit this June😀 Your videos and guides are my number one go-tos for trip planning! Keep up the awesome work!! ❤
Awww, thank you, we’re humbled that our resources are your go-to!!! 🥰And even though we live here, we still find so many new things to do too! Enjoy the Northface trail when you come later this year! 😊
I visited Switzerland this week and you took all the guess work out of train tickets, how to get to Jungfrau and so much more. Thanks so much for all the great tips! Had an incredible time and wish I could stay longer!
Wow, that’s fantastic! We are so happy to help simplify the planning and equip you to travel with confidence! And we truly hope you get to come back and visit again one day 😊
So excited for our trip, and your videos are exactly what I need. I watch with a notebook and scribble your picks as quick as I can! Thanks so much!
So glad our videos are helping you plan your trip! We hope you have a wonderful time here!
Thanks for ur guides, 4 months ago we spent 5 days there, and your guidelines were amazing 🙏🏻🍻
That is so great to hear! Thanks for taking the time to let us know the guides were helpful!
Love your videos! We are heading to interlaken in June 2024 and cannot wait to try these spots! I’ve been binge watching your videos, and love your personalities 😁
Yay, summer 2024 isn’t too far away! We hope you to enjoy all of these places - and more! 😊
You guys are amazing! Ill be there soon. Thanks for helping me planning mu trip!!
Thank you! We’re happy to help 😊 Enjoy your Swiss vacation too!!
We’re planning a trip to Switzerland this year. Your video has been most helpful. Thank you
So glad we could help! Have a wonderful trip!
Great job! as always! Remembering my happiest days there in the Jungfrau region!!! 🥰
Thank you! We’re happy to remind you of your joyful Swiss vacation! 😊
@@AplinsintheAlps No no, I lived there, in Interlaken... and in Zurich... :)
Mannlichen was one of my highlights, the walk to the view point was 100% worth it 🇨🇭
Thank you for the great videos and the info in your emails. We will be visiting the Jungfrau region and Lucerne the first week of October. You have given us so much info on the areas! I'm hoping that will be a good time to visit.
We're so glad to hear that we've helping you plan your trip! We hope you have a wonderful time here.
I agree that of all the wonderful walks and places in this area the Männlichen is not to be missed and would put it number one. I’ve been to this area many times and still haven’t seen it all, maybe because there are so many pretty spots I revisit. Planning on seeing Giessbach Falls and Schynnige Platte this September. Adding the Northface Trail to my bucket list. Thanks for showing all the fabulous views.
You’re right, Männlichen shouldn’t be missed! We live here and also feel the same way, that we still haven’t seen it all 😊 Enjoy Giessbach, Schynige Platte, and Northface trail when you come visit next!
Thank you
Thanks so much for the video and all your guides, they were so helpful for our trip. Funnily enough, we actually saw you both while we were on our bus. It was one of the days we were there near the end of December. We had just finished hiking near Niederhorn, and I think you guys were picked up by the Hotel Luegibruggli Restaurant? We wanted to thank you guys for your guides, but I'm sure you were as busy as we were that day.
Thanks again! Looking forward to visiting again in the Spring time, hopefully! That way, we'll get a chance to go to Schynige Platte and the Harder Kulm.
We would have loved to meet you! If come back in the Spring and see us, please say hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to tell us that our videos and guides are helpful.
We spent 5 days in the Grindelwald area and 5 days in Ticino last June. We enjoyed the Berner Oberland area so much that we’re headed back again in September for 10 days. Your videos have been such a great help with things to do, places to eat and how to navigate the area. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to do some more exploring! P.S. the cinnamon rolls at the secret bakery were amazing! We’ll definitely be visiting them again, probably more than once lol.
So glad our videos have helped you find your way around the region and (more importantly) discover the BEST cinnamon rolls! We hope you enjoy your time here in September.
09:17-09:21 This image is very useful with all the suggested activities labelled. Keep 'em coming...
So glad to hear. Thanks for letting us know!
I love your videos! Especially this one!
I too will go the Jungfrau region next month, is the toboggan run open during february?
Thanks!
Wow! Thanks so much for your support. We are truly thankful!
Great video! My sister's name is Jana 😊. Arriving Oct 1 for a 9- day visit staying in Lucerne, Interlaken, and Zurich. So excited!
We're excited for you! We hope you have a wonderful trip!
I am coming to Grindelwald for honeymoon with my fiance in September. These videos are great 😊
Congratulations to you both! You're going to have great memories; every scenery, every moment will all be worth it!
How special! Congratulations and we hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!
Good time to come, less people, good weather, most rides still open. You'll probably use trains and cable cars a lot which means the HalfFare (aka. HalbTax) pass is a no-brainer: 50% off of all transportation, valid for 1 month, costs IIRC 120 CHF.
Thanks dear Jana and Brett for your great professional lovely video. May I ask how I can go to your favorite farm fridge in Grindelwald?
A fantastic guide - there’s still places I haven’t been to (looking at you Allemendhubel) which I need to visit :)
There are just endless places to discover - we’re still finding new ones! Hope you get to visit Allmendhubel sometime soon! 🙂
Ah, this was THE BEST video I’ve seen so far for helping me decide what to do in one day in the Jungfrau Region. We will be staying in Murren as part of a small-group tour and will have most of the day to ourselves to explore. We start the day out with our group at the Schilthorn eating breakfast and exploring the Schilthorn, and afterward have the rest of the day to ourselves. Plan? Birg thrill walk, do the 2-hour Northface Trail hike mentioned in this video, do the cogwheel train to Schynige Platte, and rent some e-bikes to explore the valley before ending our long day of exploration back in Murren. Jan and Brett, does this plan sound doable? Or have I crammed too much into one day in the regions. We cannot do everything, but I do want to decent mix and am willing to have it be a long day.
How fun! Well, we actually have a 1-Day Guide to Mürren in our shop - because if we only had one day in this area, we’d spend it there. However, we think you can do the Schilthorn and Northface trail and EITHER Schynige Platte OR ebiking, but you likely won’t have time for both. (Especially since Schynige Platte is about 1.5 hour journey 1-way from Mürren!) Have the best time here - we hope you absolutely love it!!!
@@AplinsintheAlps Thank you so much for that tidbit. I do have your guide to Murren (as well as quite a few of your other guides) and it’s great. We are very excited about our upcoming trip. Who knows, maybe we might even bump into you while we’re there next August.
You guys are awesome and Your videos are so organized and super helpful. We wanted to do mid May in this region as we prefer less crows but now contemplating waiting for another 2 weeks as we are travelling with young toddlers and wanted them to enjoy the parks but cable cars to Mannlichen / Aalmendhubal open in June I believe. My understanding is that Mannlichen may open earlier than Aalmendhubal so pls let me know if is worth moving the trip all the way to mid June just for Aalmendhubal or if there is a way to visit Aalmendhubal earlier than that ?
The Schynige Platte train won't open until early June (late snowfall this year), so from this point of view it's a good idea 🙂
Hey there, love the videos. Hows the weather in early April? I have a trip planned then
Well, this April was bizarre, wasn't it 🙂
Your videos are so helpful, thank you! I saw you took the Gotthard Express from Lucerne to Lugano via the steam train with a day saver pass, do you recommend that over just paying for an extra day on our Berner Overland pass to get us to Domodossola? Our end destination is Venice. Not sure if the Gotthard is worth the extra money considering the day saver plus the reservation price. Thank you!!
We really enjoyed the Gotthard Express! BUT, it would make for a really long day if your end destination is Venice. I think we'd recommend the fastest route in this case.
I request you to make video on jungfrau region winter guide line, like things to do, what is open and close, and how to make it budget friendly 🙏🏼
If you have already please enlighten me
Thank You 😊 🙏🏼
Thanks so much for your suggestion. This was our first winter living in Switzerland so we're hoping to start creating some winter content!
Are these places open in march and Do the mode of transport covered by Swiss pass ,thank you
If you had to pick one or the other to visit in the first week of October, Jungfrau region or Lucerne region, which would you choose? We're two couples in our 60's and active. We only have about 2 or 3 nights available in Switzerland. TY
We are visiting the Jungfrau region end of April , will most of these places be closed during this time? Thank you
Hey Jenna. At 12.15 you talking about a picking point and the pic you showed. Kindly can you tell where is that please?
This is at the benches just up the hill from the playground at Allmendhubel!
Hi, @aplinsinthealps Do you know anything about current impacts to the Schilthorn and Birg thrill walk? I have heard they are partially closed for construction.
That’s true, but it depends on the work they’re doing that day. The Schilthorn website has updated construction info, or you can ask in the Schilthornbahn station!
Hey there! I intend to visit in the coming march. Can I clarify if these attractions are open? Especially those train rides! Hope to get some answers for our planning!
Good question! March is still part of the winter season and most of the transportation is open. But it's a different experience of course. The biggest ones that won't be open are Schynige Platte, Pfingstegg, and Harder Kulm. And the via ferrata isn't open yet either. Hope this helps!
Hi Aplins, may I know if there’s closure period for grindelwald-kleinschneigg-mannlichen? Am I able to access the hiking trails, planning to visit first week of May.
You can find the operating info for those routes here: www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/live/operating-info/
Just found out mannlichen will be closed during our visit in early may, kids would have died to ride atop the cable car 😢
I am coming to Interlaken in July (just booked transport and hotel) - any ideas on how to get a guide to help me make the most of my stay?
We sell digital travel guides and think those work great for most people (aplinsinthealps.com/guides). Otherwise, we're not aware of any private tour guides, though there are lots of individual tours available on Get Your Guide: www.getyourguide.com/?partner_id=6Z1XS4Y&mkt_cmp=true
Hey Aplins! I've watched lots of your videos. I am planning a honeymoon for my fiancee, and me. I am trying to figure out the optimal time to go to Murren, to find bright, sunny days with some flowers beginning to bloom and the contrasting, snow-capped mountains? I am thinking May 1 to 30... would that be a good time?
We actually have a video that will help with this!
ua-cam.com/video/1qzwAKWh2n0/v-deo.htmlsi=HeyP3zz7QVQxBTNa
You mention a bench in Murren. Can you tell us where that actually is? I would like to stop there when I go in September. Thanks. Awesome videos, thanks for all the information and referrals. You are the best couple with Jungfrau and Lauterbrunnen region info.
Not sure which bench you mean, but there's a great one at Allmendhubel and another on the trail above the village of Gimmelwald (you'll have to hike up to this one!)
@@AplinsintheAlps It's at 7:29 of the video. I think it's the one above Gimmelwald. You're videos are great and very informative. I've watched a ton of them. I'm going to Switzerland in September for 10 days. I'll be purchasing a guide from you soon to start planning. Thanks for all the info.
Ah yes! You can get there by hiking past the Sprutz Waterfall from Mürren and then continuing down to Gimmelwald. Or if you're in Gimmelwald, you can just walk up the street above the village to reach it.
@@AplinsintheAlps Thanks. I found it on Google maps. I just bought your jungfrau region guide. Can’t wait for September and to see the beautiful valley and mountains. I’m hoping for great weather. Thanks again. Love your channel.
You're welcome! Thanks for buying our guide and have a great trip!!
If staying in the area for a week and there are things to do on either side of the valley..you think it’s a good idea to split time in murren and Grindelwald?
We do generally think a week in Mürren might be a bit long unless you just plan to hike the whole time, so a split could be a great choice! We actually made this video comparing 7 different villages in the Jungfrau Region to help you choose where to stay! ua-cam.com/video/4CR9oGeWw6I/v-deo.html
Are y’all aware of any dairy farms to visit in Lauterbrunnen or Jungfrau? I grew up on a dairy in TX and I would love to see one in Switzerland.
There are dairy farms all over the place here - Interlaken, Wilderswil, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, etc. You won't be able to miss them! (But there aren't any tours, but you might be able to meet the farmer if you see them!)
I am visiting the Jungfrau region for 8 days. Is there a town you recommend that is centrally located to everything?
Hi there! Be sure to check out this video if you haven't already, because it sounds like exactly what you're looking for! ua-cam.com/video/4CR9oGeWw6I/v-deo.html
How can I go to the secret bakery where there’s the best cinnamon roll?😅
I saw it’s in a city near Interlaken, but is there any bus or train to let me there?
Haha, love that you wanna try those amazing cinnamon rolls! You can find the bakery pinned on our map here: aplinsinthealps.com/swiss-food-near-interlaken-switzerland-what-where-to-eat-free-map/
hey which is a better (cheaper) month to travel mid may or early june¿
Hi there! Mid-May is cheaper, but early June is usually better for summer activities and hikes higher in the mountains.
Is Schynige Platte okay to visit in February?
Unfortunately Schynige Platte is only open during the summer season!
Hello , in what month and dates was this video filmed?
Hi there! We're using videos we filmed at all different types of year, but most from April through October.
Wer keine Jungfrau kennt, sollte die Schweiz verlassen! ;)))
Hi Aplins, may I know if there’s closure period for grindelwald-kleinschneigg-mannlichen? Am I able to access the hiking trails, planning to visit first week of May.
Hi there! The first week of May will likely be pretty tough high in the mountains, but that's totally based on how warm or cold the spring is. For cable car and train operating info, be sure to check out this website: www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/live/operating-info/
Thank you 😊
