Cummins 12V Valve Upgrade Inconel High Heat Resistant Nitride Wear Resisitant Black Lightning Valves

- In this video I show what happens to hard chrome valves after being run at high temps for long periods of time. I also talk about how this can lead to guide damage. I installed a set of black lightning valves from Goodson which is a higher heat alloy than the Hamilton valve option and a lot cheaper than the Cummins marine valves. These are in my personal 500rwhp trailer puller so I will be able to see how they perfrom long term and report back. Currently they have seen temps in the 1700degF range with no issues for short periods.
Learning things I didn't know I didn't know!!!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Brian Thanks for taking the time to make your videos they are really appreciated
Ditto, buddy!
Thanks for the info Brian. You are staying busy with head work it looks like!
Well that’s a nice upgrade!
Wealth of tips Brian. A future tare down will be my 4 cyl Perkins to inspect head and valve train. Being a Marine engine, hoping for the best ? Best to you over the Holidays, Bear.
another wonderful Brian video, cheers from Florida, Paul
Nice job 👍 thanks for sharing your knowledge
She will be rock solid I reckon.
Blown headgasket might of saved you from a dropped valve. At least a little good came with the bad.
Hi Brian, guys here. Welcome back to my iPad.
Glad to be here 🙂
👍👍 thanks for the video and info feller... have a good week 👊
there have saved me well when i have that type of valve
Hi Brain! Viewer fan here! Hey got a meet up fir a race Jeff Paydirt got his crane running wants to drag the fork lift!!!!!
Thanks for sharing Brian
Good days to you Brian

hey brian
nice set of valves
good video brian
Keep the cids coming
Hi Brian! Thank you very much for your videos! What’s the best way to get a hold of you?

@@bcbloc02Great! Perfect! What is your email address Brian?
is inconnel valves more common in the high powered pulling applications ?
Depends the pulling engines run such a short time a lot of times they don't really experience heat related failures. Inconel is most common in high powered sustained load applications like gensets and marine power units. It is the same material they make turbo turbines out of.
Good Luck on those India valves. Think I would rather have Chinese stuff.
Brian, Is this our only option for Inconel Valves for the 12 Valve? Did you find others available? How do we go about getting part numbers for the Marine Inconel Valves? Thanks!
I think the current number for a cummins inconel exhaust is 3802481
@@bcbloc02 Thanks for that information!
So this is off your daily driver? I was thinking you were working on old yellow drag truck
Yeah the crew cab started pouring coolant over the side of the block so I had to fix it. I did it right after I put the head back on old yellow.
KOKO…Happy Holidays
Seats? If so, are the Inconel also?
This head still has stock seats but there are higher temp versions available for them as well. The seats don't see near as high a temps because they are cooled much better.
would sodium filled valves be an option for this application?
Sodium filled is between a stainless and an inconel as far as its ability to handle heat in service.
thanks for the extra info Brian ,@@bcbloc02
NOW that's a casting # even with cataracts I can see it, #S 3.25 39〡99〡6〡00 .
