Thanks a lot Mark for another great video ! I really love your content, for many reasons, but mainly because your are such a positive person, love food, and are always so respectul of other culture, people and religions. Thanks a lot for that. I totally enjoy this Türkiye series, as I am a big fan of Türkiye. The only thing that I find a bit dissapointing, is that its so meat based. There are almost no dishes with fish or seafood included. And thats definitely also a bit thing in Türkiye. I dont want to complain, as I love your channel and its free to watch. But I wish you had included some not meat dishes, with seafood, fish or vegetarian.
I wish he ate more home cooking, or when he went to Izmir, it would've been a great opportunity to try some vegetarian Aegean dishes. But I get that he has limited time... he focused on the most popular dishes we Turks eat outside. And when we want to splurge, we usually go for meat. I obviously don't cook any of these things... it's honestly just a glimpse.
@@serra9941 Aegean dishes are phenomenally, especially these with Joghurt, slightly acidic of the Joghurt with every vegetables which exists. If you went out to dinner with a group of 10 different nationalities, the only cuisine I would recommend to you would be Turkish cuisine. Turkey is a bridge country in many senses. It is the intersection of European, Balkan, Arab, Greek, Armenian, Italian, Spanish, Polish and African cuisines. It has received immigration from different regions in every period of history. Jews who escaped from Spain, those who escaped from Germany, Russians, the Armenian and Greek cuisine inherited from the Ottoman Empire, those who came from Poland, those who came from Bulgaria, Circassians, Georgians, etc. It would be too much to describe... Levantines of Italian origin... very serious pot dishes, fish varieties, meat dishes, street food, vegetarian dishes, desserts, pastries, cakes, pasta... salads, bakery dishes, home cooking, pickled fermented products, serious cheese varieties, appetizers, drinks, sauces, etc. This is a coincidence. It is not a cuisine with a serious history, infrastructure and tradition. You will definitely find a type of cuisine that suits your palate.

My obsession with Turkey through watching years of Turkish dramas and reading history came to a crashing halt last night as i returned to the UK from a miserable trip to Istanbul. I have promised myself that i will never step foot in Turkey again. I was aware of all the videos on social media regarding racism and rude behaviour, but i did not ever imagine i would experience this myself. This was my second trip to Istanbul my first was 5 years ago. Since then, i have really noticed a change in the attitude of the Turkish public. I stayed four days, and every day we experienced some form of rude behaviour, whether it was from the police My obsession with Turkey through watching years of Turkish dramas and reading history came to a crashing halt last night as i returned to the UK from a miserable trip to Istanbul. I stayed four days, and every day we experienced some form of the locals. We were often given hostile looks on the tram or on the street. Even asking for directions became difficult as you would be spoken to as if you are stupid. Turkish people are not welcoming and make you feel as if they are doing you a favour by allowing you to be in their country. It feels as if they want to constantly remind you of that fact. With incredibly high prices you are treated as a cash cow not a human being, with every attempt made to squeeze even an extra lira out of you. My trip got even worse when i arrived at Istanbul airports second security screening, just prior to boarding. The female security lady spoke to me and my wife in limited Arabic very aggressively, not sure why even though we were speaking English to her and being ethnically Asian. (Please see Turkey racism videos towards Arabs on social media). She then proceeded to unnecessarily search my wife. The male member of staff who was also present was also extremely aggressive and made me walk through the metal detector. I was unaware i had an Istanbul fridge magnet in my pocket which obviously set off the alarm. He rudely snatched the magnet from my hand and was staring at it as if he had never seen one before. The two members of staff then worked as a team talking loudly and aggressively to me. I was then asked to walk through the metal detector again. They both attempted to dehumanize and humiliate me by asking me to walk through with my hands together infront of me like a prisoner in handcuffs. When i refused he physically pulled my arms together pushing me and became even more aggressive. I then walked through for the third time. I was only allowed to go once the two staff members realised the queue was building up. As i looked back i could see both of the staff members talking and laughing. I have had to really bite my tongue and remain quiet throughout this trip. From all the videos i have seen, there is a mob mentality in Turkey. Tourists and anyone who isn't ethnically Turkish is seen as sub-human. Had i responded to any rude behaviour on the tram or street or airport, i am quite sure i would have been another victim of this mob either by locals on the street or the police/staff at the airport. I spoke to other travellers on the plane back who were various ages and races, they all had similar complaints. Nobody deserves to go through this. I have travelled to many countries and will continue to do so. We all have the right to dignity and self respect no matter where we are in the world. Please avoid this country and travel to somewhere like Morocco where the locals honour your presence and see your visit as a compliment. My mission for the next few weeks will be to discourage as many people as i can from travelling to Turkey. We work very hard for our money and will happily spend it elsewhere.
