For people unaware, Brighton's owner Tony Bloom made a literal fortune in gambling through knowledge of statistics. He eventually created a statistics-based company on effectiveness of footballers which helped him gamble on football games. When this company did well--very fucking well--Tony bought the Seagulls at a low point. Eventually this statistics-based evaluation of players(and mangers) helped Brighton prove a point and promote themselves. As a Brighton supporter, I can remember cheering against teams who were also in the relegation scrap--it has not always been peachy. But what outsiders dont realize is that Brighton keep finding wonderkids not through humans at the top (like chelsea want to steal), but instead through their anylitical system which is under NDA, Patent law etc. Unfortunaltey for all these other clubs, the Patents cant and wont move with the humans, so good luck to the rest.
If ManU pay up £25M to the Toon, he’s all yours. Or he gardens til 2026.
He will bring the leadership and system to connecting and integrating first team, with academy team, development departement, scout departement, data and analysis departement, recruitment departement
He will look to unload his under performing, highly paid players to PIF who you managed to annoy so good luck with your TRADING to bypass your odd rules 😂

Sorry to tell you but money ball isn’t new and wasn’t invented by Tony Bloom. There’s no patent on databases.

@@goncaloferreira3804except Tony’s company is the leading company in the word in football data and is multi billion pound company. I don’t see many clubs being able to utilise the data correctly. It’s all good having it which every club has but they can’t utilise it. Brighton and Brentford are in a unique position and are here to stay

The segment on succession planning and being open with potential candidates resonated with me and my career experience.
My career started in a factory employing 1000+ people and I started as a technical apprentice. One day the CEO gave me a lift in his shiny new company car and he told me that the company had a policy of promoting from within and that I (an 18-year-old with acne) was on his radar.
Eventually, I was "promoted" and sent to work as a Sales Engineer in a subsidiary company. The same CEO told me that he would be disappointed if I didn't progress to become the Sales Director. He gave me a direct challenge, knowing that I would accept the challenge and would want to exceed his expectations. Which I eventually did and became the Managing Director
But none of that would have happened without the initial conversation in the CEO's car.

He probably is good at his job, but hes no golden irreplaceable goose. His signings at newcastle have been pants ( Gordon is hardly down go him prying him away its clear Everton needed the money and newcastle got in at a good time), theres no Brighton esque kids in the academy coming through hes had a hand in. And Brighton havent fallen apart since he left. So what you takeaway from that is he puts in places solid business structures and processes in bonkers footballing set ups and its still down the clubs ro get it right. Ita funny how the press are creaming over this story when better more succesful DOF move all the time and they never get the same attention.
