A very melodic and groundbreaking electric guitar performance. Jeff Beck was truly innovative and ahead of his time. RIP Jeff 🎸

"Jeff Beck is so far ahead of most legendary guitarists and he keeps getting better and better", this what Jimmy Page said at Jeff Beck's induction into the HOF 2009!
I can go with that. Last year my wife got tickets to see Van Morrison at the O2, but the support act was Jeff Beck and he's still amazing. He was wearing some very blingy bracelets but I expect they are to cover up wrist supports, as he's getting on! He's never been the most commercially successful guitarist, but he still pushes the electric guitar to its limits and beyond, and makes it look easy, as if anyone could do it. Of course they can't.
Better and better circa 2009. Ummmmmmmmmm no. Sorry, if course they'll pad each other at the HOF. Monster beck fan, taught me a lot....namely timbre and I could play like Beck and not have to schwank.
This is what happens when great musicians get together! I have lived during the most beautiful period of music history ever - having been born in 1956 and would not trade it for anything.
Nicky Hopkins. One of the best ever. This song is truly a conglomeration some of the finest rockers of the era. Bless them all for the gifts they've given us. R.I.P. Hop n' Moonie, they still live in our hearts and ears forever.

Timeless Bolero, blows my mind everytime i've heard it. It's really magical, when Keith's drums appears on stage it's like some electric sensation move into my soul. Really one of the top rock hymns (sorry my english).
Jeez!! What a line up for this record. Jeff Beck,Jimmy Page,John Paul Jones,Keith Moon and Nicky Hopkins!! It doesn't any better than that!! R.I.P. to Nicky Hopkins and Keith Moon.
Agreed, my friend. Could not agree with you more, in fact. This is where it all begins. And the truth of the matter is that this is the original Led Zeppelin. This is not the Yardbirds, this is not the Who, and this is not the Jeff Beck Group. This is the original Led Zeppelin. The date of this recording is, I believe, May 16, 1966, at IBC Studios in London. This is before Cream, this is before the Jeff Beck Group, this is before the Jimi Hendrix Experience, this is before the MC5, this is before Iron Butterfly and this is before Blue Cheer. In this piece you can hear the birth pangs of all the progressive rock, hard rock and headbanging heavy metal that was about to explode in the late 1960s. They recorded one other track I believe (I think it was Hi Ho Silver Lining), but this is the real gem, a sonic marvel of its time. There was talk of forming a band and taking the whole thing on the road, and I believe John Entwistle was to have been part of the new group, can you imagine that. I believe it was either John or Keith Moon who came with the name Led Zeppelin, which is what this new band was to have been called. Then the Yardbirds did a tour, and the Who did a tour and the whole idea was scrapped...until two years later after the Yardbirds dissolved, or should I say, evolved into what would become Led Zeppelin, in the summer of 1968. When you consider how early this recording was, how experimental and how great it was, and what it would eventually spawn, it's not a stretch to say that this is the single most influential recording in the history of rock.
@@gd7561 Many years ago (decades really) I read an interview with Beck in the RS and when he discussed this potential band he said they were trying to get Steve Marriot to come sing with them and that someone from Marriot's camp asked them "How would you like to be a band with no fingers?" That pretty much ended there attempt to put anything together. I'm not saying I know for certain that happened but I am certain Beck said it, because that's not a line one easily forgets, lol.
I bought the Truth album around 1974 (I was 5 when it was recorded) and it changed my world. I listen to this now and I'm no less thunderstruck from the symphony of sound that they created. Pagey's gift to Jeff, this IS the British Invasion!
This is one of the best songs in rock history, those lines at the beginning building to that explosion of a riff in the middle is just perfect. The talent on the track is evident.
My all time favorite Jeff Beck piece, such power and presence. Playing with some movers and shakers themselves. Moonie driving that rhythm and heartbeat with Jonesy, and of course Jimmy. RIP Mr. Beck, thank you for the inspiration over generations.
jimmy played the 12 string Jeff Beck played all the electric parts and is awesome! Jeff and Jimmy evengot Keith Moon to play drums! And John Paul Jones plays bass and Nicky Hopkins who I met in Berkeley plays piano! What a band!
I got to see Jeff Beck for the first time in my life play with Johnny Depp in Nashville Indiana 2022 just a few monthes ago. I never knew what Rock music could be till then he brought us history from when I was just a small child and didn't know what music really was he brought another era and then even transended this one to me that day. I am also sad that I only found him so late in my life and not when I was younger doing so many other things but I am Grateful I didnt miss it altogether and I finally had that life changing experience. I will tell you this when we get to Heaven There's going to be a hell of a band. God Bless You Jeff and Love You Jeff hope you got to hear what I wrote in the note that was attached to the gift I threw up on stage that Johnny picked up at that concert I meant what I said.
That's certainly up there with "Hocus Pocus" by Focus, "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter Group, "Red" and/or "Sailor's Tale" by King Crimson, "Interstellar Overdrive" by Pink Floyd, "Soul Sacrifice" by Santana (especially the live at Woodstock version) to name a few great rock instrumentals. I love the spacey, echoed slide guitar descending parts and the fuzz tone on the regular guitar solo. I'm surprised Keith Moon is relatively low in the mix though.
Return with us now to those thrilling (and psychedelic) daze of yester-year. This one and "Heart Full Of Soul" did it for me back then. Dynamic, divine and righteous from start to finish.
What a fantastic version of this song! It's gorgeous to begin with, real music to the ears, but this one really expresses the full beauty of "Beck's Bolero". Thanks for posting.
In 1967 the soundscape of poprecords had broadened enormously (and still without Synthesizer). I found Beck's instrumental sensational. Hendrix' All Along The Watchtower, that came a year later, too. Mind you, this came 2-3 years after the death of the Merseybeat and Surfbeat era. 1967 was an amazing revolution year.

I can hardly believe this is a 45 year old recording - it could have been released this month. I'm 52 and I find this my favorite song of all. I hope they play it at my funeral. To think this was the prototype of Led Zeppelin amazes me because I wonder what these men would have produced through the years, if "Beck's Bolero" is anything to go by... So strange that you would request this at your funeral, because I've always said the same thing about this particular track! LOL.. seems like the perfect soundtrack to exit this earthly plane.
"Last Night"? I've seen Beck live at least 30 times in the last century and he NEVER played this! So glad he's come to realize how timeless those years were.

Mate, this is simply MAJESTIC. I actually almost tear up in the eyes when I listen to this. It hits you directly in the heart and gut when the opening chord begins going into the middle of the hard-core riff then ending like a sublime atomic bomb. This IS TRUE ROCK At its FINEST. I am forever grateful for these lads who took blues into an arena and evolution that reached all corners of the globe and made it into ROCK As we know it today. Better and better circa 2009. Ummmmmmmmmm no. Sorry, if course they'll pad each other at the HOF. Monster beck fan, taught me a lot....namely timbre and I could play like Beck and not have to schwank.
Written & arranged by Page for Beck. As you know, Beck played it at his HOF induction ceremony.
@@JamezDHI50 that's very questionable. Beck always claimed that he wrote it and then Page demanded credit.
What a masterpiece!!!!! I don't think there was any better than Nicky Hopkins. R.I.P.
This is what happens when great musicians get together!
I have lived during the most beautiful period of music history ever - having been born in 1956 and would not trade it for anything.
Hello 👋 Shirley
How are you doing today?
1955 was a better year. 😁✌
Nicky Hopkins. One of the best ever. This song is truly a conglomeration some of the finest rockers of the era. Bless them all for the gifts they've given us. R.I.P. Hop n' Moonie, they still live in our hearts and ears forever.
Alas, now only JPJ and Jimmy Page are still with us. Guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck passed away today of bacterial meningitis at 78 years young. RIP Jeff Beck.
@@chuckhutton5087 Yes Indeed we've lost one of the most creative, talented, and unique guitarists of our era. Beck's Bolero and Jeff's Boogie got blasted on my system today, along with many others. In my honest opinion he didn't have any flops, they were ALL good...rock on Jeff Beck
RIP Jeff Beck, thank you for all the great music
What sound n feel..makes me sad that nobody plays like this anymore..long time fan n worshipper..rip THE BEST 🎸
Timeless Bolero, blows my mind everytime i've heard it. It's really magical, when Keith's drums appears on stage it's like some electric sensation move into my soul. Really one of the top rock hymns (sorry my english).
This is the soundtrack to an incredible and lucid dream that fades away rapidly with every waking minute.Just beautiful.
Jeez!! What a line up for this record. Jeff Beck,Jimmy Page,John Paul Jones,Keith Moon and Nicky Hopkins!!
It doesn't any better than that!! R.I.P. to Nicky Hopkins and Keith Moon.
Typo: it doesn't get any better than that.
And, sadly, Jeff Beck.
🙏 you are absolutely Correct...
I can hear every genre of rock in this short piece, even grunge!!! It is probably the single most influential piece of rock music of all time.
@@gd7561 yes, so interesting. I have been in awe of this cut since it came out. It’s a wild ride, transcendent and guttural at the same time.
I think it’s an early stage of heavy metal. Its a heavy song for1966. It’s a pioneer song.
@@gd7561 great comment. I totally agree.
I bought the Truth album around 1974 (I was 5 when it was recorded) and it changed my world. I listen to this now and I'm no less thunderstruck from the symphony of sound that they created. Pagey's gift to Jeff, this IS the British Invasion!
1:38 Keith's trademark scream, picked up by the drum mics. You can hear his screams on many of the earlier Who recordings.
What a lineup. Never to be repeated.
jimmy played the 12 string Jeff Beck played all the electric parts and is awesome! Jeff and Jimmy evengot Keith Moon to play drums! And John Paul Jones plays bass and Nicky Hopkins who I met in Berkeley plays piano! What a band!
Moon kicked over the mic in the middle of the song so all you hear are the cymbals
I believe Page played a Fender 12-string (electric) on this.
@@nyg1954 Interesting !
There is at least one guitar part in this song that sounds very much like a Jimmy Page solo.
This is why they done it..For the love of 🎶
One of the greatest ROCK tracks of all time......Never fails to impress!....
RIP Jeff Beck When my guitar gently weeps thanks for the music.
Hauntingly beautiful and dripping with nostalgia. So iconic.
This has been my favorite song for 52 years🎸🎶
Hard to Believe this was 1966 ??? and how Young these Men were to have such unbelievable Music ability!!!
He did this in '66?!!! WOW! Like Hendrix, but under rated. A giant rests in peace.
Jeff was way ahead of his time. Nothing compares.the most beautiful sound ever. Miss you Jeff.
holy god what an epic song
BEST. DRIVING.TUNE. EVER.
Gets me everytime. Thank you for all the great memories.
Miss you Jeff. RIP. 😞
Amazing how much talent Britain had back in the 60s/70s makes me proud to be British
✌️
Too bad about the last 40 years, but for a while there England was #1.
Well this American is forever grateful that we opened up the musical gates!
you didnt compose or perform that music though.
England has a much longer history than the states,...how could they not produce some great stuff with all of that history and culture.
@@patcola7335 yep we have history and culture but the biggest influence was US music especially black blues players
This is perhaps one of THE greatest instrumental Rock anthems ever produced.
Perhaps...?
@@marcfedak hocus pocus focus. Fuckin amazing ! They used to play that on the radio . Before radio sucked.
@@marcfedak also "rhayader/rhayader goes to town" by Camel
The best!
Return with us now to those thrilling (and psychedelic) daze of yester-year. This one and "Heart Full Of Soul" did it for me back then. Dynamic, divine and righteous from start to finish.
That's right! I hadn't heard this one for at least a couple of decades and it all came flooding back.
nonthere That's the wondrous power that great music has on us all. I hope this music takes you back to a better time. Best -- W
Thank you for posting this incredible song. What an amazing group of musicians.
I'm going to have this played when I depart this life. It makes you feel like you're soaring away.
Hello Angie, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
What a fantastic version of this song! It's gorgeous to begin with, real music to the ears, but this one really expresses the full beauty of "Beck's Bolero". Thanks for posting.
In 1967 the soundscape of poprecords had broadened enormously (and still without Synthesizer). I found Beck's instrumental sensational. Hendrix' All Along The Watchtower, that came a year later, too. Mind you, this came 2-3 years after the death of the Merseybeat and Surfbeat era. 1967 was an amazing revolution year.
This has been seriously my favorite song since 1967!
Mine since 1984 i was 12 years old love old music
Amen
This song makes me feel,
Like I'm in orbit' alone on a space trek" (crazy)
I'm 69 years old, first heard this song in 1968 on a Underground radio station.
I still get that crazy feeling
Everytime I hear it ~ pure (genius) stands alone!
Anyone else would
Butcher it...
R.I.P.
Great artist thanks for sharing your talent and music.
I believe that this is one of the finest rock bands ever assembled .... cant touch this ....
Still gives me goosebumps and the only reason why I haven't given up my high-fidelity stereo system...
Beck, Page, J.P.Jones, Moon & Hopkins!!
Who could ask for more?
Wonderfull!!!
Some of my favorite people, and two of my "gods".
I think this is what is called “The Crossover of the Gods”
This song propels you into the stratospheric atmosphere...
This song reminds me of what London was all about in the mid 1960's. It is a fucking beautiful song!

So epic! So mind blowing! Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck ! Was fortunate enough to see Jeff Beck ! Jimmy Page would be icing on the cake !
Out freaking standing! Still fresh after 50+ years & many listens later. Of course, having a Beck's Beer while listening only makes it bit better. You can't improve upon perfection.
Rest in Power. Thank you for the music
Hello Ellen, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
I can hardly believe this is a 45 year old recording - it could have been released this month. I'm 52 and I find this my favorite song of all. I hope they play it at my funeral. To think this was the prototype of Led Zeppelin amazes me because I wonder what these men would have produced through the years, if "Beck's Bolero" is anything to go by... God bless Nicky Hopkins and may he rest in peace.
So strange that you would request this at your funeral, because I've always said the same thing about this particular track! LOL.. seems like the perfect soundtrack to exit this earthly plane.
ura klown it's pretty cool that beck has a number of tunes to take one to
the other side including "where were you" and "another place".
ura klown It has to be the version with the backwards loop at the end though! See you on the other side!
nyg1954 Or Nadia!
Nicky Hopkins lives forever in my house : ))))).
Just WOW. Always loved this and had to find/hear it again. As good as any classical version.
I saw Jeff play this last night! Gave me chills. Such an awesome song.
"Last Night"? I've seen Beck live at least 30 times in the last century and he NEVER played this! So glad he's come to realize how timeless those years were.
This came out in 67. The year I was born he was ahead of his time. Love you Jeff. Matt
Never fails to give me goosebumps! One of the all-time great rock and roll anthems!

God! This is a beautiful piece of music!! This is fucking timeless!
+james woody and it's 50 years old...!!!
You are SO RIGHT! I'm 68 and I still love this piece of music.

This was the genesis of the band that became Led Zeppelin. What a collection of incredible talents.
And The Who!

This is his best work
I was 12 years old and blasting this in the family living room. God bless my folks, they didn't say a word......
Yeah,
one of my favorities, when I heard Beck's Bolero first time I was in British Music for ever at that time when a was a kid. Later a Zepp fan and never forgot Beck.
You can hear virtually every category of Rock in this splendid piece.
Jon Paul Jones, JEFF BECK, Jimmy Page, Hopkins and K. Moon .....I can only imagine what a super group like this could have accomplished had they joined together and made historic albums. This is just as important as Beethovan in my humble view and it stands the test of time and will continue to do so.
ROCK 🎸 ON MATES!!
Totally unique and a stunning live performer. Was lucky enough to see him play with Jan Hammer many years ago. Completely blew my mind. No one got tones out of a guitar like Mr. Beck. The master of the whammy bar. The world just lost a legend, heaven just added a genius.
Just heard the bad news and damn it, I want to cry. RIP, you bloody beautiful guitar player.
