Considering how runny the paint is I'm fairly sure that apple was dipped in a vat of the paint and allowed to dry hanging by the stem. That's why it's so smooth.
I feel like it’s just a straight up metal apple that they used to make it look like they painted on an apple to get that perfect smooth surface but really it’s impossible to get that smooth surface on an actual Apple
When you get confused about who’s face it really is when you see the reflection 😂 The good thing about arriving early is that your comment will be seen XD
I would never want a mirror room because imagine your in a dream where your in your room. Literally the worst thing I could do in a dream is look in a reflective surface or a Mirror
As a model maker who works with stuff like this, you'll get way better results if you prime with a black base. Same for color shift. Also, brush technique and application technique is really important, rather than just kinda slapping it on like normal paint. The apple photo is almost definitely primed and sprayed on instead of brushed on. You kinda want to stipple and smooth it out more than drag it around. This paint can get some crazy results but people almost never apply it correctly, so a lot of room for user error.
Ariel Tales I can only speak from my experience painting miniature figures for D&D, but I like to use gesso to prime things. There are spray-on primers, but I like gesso because you can brush it on, which makes it easier to touch up little areas you missed, and it dries super thin (but strong) which means fine details are preserved. You can buy gesso in white or black, but you can also mix them to make a gray.
I appreciate these notes because I'm planning on getting this stuff to paint the angel blade I'm currently 3d printing. I want it to look as reflective as the show so now I know to sand, prime, & get a simple airbrush.
i agree, i was hoping she would paint the stuff black before putting the liquid mirror paint on and i was so disappointed that she kept using it like it is regular paint. reflective/metallic paints appear more shiny with a black base.
The paint was really cool! I think it has potential for an art piece that shows a person staring into a mirror and we cannot see their face. The mirror is there and then it reflects the viewers face!
8:40, the fact that is smells like Super Elastic Bubble Plastic is concerning. i think they stopped selling the toy because the bubbles contained chemicals like polyvinyl acetate (found in glue) and ethyl acetate (found in nail polish remover), and if you inhaled it, you got a mouthful of toxic fume
you can search it up, it says its toxic in wikipedia. in wikipedia, it also says super elastic bubble plastic is flammable, so the paint could be made of the same thing.
Polyvinyl acetate isn’t toxic, it’s literally the main ingredient in Elmer’s glue, is used in chewing gum, and variants of it are used as pill coatings.
The smell is xylene, it's old school paint thinner. It went out of voice due to its carcinogenic effects and its ability to get you super fucked up (old school permanent markers: lookin at u)
