Just FYI man. This is my go to video every time I need to regulate my water pressure. Such a good job and you tacky took your time in the step by step process. Thank you again!!!
Awesome, thank you!
We have this same regulator. It’s works amazingly. One thing to note is that it’s important to disconnect it when it dips below freezing. We ruined a regulator leaving it hooked up even with the water dripping.
Good point. I actually had the same thing happen to me.
"reunited"??
@@georgekatsinis5224 ruined. Darn auto correct.
Dang, Jason, you're so smart. I couldn't figure out why I needed a fancy regulator but I think you sold me. And I need to turn my water off when we drive away from the park.
Well...I do set out to inspire...LOL...You will love this regulator for sure
I have this water pressure regulator and have been using for a few months with no issues. I highly recommend it to fellow RVers like myself. My wife ordered it on Amazon and it came with the case, tape and screw driver too.
Thank you,
AdventureinourJourney
I have been getting replies about some folks not getting the case. Although the case does not hamper the function of the regulator, it is a good selling point in my opinion
@@HowToRV ja, and it protects it too when not in use, rather than have it knocking and banging around somewhere exposed. Something could hit the oil filled gauge and break it. Thanks
Thank you. I just received one & this is pretty elementary. I now know how to use it!
Was gone for 3 mths. Came back, turned my water on & it forcefully surged my toilet, which then left a valve open & flooded the bathroom!
Long story short, I bought a valve like this for preventative reasons!
The regulator is a must have. I also like the fact that I can see what the actual pressure is. I have been to campgrounds where there was no pressure and thought it might be my RV and with the gauge, saw that it was not an issue on my end
We bought the same pressure regulator about 4 months ago. It's already saved us from water damage. We first used it at a campground that regulates their pressure at 40 psi. Figured that out when I was unable to adjust the pressure above 40 psi. The next campground was a different story. While doing the normal setup, I installed the pressure regulator on the water facet, connected the hose to our trailer, turned on the water and went back to setting up while my wife ran the air out of the lines. After setup I did a visual inspection and found a slight drip underneath where the low point drains come out from underneath the bathroom sink. Went to turn the water off and saw that the water pressure was at 60 psi. Not good. Adjusted it down to 40 psi and the drip stopped. Pulled the panel under the sink and saw that I caught it before any damage. The fittings just could not handle 60 psi.
Bammmm. That’s what I am talking about. A reassuring story to testify that visual pressure regulators will save your RV. Thanks for sharing. If your interested, take a picture of you and the regulator and email me at IYOconnect@gmail.com and I will attach this comment to it as well as your channel. Thanks for the details.

Greatly appreciated the video. I purchased the US Solid Water Regulator Valve. But no nice case, instructions or screw driver. Fortunately i have the latter. So now I know how to use. Thank you!

I've been looking to get a pressure regulator but hadn't come across one with a case. When I clicked on the link you provided not only does it have a case but it appears the current version has an adjustment knob which eliminates the need for the screw driver. That is a great plus! Thanks for the Great video, I've subscribed to your channel.
I am glad that I was able to help
Really enjoyed your video, I'm switching to one of these you described, we currently faced a over pressure in our rig and well to say I'm not happy with myself, I forgot to hook up the cheap one.
I had a similar issue where the cheap on that i had broke and i had no alternative. In my case, i filled up the fresh water tank and used it until i could get this one. now all is good.
💥 Excellent video, very thoroughly done. Thanks for explaining this situation. I've got a similar looking regulator by Valterra from Amazon and thanks to you can actually operate it properly just now. Those tips are definitely well said too! My Valterra didn't come with that nice case though, which is very thoughtful of your brand. Good tools should come with a good case. I do my screw pressure adjustment before I attach the hose to the RV. I put a shut valve at the end of the hose end that attaches to the RV, so I don't have to walk back and forth in and out of the RV. My thought is maybe it's not a bad idea to shut the campground main water supply to the RV off even when turning in for the night. 🤔 But if not, at least people are there and wake up occasionally and often need to use the bathroom anyway😂 Just wish more tool cases came in brighter highly visible colors. So many tools of my tools are all dark colors and difficult to spot. Happy and safe RVing. 👍
I agree on the case color. I would love to see them different colors too.
@@HowToRV Yep, color options always are appreciated. I guess you don't like my idea of capping the hose end and making regulator screw adjustments before attaching hose to the RV, right? I think it's interesting that the gpm flow is the same regardless of the pressure we set the regulator at. Hope I got that right. Thanks
@@Hundert1 I think that is a great idea as well. I set mine at home and it usually holds the whole time I’m out. I set mine around 35 to 40 that way I do not get close to max on my camper and I can watch for any kind of fluctuations. Your idea is perfect and I am thinking about doing a shut off valve like that.
Useful and informative, delivered in a clear and easy to follow manner.

Your very welcome.
I tried all of that and when I adjust my regulator the needle doesn't move. Is this supposed to be done with the water on or off? Faucets running or no? I've tried every way possible. Got it today brand new. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Turn the water on and faucet running too. Dial the pressure to around 5 or 10. Then turn the faucets and anything else running water off. Go back and turn up the pressure very slowly until you get your desired pressure. Also, the close you get to your desired pressure the slower you should adjust so that you do not go over your mark. If you do, then you can repeat this process.
@@HowToRV I've tried that but the needle doesn't move. The screw thing just clicks

Excellent instruction video. Just subscribed.
Thank you for joining in with the H2RV community.
Why does the gauge have a blue line for the range of pressure up to 60 psi?
The blue line starts at 45 and goes to 60. I keep mine at the 45 psi. Some folks say that their RV can handle 60 psi but I do not line to push that far. 45 psi does everything that i need and I feel better knowing that I am not pushing it to the max. Hope this helps
You're a bit off on the water flow / speed bit. What you were getting at is flow. You want to adjust psi but keep maximum flow. Flow is the volume of water, psi is more closely related to the "speed" or pressure that volume is at.
Thank you for the review/comment. I went back through the video and noticed where I relate flow to what the campground/park is capable of producing. This was to show the this regulator restricts very little flow. As to PSI or pounds per square inch or speed, I am missing where I referenced incorrectly. Can you point to where in the video is wrong?
@@HowToRV you weren't necessarily wrong, just the terms could be more beneficial to people. That is all. You mentioned that the regulator doesn't restrict "speed" like the non adjuaables do, flow would be a more accurate term. As in gallons per minute / gpm versus psi.
I watched a second time and I think I know the point where your talking about. Flow or also known as flow rate is the speed at which water will travel. PSI or pounds per square inch is the strength behind the flow rate. I think that you are talking about velocity. Water velocity is a measure of the speed of water flowing through a closed pipe system. Water velocity can be determined using a simple formula:
V = Q/A
Where,
V = velocity
Q = Flow rate
A = cross-sectional area of pipe
@@Dougy_Fresh ok. I see where your coming from. People can more relate to gallons per minute or how much water is consumed over time rather than confusing them with flows, velocities and pressures. I have worked in the mechanical and electrical industrial engineering arena for so long I tend to forget. Thanks.
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
We do shut the water off if we're going to be gone for any length of time, but I didn't think about switching off the water heater! Thanks for the tip! New subbie here.

So nice of you
Great explanation..thanks.
Anytime. You are welcome
Awesome thank you so much. Very helpful to know.
Glad that I could help.
We stopped using these after the 3rd one failed. 1st one was left in the rv during winter storage so my fault but 2nd and 3rd one were dried and brought inside and both of those didnt work come spring. We started using a Camco fixed regulator and so far it works fine and regulates the pressure to between 40-45psi and best of all they are about 13 bucks versus 50, 60 + for one of the adjustable regulators.
That is interesting. I wonder if it was manufacturer specific defect. I have had this one (after a winter oops like you) for 3 years now and no issues. Maybe i am one of the lucky ones.
@@HowToRV Was just thinking that it's probably still good to use, after it was regulated to 50psi it should stay at 50psi I would think.
Great information!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks, we wondered if we were supposed to turn the square black outer device that the set screw sits in or just the screw. And I think the park only provides 38 PSI.
You are very welcome. I am glad that it was helpful
Agreed don’t need an upfront lecture on subscriptions
I underatand. Its funny that most do not think about it though. Believe or not, it does help the channel grow. I'll start putting it in the end going forward. Thanks for the feedback.
Great in fo , but what can you do if you want more pressure? at the shower thanks
Funny you ask. I have that video coming out this coming Sunday at 4 pm est. Here is the link for when it posts. ua-cam.com/video/TSiiwo_U7UQ/v-deo.html
Hi, I use your water regulator, however, there are 2 pressure ratings...flow pressure and static pressure. Which should I be regulating. If with faucets are open - I set the pressure to 60 PSI..when the faucet/values are closed (static) the pressure rises to 80 PSI. Am I over pressured?
If your gauge is like mine then you would see a red mark that you should not go above. When using the pressure gauge, you should not have anything running and set to to around 40 psi. This will ensure that your plumbing will not get damaged. It is normal to see pressure drops as you turn water on in your RV. Hope this helps.
@@HowToRV Great instructional video! Thank you... Also, this ⬆reply from you answered my question about rising pressure being indicated when your water is "on" in the RV. All of this makes sense to me now. The "Gallons-per-minute" info also answered the other question I had. I have been using the small fixed pressure regulator, and not getting adequate flow from our inside faucets. I'll be using this adjustable regulator going forward.... will give it a try in about a month! Thanks a ton.
Hey Jason. So how about the faucet to the water filter to the pressure regulator?
I put the regulator before everything. It will protect the hose, filter and your RV. Hope this helps.
@@HowToRV ty sir
You just point out our problem. The problem now is we have too much pressure built up. I'm handicap and can't get out of the RV so my wife is taking care of everything. This one was just beyond your pay grade. How do you relieve the pressure?
I relieve the pressure by opening a faucet and rechecking the guage.
Thanks ❤
i am glad that it was helpful
I haven't been using a water filter, is that bad? I have separate water I'm cooking with.
Thanks for the video
I suggest all to use a water filter. It keeps the lines clean as well as valve components that are in your faucets, shower and other items.
We stayed at a camp ground where its water pressure was 115 psi. They did warn us before hand.
That is horrible. Thats exactly why everyone needs to have a pressure regulator.
I enjoyed your video
Yay! Thank you!
Ordered from your link. The kit I received did not include the little screw driver. Bummer. Not a real big deal, but would have been nice. Thought you should know
A simple but useful tool omitted. I am glad that you reached out to let me know. Hope you enjoy the regulator.
You do good, bro!
Why thank you very much
I already have the pressure valve...is there some place I can just buy the case? Thank you
Not that I know of
New to RVing ... the water pressure regulator hooks to the water supply faucet not the on the RV?
That is correct. The regulator will protect your RV and the hose.
I would guess that, if I have adjusted it outside the factory settings, I have to reset it to less than 50. Is it not the pressure of the water while on that we must read? Or, is it the same with the water off? I'm seeing less pressure in my shower, but it's closer to the city connection. I'll try to reset tomorrow with my wife inside controlling the water. But, my main question is, running or not inside while adjusting? Thx
Should adjust then turn water on and off again. You will want to see the actual pressure with water not running in your RV. Turning water faucet on and back off will reset and show true value. Hope this helps.
So I’ve seen some comments on pressure regulators that say that if the water is not running in the camper the pressure will equalize through out the system. Is there a regulator that stops the pressure while the water is not flowing?
Not that I am aware of. There are what is call back flow preventers but that releases pressure if the water supply is turned off. I recommend to keep your system at the manufacturers recommended pressure (usually no more than 40 psi) and if you have to leave or not around to keep an eye on things, to turn off the water heater and water supply. Hope this helps.
Is it 40 psi on the gauge while the water is running because when I turn off the water it goes up to 65 psi and that concerns me
It should be at 35 or so with water not running. Hope this helps. It’s ok to see pressure drop with water on and running.
That’s a nice upgrade for the RV, thanks for the information on it and I’m not sure I would have thought about shutting all of that stuff off so thanks for that! Your videos teach me a lot so thank you for sharing.

Thank you for checking the channel out.
I know RV’s are poorly assembled but so was my last house. My last house plumbing was pex plumbing with crimp fittings and Shark bite fittings with high pressure city water and never had a leak. My rv has crimp fittings that look properly installed so why the need for pressure reducer?
For most, water pressure in residential homes are between 40 and 60 psi. I have been to a lot RV parks where the water pressure is above 100 psi. This is why it is important to have a regulator. As you said, PEX can handle residential pressures and to keep your RV around the same pressure, you would need a regulator for those RV sites that are to high. Some RV campgrounds have higher pressure because of how many are using there water at the same time. Even if the campground pressure is low when you get there, the usage at that time from other may be high. When useage slows down, pressure can go up. To make sure that you keep your RV safe and healthy, istall a water pressure regulator and you will never have to worry if there couldbe any damages or leaks. I hope this explaination helps. Happy camping and God Bless.
Do you need to reset your water pressure gauge once you return back to the campsite, if you have turned the water off because you have left the campsite for the day to go exploring. Or once its done, it is done. ??
I set mine and never have to reset. For a good peace of mind, I do check it often. That’s why I like having the gauge on it.
What is the lowest setting or minimum setting, can it go as low as 15psi ?.
Yes. You can stop it all the way down to no pressure if needed.
@@HowToRV thank you
Thank you very helpful
You're welcome!
My water pressure fluctuates between 30-40 with this new regulator? After changing out the check value that was an issue too? Adjust regulator every time? Or other ideas as to why this fluctuation? Ty
Is it fluctuating with no water running? If so, it could be the park. If you have something that is running periodically, that can be a cause. If all else fails, send it back and get another. I must say though, I have never seen one fail because of fluctuating. Also, if you are talking about when you move from campsite to campsite, that’s not unusual.
Thank u
No problem
I have had 2 Renators and both have gouges that went to 120 psi and are stuck there. I have tried burping to no avail. Do you have a suggestion?
I wonder if you can change out just the guage. Another option is to build a system with en external guage. Luckily i have not ran into that problem. I Need to go and find some wood to knock on now....LOL
Can you increase the psi going into the rv?
You can increase and decrease the pressure. Increasing the pressure only works if the site that you are at has enough pressure to go higher.
Be careful to not increase the pressure too much. If to high, the pressure could cause leaks in your RV.
I have a filter and water softener connected and the inside pressure is weak. As soon as I remove both the water pressure is good. Ant suggestions. I have tried them individually with the same results.
@@larryorth4807 if you haven’t changed the filter and softener media in a while, it could do that.
Water leaking problem... I have a Sunseeker Class C and I have a water leaking problem that happens sometimes. If I am connected on city water line, it seems that my dry-camping water tank will fill itself also, which to my knowledge shouldn't happens... any suggestions to overcome this problem ?

I noticed that my psi is higher when faucet is off and dropped when faucet is on. Do I adjust the desire psi while one faucet is on? Or do I adjust desire psi when faucet is off?
Set psi when there is no water running. This is to make sure that you will not build up more pressure than your piping can handle.
Flow restrictor vs flow regulator.
There is a difference for sure
I am using one now. It says the water pressure is at 40 psi but it's got a lot of pressure from the toilet valve. Not sure if that's good or not.
sometimes the holes that the water comes out of in the toilet are small and makes it appear that the pressure is higher. Also make sure that the pressure is at 40 when you have no water running in the RV.
Where can I purchase just the case for my renator?
Mine came with the case. The link is in the description. I know that you may not want to buy another one so you may have to make/custom build your own.
So what is the typical pressure for a rv?
I try to shoot for around 45 psi. This gives me all I need. Most RVs these days can go higher but 45 is a good safe zone to stay in and be highly functional in my opinion.
@@HowToRV thanks I appreciate it. I just ordered pressure regulator with gauge. I have been having issues with my toilet when I use foot pedal to engage water it was leaking over the top where water comes out.
@@Timeflys987 I have been having issues with mine as well when I half press the pedal for filling the bowl. I am looking into it but may just swap the whole thing out for a ceramic toilet.
@@HowToRV I’m definitely going to try to lower the pressure before I do that. I know at on camp site it worked fine so we will see lol
I noticed that my regulator at 50 psi and when the sink or shower is turned on it drops to 35 to 40 psi. Which is the real pressure?
The real or actual pressure your looking for is when everything in the RV is off and no water flow. This is because you do not want to exceed the RVs capability of holding pressure. Hope this makes sense.
Static pressure. Nothing running.
@@mikehilliker6317 that would be correct
Great regulator but way too much fluff when it is an instruction video for how to adjust the valve. Any about 1 minute of instruction out of 8 minutes.
Completely understood but you would be amazed on how may people out there dont even know what a regulator is
Unfortunately a water pressure regulator has absolutely no benefit when you're in a park that supplies about 30psi and you install your water filter and can now barely flush the toilet! 😢
Your absolutely right. What I typically do in those cases is fill my fresh water tank and use it. Then refill as needed. Hope this helps
My regulator makes a lot of noise when I turn on the water in my trailer. My neighbors have asked me to remove it and not use it because the noise is very loud and annoying. Does anyone have any suggestions?
There should be no reason for a regulator to make noise. But i guess it’s possible. Considering the low cost on Amazon, I would try getting another one.
I have a 1100 gallon rain barrel and a pump. When the pump is off the water is off the water keeps going through. Will a water regulator stop the water until I turn the pump on?
It will not. All it does is regulator pressure. Look into a check valve for that. Check here for that --> amzn.to/3FEV8sW
How much does it cost an where can I buy one
The link is in the video description and it is a little less than $30. Here is the link if you cant find the video description. amzn.to/3qjZltQ
this video is very confusing i think there is an easier way to explain this and im pretty sure u told people to go inside and turn water on when u already said that very confusing !!!!
Understood. The cutting the eater back on will drain off any excess pressure and when you turnip back off inside the camper, you will see the actual right pressure on the gauge. Sorry for any confusion
