Your videos have helped me with more than 1 issue. I currently live full time in mine so I do need all the help I can get. THANK YOU !!
I built my own. I bought a whole house regulator like you have where your house hooks up to the water main. Then I installed a brass male hose adaptor to the inlet and a side outlet tee to the outlet side. I put a pressure gauge in the side of the tee and a female hose adaptor on the end. Viola!! It is super dependable and has very good water flow.
Really appreciate and enjoy watching your videos. I just picked up this one you recommended off of your link to Amazon. We will be trying it out soon. Thanks again.
Bringing home our new and first trailer today, your videos have been a lot of help in getting ready to use it. Many thanks for your time and input!
That’s awesome!
Thanks, after years of using the standard 45 psi flow restricting one I purchased the adjustable brass one a year or so ago. I like it but the gauge did fail! It registered 80psi not hooked up!! So I replaced the gauge and it is working OK again
Great advice. I like to flush water thru my external filter each time before i connect it to the RV. I have had brown water come out after a few weeks of non use between camping trips. Thanks
You have, by far, the best and informative RV videos !!! Thank you for your efforts!
Wow, thank you!
Cool, I found a brand new heavy duty pressure regulator in all my junk. I was going to leave it at home because I always boondock but might as well carry it with me just in case. Thanks.
Just rewatched this video. I wasn't connecting at faucet l was connecting on other side of hose before going into external filter. I will change how I do for this year's camping trips.
Thats the only one people should buy! We bought ours before we took delivery of our RV so we had it and paid just under 40 bucks and free shipping!! Side note DO NOT leave the gauge where it can freeze...the gauge will blow out.
I would love it if you could/would do a video about generators. How big, how many, how to hook them up, what to buy, etc. These are great!! Please keep em' comin'!!
+John Quinlan funny you should mention that as I just put it on the list of videos I want to do.
Very helpful, thank you for your very informative videos!!
Great information. You have gone through all the variables for us. Thanks.
+Idaho Rider thanks!
I bought one. Used it 4-5 times and it developed a leak. Called the company and described where the leak was as well as the serial #. They sent me a new unit FOC as they were aware that some of these units might have some issues. New one works great for over a year now. Also, don’t expose to a hard freeze. The gauge may damage.
Thanks for the tip. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I learned the hard way and I bust at some of my Plumbing without a regulator I was a little bit too excited but you live and you learn
How did you fix it sir?
@@teresabernal4604 I replace all the old plastic Plumbing with wire braided rubber hoses
Great advice thank you!
Thanks so much for the wonderful information!
I want to tell you I went through all the same regulators as you and found the same thing. The first cheapy regulated the pressure but was very restrictive then got the one with the gauge a little more expensive I thought maybe the first one was defective but flow was still poor so I checked out all the ones on Amazon and got the one you showed last and it works great and I can adjust it. Its more money yet but worth it, now my shower has great flow
Nice! I’m glad it has worked out for you
Hey Guys! I've watched several of your videos already and subbed! Looks as though y'all just started your channel, noticing the few videos you have posted...looking forward to many more! I especially like your presentations, and, straight forwardness. And, btw, your video cameras are very nice, clear as a bell, and, volume is always very good! Keep the videos coming! Waving from Houston, Texas!
+JIM BRIDGES thank you for your kind words! I see you are from Houston, glad you are safe!
Great advice like normal! Great Chanel
Great will do thanks
I found one of those regulators on the faucet at a campsite, maybe it was yours! It wasn't in great shape though, so maybe it wasn't. :) I don't follow the same logic about where to place the regulator. I place it after the hose and after the water filter. The water filter reduces flow, and when water is flowing, it reduces pressure. I'd rather lose that from the full pressure side. There is a small risk of blowing the hose or filter, but those are easily replaced and most campgrounds don't have nearly enough pressure to put either the hose or the filter at risk. If you know the campground has really high pressure you can always start with the regulator, but the rest of the time placing it after the filter gives you more constant pressure and flow in the rig. I do agree about the type of regulator, there are quite a few clones out there of these metal body adjustable regulators with gauges, so get a good one! By the way, regulators do get worn and need to be rebuilt or replaced periodically. They typically will start leaking and the high pressure will come through when there is no flow. When you turn on a faucet you will get a tiny volume of high pressure and then the pressure will drop to the proper level. For the home regulators there is a rebuild kit, but replacing it may be easier than finding the exact kit for the regulator. For the RV just get a new one.
Alan Biocca,
Lucky you, finding one ✌🏻😎👍🏻. I appreciate your additional tips and advice.
Great video man, simple and clear! Got a rookie question here, would it be okay if you fill your fresh water tank with relatively high water pressure without pressure regulator, such as 80psi? It won't damage anything?
Used one like you recommended before I saw your video. The problem I had with it was the valves gauge began to leak. The leak got worse and I had to replace the entire regulator. Went to a preset with 45 to 55 psi. Just and FYI. Enjoy your videos.
I bought one like the one you are using, and did not use it for a while and while trying to adjust the pressure it sounds like the spring or whatever is in there is broken or something and the gauge reads 0. Gonna try to see if I can remove the adjustment part to see what's up.
Great video. But I have more issues with inadequate pressure than I do too high of pressure.
Great video. We are new to rving and we are using the pressure regulator. Pressure is 45 but the pressure in the RV is trickle. This is a new motor home. We’ve had it for a week. What are we doing wrong?
Thank you!
Sorry if you have gone over this... we are going to be in an RV park next week with overnight Temps in the 20's. Do you recommend disconnecting from the freshwater? If so, would you fill your freshwater tank to use overnight and in the morning or is there concern with freeze on that as well? The trailer does have heated tanks, but I've never used that feature and I'm not sure if they should be on all night? Sorry for all the questions, you are someone I have always felt was really knowledgeable on this stuff.
Thanks!
Good video. Do you still use this today or do you have a recommendation for today? Thanks
Thanks god bless
Thank you for the best and honest review of rv water regulator. Could you share with us how long you have had the Valterra regulator. Amazon reviews for a 1 star rating, problems are cracking and leaking. Thank you again.
We have had it at least two years without any issues.
Does it matter which side you put the regulator on? Like can I put directly on the rv or should I hook it up to the water source?
And...don't forget to remove it from the faucet when you leave the campsite! We lost one a few years ago by leaving it behind. When I bought a new one the first thing I did was write our phone number on it with a perm black marker. (Maybe I'll get it back, maybe not) Very good product!
+rodney mathews great idea!
We have a “Before We Leave” checklist for lessons learned like your experience.
I place flagging tape when I hook up......bright orange ..tethered to regulator and then hose or t adapter. Now disconnect with remembering.
When I tried using the Renator the gauge would either drop to almost 0 or shoot way above the recommended 45 psi. Is mine bad? Or what am I missing? Edit: no matter how little I turned the adjustment screw, on of those 2 things would happen. I could never get a stable pressure between 40-50 psi.
What happens if you don't use one of those white or blue rv hose? Mines green lol where can I find one of those rv hose?
What is a safe pressure to set the regulator for RV
Shouldn't we add the blue filter first to the supply and then the regulator
Wondering if you're Renator regulator is still working good. I've had one for 2 years, and just noticed the oil in the gauge has leaked to where it only fills the gauge about 1/2 way. So now the needle is not in the oil, and presumably not working accurately. Have you or anyone else had similar experience? Thinking I need to buy a new regulator!
Do you adjust the pressure on the regulator to what your RV can handle or do you set it to what the park says it’s water pressure is? Sorry I’m confused!🫤
Is there any real difference between the regulator you use and the Valterra? Valterra cost more! Thanks
How do I follow this particular guy on "how to rv" he is by far the best!

What's the link to your psi checker
Great zVideo ! Where did you get that regulator you use on your camper?
Hey thanks so much for your awesome videos. Can I use a spliter after hooking up this regulator?
Yes you can
Anybody know? On the passenger's side, it says potable. And on the deivers side, it also says potable only. Can i connect it to a hose?
how much PSI should be good for an RV???
Thanks for getting back to me. Now should I set it at the pressure right at hook up or have a faucet running and set to 55 psi.?
Thank you,
Heber
Set the pressure without the water running. That will give you the max psi your rig will be getting.
How much psi should be
This gauge must be brought inside during winter months, Freezing temps will damage it.
Thank for the vid . Now I do
Have this unit. We are going this weekend for our first time as full hook up . When setting the pressure on a 2018 Cougar what should the pressure be ? Also do you set the pressure with no faucets on or everything at standstill?
Thanks
We will try to stay around 55 psi, won’t go over 60 psi but most rv parks have much lower water pressure
where is the link?
I have seen on more than one occasion someone leaving their site and rinsing out their sewer hose right at the spigot and even touching it with the hose fricking nasty so I always have a spray bottle mixed 50-50 with water and bleach so I can always spray the spigot down before I hook up
Good tip, I usually try to clean it off before connecting.
Does the screen end go toward the faucet or hose end ? Thanks for the video !
Thank you for replying so quickly. I am new at all this and subscribed. I noticed after applying the regulator to the faucet end, that I had extra water running out of my city water connection ( port ?). Not a whole lot but not steady drops either.
I hooked it on backwards -_-' damn....
I purchased the Renator from Amazon and the gauge failed within 6 months. So much for the one year warranty; no one will answer the phone nor return messages... 🤨
I've heard some say they also let some water run before they hook their hose up to that faucet. Do you recommend that too? I have yet to take my first outing with my recently acquired rig.
Sometimes we do that but not always.
OK so how is the flow. First comment you mention how much flow you lost. But you didn't address the issue. Thanks
We have a Cedar Creek Cottage permanently parked at a rv resort that has 110 psi and I have a regulator similar to the first one that you talked aboiut. The pressure inside the camper is poor and taking a shower is awful. Do you think that if I install the last one that you showed with adjustment that it will improve my pressure and flow?
glb6 yes
Does the final unit have more flow than the first pressure regulator?
I have the same question. What's the point of having one you can see the pressure on rather than one that just works? I would consider this valuable information if the flow improved on the one with a gauge but at this point that is unclear.
A word of caution do not leave the regulators out when storing the RV in freezing temperature. If a little water is still in the regulator gauge it will break the gauge This from experience. The gauge can be replace easy for less than $10.00.
Good point!
When I fill my fresh water tank and turn my pump on water starts pouring out of the fresh water fill neck. Does anyone know a fix to this?
pete martinez sounds like a bad one way check valve.
Do u answer questions sent to u
U have 2 amazon Regulator links listed is there one u prefer over the other??
The one labeled our pressure regulator.
What is the RV psi safe zone! Also I will place a tee adapter post . Short hose for cleaning etc. Bought the one you have....Amazon..yeah!
We don’t usually go over 55 psi but sometimes we have done 60 and been ok. Most rv parks that we have been to are around 40 psi which is very safe.
All About RV's thank you!
I watched your video, but could not determine which regulator you chose. What was it?
There is a link is in the description, it is the adjustable one with the pressure gauge from Renator. goo.gl/TyXuCy
can't find the link to the regulator on amazon

Weird ,the person who I bought my travel trailer from said I could use a regular garden hose from our house to attach to the trailer !
A typical garden hose is not recommended to use when used for potable or drinking water but if you are going to use it to fill your tanks at home turn on the water to the hose and let all the water that could have been sitting in there to be flushed out and then fill your tanks. It’s best to have an RV safe hose that you can find on our list for hoses that are better for you to use for drinking water.

You say "we have found our favorite one" then include two links to two different regulators. Are they both your favorite "one"? Thanks.
They are both excellent and are close to identical. The price fluctuates on them so one might be cheaper than the other. I was very impressed with the costumer service on the one labeled “our pressure regulator” if you that helps you.
That does help, indeed. Thanks.
It's disappointing that no one ever mentions whether you test the water pressure with the water running or the water off. You're not the only one, it's everyone. And, for the novice, they turn to these videos and hopes that somebody will lead them in the right direction.
Always test with the water not running.

110 pounds per square inch pressure. Where the hell were you camping??
