One detail this episode brings that's small, yet makes it so much more terrifying for me, is the inclusion of alternates not only being known by the general population, but they talk about them as if it's just a normal thing
@@thaimapping I think the Christian show suggested they've been around since B.C, but I guess to be fair they've only been public knowledge since the 80's? Idk, at the very least they've been officially address by the government by then. But that does make me wonder why they've waited this long to start attacking- like I get the Gabriel "angel"/tv intruder (I got a feeling they're one in the same, cause the government doesn't acknowledge that one as an Alternate) because analog TV has only just gotten popular enough to exist in basically every home in America. But I guess it might be true that they only existed since the 80's if the "angel" is making them somehow, which could possibly be the case if Mathew is right about the whole "they have to seek it out" thing meaning that people are being turned into alternates. Tldr, I kinda invalidated my original statement with the theory of Alternates being people that the "angel" changed
Fun Theory: The woman who called them herself is already an alternate who's still learning to work with the human language. Notice how she misheard what Adam asked "we can do tonight" as "we can do TWO nights," before responding "Can you do three nights?"
This while thing was freakin' ominous. Since the beginning, so many of the themes from Season 1 kept showing back up. The voice from "Overthrone" saying "Wake up Adam" like it did with Joseph. Jonah clearly showing that just being near the house gave him an "overwhelming sense of dread" like the police officer in "Intruder Alert." The strange, unfitting text in the closed captions that read "Patients report multiple sleepless nights after their symptoms became apparent. It is not difficult to avoid, however. The patient must try to actively seek it out." The oddly placed children's animated Bible scene with Eve giving Adam the apple as the disguised Lucifer watches, decieving them and smiling after Adam says, upon eating it, that "suddenly I feel kinda scared" which also shows up in the closed captions. All the way up to the end, where it seems like Jonah, after leaving Adam behind and thus "betraying" (arguably) him, begins to suffer from the effects of M.A.D (or possibly just really strong guilt) as he pulls off to the side of the road. Side Question: Does anyone know if there's a way to translate whatever is going on at with the face, or is that just a garbled mess?
@@invertedghostgames9899 I agree!! especially about the M.A.D. idea:D about the house: did the first house have the "cat" door as well? it might be the same house from ep1 but the layout looks different: I believe that the idea that she is an alternate might be correct-and the "overwhelming sense of dread" might be a shared fact between houses "haunted" by alternates-but I'm not too sure about the "same house" thing🤔 (plus no I have no clue how to solve the gibberish >.> sorryyy)

When the “OH MY GOD BEHIND YOU” line comes up in Jonah’s voice, there is no speaker for that line. Whether that means it’s not Jonah speaking or there’s something in the radio, I feel it’s important
also Jonah doesn't seem to understand why Adam gets upset at him, as well as it being said in the exact same tone repeatedly- it's also played right after its said that [redacted] causes distortion, so it might be whatever that thing is
It is 2 in the morning and I was looking at the comments before watching the video….the fact that my name is Jonah and what I’m assuming is a character in the show named Jonah made me realize I will wait until the morning
I agree with that, as you can see at the end. I would like to say probably the TV guy can travel through different spectrums as in radio frequency TV frequency and so that leads at the end when Jonah offed himself being on the overwhelmed and regretting his mistake of leaving Adam behind. And also like you said in other videos they use psychological warfare on their victims.
@@death_shield_offical I agree as well, the alternates have been stated to be in other spectrums so radio waves should count,it would make sense if an alternate were to travel through radio waves to Jonah by using adams radio.
Also interesting to note, Jonah is a biblical character known for refusing to witness to the sinful people God sent him to; therefore leading to him being swallowed by the whale.
@@bluelfsuma It's because later in the story, God rescues Jonah from the whale, which renews his faith and so he goes and preaches to the people to repent from their sins, like he was supposed to do in the first place. Even that part doesn't go so well, because afterwards he goes to watch the city from a distance, waiting for God to punish them for their sins. Then, when nothing happens, because they actually did repent and God forgave them, he throws a hissy fit about it. Then God points out that he literally just forgave Jonah in the same way, and that He is completely in control since, y'know, He's God, and Jonah finally gets the point. But also, it can mean "dove" in Hebrew, so that might be why some people like it.
I think it was an alternate trying to get him to turn around, since like the tape said it said "dont open your eyes when it feels like the man in the corner is directly in your face"
I'm willing to believe this theory that he's trying to learn Adam's fear. This must be why it tries it multiple times when it initially doesn't trigger much of a response from Adam, so it tries and tries again to invoke anything, which only makes Adam angry getting him to yell

@@mustachemiss1983 That's why I picked FNAF! NO ONE could fake a minor aneurysm while being so happy and focused at the same time, the way Matpat would. No, tell him that FNaF World update 3 or Endless Mode to FFPS finally came out. That would not only be right up his alley, but also much more unexpected.
Ok hear me out. So in the first one like matpat pointed out they say "If someone having an encounter with an alternate calls for help, don't pick up, nothing is worth the risk. You might reveal your fear" When Jonah picks up he reveals to the alternate that his fear is Adam dying. Adam doesn't seem to die but the alternate seems to trick Jonah into thinking he did at the end in the car.
this is exactly why jonah gets hunted at the end, adam showed nothing but hatred and fearlessness towards the alternates, while jonah did the dumbest thing to do in their presence which is tell them exactly what youre afraid of, its also why it flashes "who are you running from?" the alternate is actually curious if jonah is running from adam or running from the alternates considering it heard their entire arguement.
@@tes33720 He doesn't say it explicitly but you can see throughout the video that he wants adam to be safe and get out of the house throughout the video. I think in the car the alternate or whatever it is definitely played into this fear of his.
When Jonah says the more he looks at the house, the more he doesn’t want to be there, it reminds me of when the police were too afraid to investigate that one house where the mom offed herself because her baby went missing.

The amount of biblical references in the series is just too obvious to ignore. The animated children's Bible cartoon isn't just there for no reason. They're there to tell the story. Even the names of the characters refer back to the Bible. Adam, the first man, and Jonah, the man who ignored his assignment and was punished, are used to expand the lore.
It could easily be both of those things though. A code tricking you into thinking it's something that it's not is very reminesent of the alternates so I could see it being both.

Wait till you have things looking like people in your room like for example a hanged up jacked or clothing over a tall chair or just two coincidental reflections looking like eyes staring back at you
Bombshell: Adam is the "missing child" the "intruder" abducts, causing the mother to end her life from being "distressed at the sight of her missing child." Which is why he is asked if he remembers, and it shows the hanging mother in the T.V. Screen. Addendum: If Adam IS the supposed abducted child, then that means the alternates are not harming the kids, but using them as a means to psychologically harm the parents. But this raises the question of: "Where do they take the kids?" Also, remember that Alternates feed on FEAR and that Jonah is horribly distressed during the last few moments, while Adam is just generally pissed off.
Regarding your addendum and your question of "where do they take the kids", this isn't confirmed of course I'm not completely sure about this, but at least from what I gathered watching Intruder Alert, I thought the intruder somehow made the mother hallucinate her child being gone, in order for her to believe the baby was kidnapped so she would commit suicide, because as far as we know, this is how alternates lead you to death, like how Mark was driven to suicide due to being tormented by the alternate in his home. I also believe this is the case due to the neighbor's report to the police: "Prolonged child-like crying followed by a loud crack". They never said the crying stopped. Only that it was followed by a crack, i.e the snap of her neck.
I think that the intruder is protecting the children from the alternates, Yes he is a psychopath. Because why would the Alternates "psychologically harm the parents" and only the parents? it seems petty. The Intruder is some how different from the other Alternates, But hey thats just a theory, a Film theory!
Interesting how at the end in the acting credits, "woman" is in inverted commas implying that its not actually a woman, but something pretending to be one.
Once that Garden of Eden Bible cartoon plays, Mat calls out that one of our characters is named Adam. However, does he think about the Biblical significance of a character named Jonah? In a series with such blatant Christian themes, it's worth pointing out the parallels. In the Bible, Adam is lured to do something that ultimately ends up hurting him by a woman. A woman, who was first lured by an otherworldly entity. Our character Adam is clearly lured by the entity telling him to open his eyes, but also by the woman who owns the cat. Could this be a trap of some kind? Jonah is a little less obvious, but you see the connections quickly enough. In the Bible, Jonah is instructed by God to help a land of sinners. Jonah is afraid and flees. God then punishes him for this cowardice by allowing him to be swallowed by a whale. Our character Jonah abandons his friend and flees, and he then has an otherworldly voice shaming him for being a coward Obviously, these are two people in the Bible who lived centuries apart, and I'm not sure what this would mean for the story, but it's worth pointing out. It doesn't seem like an accident that Jonah also has a biblical name.
I haven’t seen anyone point this out yet and you’re absolutely right!! It was bound to happen that some of the parallels between the Bible story and Mandela are overlapping for a reason. Maybe we’ll get other biblical references. I knew Bible study was gonna be useful someday 😼🤝
@@gregoryvelasco2988 Fascinating. Have you actual read the book of Jonah and made an informed decision, or did you just arbitrarily decide to be an edgelord in the UA-cam comments section?
the gps was considered “useful” because counties affected by alternates (Mandela, Bythorne and the other two) outlawed anything that uses radio or things that can produce frightening imagery. It’s why the radio isn’t on.
Yeah I was kinda annoyed when he was laughing during those scenes because if you pay attention to what's being said it's more than two "grifters" in the early ages of GPS technology. Sure that's clear by the end of the video but if you pay attention to what they're saying it's being implied that they find it "useful" because the technology is outlawed, at the very least in Mandela but quite likely the entire world at this point and it's dark tech that most people don't have. (one does have to ask how many traffic accidents there would be in a world where rearview mirrors can't exist though)
@@Goldenkitten1 Also even if that wasn't the case I know fairly old adults who have only recently used GPS and act like that. Like they simply never cared to use it before because they had grown up with maps, decided to try it out, and then realise how useful it is. @@gavinsfriend1431 Very true, everyone thought it was amazing once GPS got good enough to be reliable. Either way I was just kinda annoyed that he spent half the video making fun of the acting and stuff, completely talking over lore on a channel supposedly devoted to picking up on those bits to make a theory. I mean there's a reason they have an opening and closing devoted to just joking around so it doesn't interfere with the theorizing itself. I wouldn't care as much if he hadn't missed A LOT of what they were saying while joking.

53:40 He threw his Phone to avoid the Alternate that influenced Adam. You can tell by the Audio that he's severely distraught and stressed when he lost Adam, to the point where he's crying and sobbing. You hear a Grunt, like he threw something from the car or from himself. A few seconds earlier, you hear him being Influenced by the Alternate in his Phone, so in an attempt to avoid contact with that Alternate he threw his Phone somewhere so he didn't have to hear it talk.
Really? I thought the alternate was communicating through the GPS device. I mean, they were outlawed for the very reason that alternates could possibly use them as a medium for abducting/killing people, right? Plus, you can see in the top corner (only slightly due to Mat's face-cam) that our imagery for that scene is coming from the GPS device, and then there's that "ERROR 333" followed by "YOU LEFT HIM BEHIND" and then at the bottom of the device is what the alternate is repeatedly whispering to Jonah: "What are you running from?" Given all of that, I don't think Jonah threw his phone away, but I definitely think he ditched the car because of it's GPS being hacked by the alternate. Considering the devices have all been outlawed and destroyed, and that these boys have no money, then the GPS likely came installed in whatever car they ended up stealing. If it's installed in the car in some form, then they likely wouldn't be able to remove it without tools. If the alternate had hacked Jonah's phone, he could've rolled the window down and toss it out while driving at high speed on that desolate road, ensuring the phone is destroyed from the force and momentum it would end up striking the ground with. But instead he willingly ditches the car. Not to mention that, if everything with a screen has been outlawed, then modern-day iPhone's and the like would not exist, or at the very least, Adam and Jonah would not have them. Plus, the two boys are on the run from the law, so having smart phones - easily trackable devices - would be stupid. They would likely be using burner phones, which are cheap (again, they're clearly broke), easy to get ahold of and easy to replace, very difficult to track, and they don't have the "smart" screens necessary for the alternates to use them as mediums.
@@Nothing.... We know that they do now based on vol 4, but during the house visit they did definitely use walkie talkies. It may in fact be that same Walkie Talkie, my theory is that when Adam goes into the basement or does whatever, the alternate at some point gets a hold of Adam's walkie and is trying to corrupt Jonah through it rather than the gps system as suggested by someone else in this comment thread and throws it to escape it.
I believe the code *"Error 333"* was also a scam code. It was one of those codes that would pop up on people's computers, they'd click on it, and they would get hacked and scammed. So the fact that when they were having camera trouble, and it flashed *"Error 333"* makes me think that was the alternate trying to trick them in order to take advantage of them.
To add on to this theory I say that "its" trying to get Jonah to go back by making him regret leaving, by (using error 333 the angel number) making him think he "sinned" for doing so. Or this is all useless and "its" trying to make Jonah insane to trick him into doing something later.
It sounds like the “you don’t remember me” might mean Adam has seen the invader person on the tv before as a baby, suggested by the music. This could be the reason why he isn’t affected by the alternates. It’s said that he chases down alternates, and is unaffected by the encounters, and why we see him survive the alternate in the house to go down to the basement. Maybe children captured by the invader are unaffected by alternates. Just a thought.

The repeating “oh my god behind you!” was so effective! It starts funny and suddenly becomes increasingly creepy as you realize it’s repeating itself. So good!
It should be noted, the “Mandela Catalogue: Vol 1” found footage took place in 1992. This one takes place in 2009. That’s 17 years. If this house IS the same house as the one in the first video, having a cat door isn’t actually that weird since a change like that could have happened in that time. Keeping in mind the time difference between when Victim 1 & 2 were killed vs when Victim 3 & 4 were helps a lot when putting everything together.
it's also worth keeping in mind that they're both filmed in the present day, so it's not a big stretch to assume that a cat door could've been installed sometime between videos. that, or it was always there and just wasnt shown in the first set of videos.
"look behind you!" Was only said once by Jonah, and the alternate repeated it to Adam for some reason (they reflect speech). Which is why Jonah said "what did I do" confusingly when Adam told him to stop for the 4th time as if it wasn't a joke
Yep, he the alternate def Repeated what he said. I think whemever Jonah tried to speak, The alternate stepped in somehow and just repeated what he said
I’m almost positive Adam’s mother was the “distraught at the sight of her missing child” woman, and that’s why he has a vendetta to get to the bottom of things. It would also make sense with the imagery of her flickering on the tv when Adam was watching
I does make me wonder where they're brought though. When Intruder Alert came out, it did mention that Bythorne County was affected by the missing children, so it's possible he was born and raised in Bythorne County until his untimely demise as part of the Bythorne Paranormal Society
I feel like they kind of treat Alternates like we have and still treat living with Covid. At first everyone was really scared and worried, it took over our lives for a while, but now we just live with it and the way they were like “What a cat alternate now?” Is the same as “Oh a new strain of Covid.”
I think the creator said he based Mandela Catalogue on his experience with Covid. It's probably supposed to be like that. Even with a small portion of people who think it's all a hoax, somehow.
I think it's more like the start of Covid. For the countries that started with the Covid pandemic they treated it seriously with strict lockdown initiatives but for the most of us we were like "What is this Covid disease happening overseas. It probably isn't that big of a deal". Just like how they ordered people in Mandela to smash their screens and mirrors, but for others around them it seemed hard to believe.
THEORY: the red, yellow, and green dot indicators on the GPS bar coincide with how close to Variants/how screwed the characters are at the time. For example, most of the beginning drive the indicator is green- meaning they're safe. When they're parked outside the house and it's chill- it's yellow, meaning something is nearby... And when that scream happens over Comms, or at the very end when the car is pulled over with hazard lights on- we have a red indicator, and fully present activity from the Variant. I think it's safe to assume that dude's dead. Lol rip.

@@L16htW4rr10r that could be possible but From what I’ve seen at the beginning of the video, both Jonah and Adam are labeled as “Victims” even though it’s not clear they’re actually dead, and it just might be the authorities believing neither of them survived. As for how they obtained the footage, it’s possible that Jonah went missing and ran off in an attempt to get away from the car (the alternate’s voice) and he abandoned the vehicle completely leaving the gps footage behind. But yeah I agree, Jonah was an interesting character who seemed like a genuinely good guy who wanted to live. Hopefully, he comes back in the future!
12:39 This dialogue bit seems to be a massive clue. “His soul roams the house still” “I wanna make sure he finds peace in whatever realm he resides in” The dialogue is choppy, and the way she describes things aren’t usual for a human.. she seems to have underlying intentions that makes her give out clues in the way she talks.
ARE YOU SAYING THAT THE WOMAN TALKING WAS AN ALTERNATE LURING THEM INTO THAT HOUSE, LIKE A TRAP? That would , make sense though, also, in the credits, it has "woman" in quotations, also implying she is an alternate.
1 notice how the lady called and she said she was on a business trip but the house was completely empty with no furniture almost giving an idea that she may be an alternate trying to lure jonah and adams in. The more i think about it she said she heard a cat noise but she never actually investigated it knowing she would be safe by saying “it might not be an alternate, it could be my cat soul” or something like that . 2 i think towards the end he offed himself because he couldn’t take that kind of pressure on him. Plus you can hear him crying at the beginning of that little clip.
notice the caller also misheard when the guy said we can do tonight and she thought it was two nights and replied can you do three nights to try to get them to stay longer
Notice how the number 3 is very iconic in this series. In past episodes it’s the third image that gets scary, the third scene that gets distorted, the 333 biblical inference, the woman asking for 3 nights, and if I remember correctly, Adam and Jonah conversing with three photos.
That's interesting, especially since these alternates are clearly demons or demonic in nature, and yet everything being related to 3, maybe a mockery of the holy trinity?
I have a theory: Adam IS the kid that got stolen, implying that the 'her' they were talking about was his mother, who hung herself. And the 'you don't remember me' on the TV being intruder saying "you don't remember me stealing you" so yeah that's my theory.
I think the 'her' he is referring to is Adams younger sister, the girl in the picture, which is why Adam is so adamant about investigating further and why he wasn't afraid and unaffected by the m.a.d.
@@CodeeXD The photo of the kid and his sister in front of the church was mark heathcliff and his sister, it was in exhibition to show that he practiced religion, making him susceptible to M.A.D.
Simple theory I thought of while reading the comments: Adam and Jonah are both biblical characters. Adam, in the bible, was lured to do something that lead him to be hurt by a woman, which was lured by an evil entity. In the video, Adam and Jonah get a call from a woman, whose voice sounds strikingly similar to Ceaser's mom (they both have the same voice actors as well), who apparently died to an alternate, which could mean she is an alternate. To support the theory that she is an alternate, when she asked when they are available, Adam said "We can do tonight", which leads to the woman saying "Can you do three nights?". This could mean she misheard "tonight" as "two nights", since the alternates are still learning human speech. As for Jonah, in the bible, was a character who refused to help God by not helping the sinners, as Jonah is too afraid to do so. This act leads God to make Jonah get swallowed by a whale. Jonah, in the video, was too scared to go in the house, and ultimately left Adam to die. After he is leaving the house, the "alternate" shows up on the car radio, mentally torturing Jonah. At the end, Jonah leaves the car and grunts. The "AGH" could either mean him hurting himself, throwing up or doing something that requires force, such as climbing, jumping or lifting something. This theory was made by amalgamating some of the comments and adding a few sprinkles of my own ideas!
You might be into something here. GPS signal was green when no alternates were around and red when in direct contact with them. One alternate was with Jonah when attacked or when torturing him.
I think this is further supported by how if the ‘intruder’ is the devil trying to imitate God, or more specifically Jesus, it would make sense that he would try to imitate, or call back to (how he says you do not remember me) some relationship with Adam. Which may have something to do with how Adam seems to be immune to the intruder’s attempts at making him an alternate?
Mark is also a Biblical figure, and Caesar is mentioned in the Bible as a historical figure as well as in Dante's Inferno. We know Caesar was historically betrayed by his trusted friend, which lead to his death. Could this parallel to Mark sending Caesar to his home to turn on the security cameras and ultimately leading to him become one of the first victims? The Biblical Mark is one of the 12 "chosen" disciples, he is not only a major player in the events of the New Testament, but he was also the author of one of the 4 Gospels. This could point to the reason that Mark seems to appear several times throughout the series, even after he is revealed as the second victim: he is still a major player.
I'm genuinely surprised Mat didn't realize that was Marks house. I mean it isn't the 1980s anymore, when he died, so it's not surprising someone else would move in and add a cat door for their cat
@@DeletedUser-tn5ky yeah! It was his! All the rooms, outside, hallways, are the same! And honestly it's not surprising to me that there are alternates in a house that was once home for a few alternates with Mark in it
Fun Fact - 333 for angel numbers means “encouragement in making the correct choices in life” so when Adam says in the basement “I made the right choice” and when Jonah leaves him, all reflects back to the choices they both made which they thought were right.
53:17 This sound to be sounds like an effort sound. Like either Jonah is throwing up, being punched/stabbed, jumping off something, being pushed off something, or something similar. Jonah was either caught, or felt so guilty for leaving Adam behind that he tried to harm/off himself. Or is just so freaked out he's puking- which is a definite possibility. I don't think it's a name or any actual words, it just reminds me of a sound of pain or effort. Just "AUGH!"
I believe he was killed by the alternate. The gps gets red whenever there is danger nearby. The alternate clearly has control of the gps because he is talking to Jonah. He leads him to a deserted place and kills him which results in the noise and prolonged silence. This gives me the same vibe as the moon analog horror. (It has something to do with a news network but I forgot the name.)
What's so creepy is that the "Nothing is worth the risk" message was regarding a phone call, and it's a phone call by the "woman" which sends Jonah and his friend down the Mandela rabbit hole.
His theory about there being two factions: the fake savior and the intruder was kind of interesting to me. He said it as if they opposed each other. When listening to the whispers, the alternate says that Adam is following the Shepard instead of "god". It's possible that the intruder abducted Adam as a baby and Adam gained less fear from alternates and more tolerance of m.a.d. The intruder is like the Shepard kidnapping people and giving those people somewhat of a tolerance or knowledge, directly opposing the other faction: "god" or the fake savior. That's just something I thought of when he said "warring factions"
I have a theory that Adam is still safe while Jonah got taken over, in previous parts they mention that fear is what the alternates need in order to take over people and throughout this episode Adam showed more anger and almost vengeance than fear while Jonah was fearful most of the time and then ran away, the GPS then being able to overwhelm his mind with guilt and fear. I do wonder if the woman that led Adam to seek out alternates was Eve and theory may be wrong since they're also labeled as victims but I guess victim doesn't necessarily mean death
@@zbyboggy3873 But the gps has a screen, which seems to be the only requirement for them to take over. I mean, the gps screen itself bugged out too right?
@@alltomorrowsfan both Adam and Johna are biblical figures and the entire series has had nods to biblical events, not considering the theory they are meant to be representations is pretty silly
Here's my theory. As we saw in a previous video, all TVs and screens of sorts had to be destroyed to stop the entrance of the Intruder. And at the beginning we see that Adam and Jonah are outlaws $100,000 reward on their heads, most likely from possessing GPS technology and/or knowing knowledge about the Alternates and Intruder that is a threat to national security. This more or less applies to GPS as well. In one of the scenes where it mentions "The exposure of the causes deterioration", this likely means that the GPS is being exposed the Intruder, which deteriorates the GPS and camera to the point where the microphone malfunctions. During the car trip, one of the two was surprised to see the GPS working. This takes place in 2009, and GPS had already been developed by this point, so it seems that GPS systems were also outlawed and serve as a possible emtry way for the Intruder. This leads to my next point about the ending. When Jonah seemingly drives away from the home, leaving Adam behind, the GPS starts malfunctioning and begins to mutter the words "YOU LEFT HIM TO DIE", most likely coming from the Intruder invading the GPS system. Also, the hooded figure in the house is most likely not an alternate, and instead an Intruder. In Vol. 1, we see in Mark's drawings in his story that a hooded man was in his house at night, that being the Intruder. This is most likely the same Intruder from the same house. Also the house actually is familiar, since it is the same house where Mark's friend pulls up in Vol.1, meaning this was formally Mark's house, still possessed or haunted by the presence of the Intruder. EDIT: After doing some more looking I've now come to the conclusion that in Vol 2 and even 1 that there are both an Intruder and Alternates being spawned in at the same time. In another video, you see that the Intruder on the TV screen seemingly makes the kids and babies dissappear. There is a reason for this, as when the Intruder appears on a radio or TV, that Alternates could also be 'spawned' in. Clearly the Intruder is not the one making the kidnappings. However his presence brings in Alternates, which do the actual abduction into a different reality or 'spectrum'. In Vol 2 we saw a tall hooded figure, which resembled that if the Intruder from Vol 1. This however is not the case because I think that the hooded figure from both are actually Alternates, spawned in by the presence of the actual Intruder, since we see him near the very end. So it is now clear that both that the Intruder directly controls the actions of Alternates, which mainly only did large scale kidnappings in between the 1980s and early 90s, since their presence their presence in the modern world is very sparse and not really considered much of a threat until Adam and Jonah seemingly aggravated them, by their constant pursuit of the truth, with an Alternate and the Intruder directly encountering Adam, and seemingly murdering him, while the Intruder seems to mentally torment Jonah for driving away and abandoning his friend. That seems to be what im getting out of all of this.
Thinking of that hoodie - I figured this figure WAS Adam's Alternate, considering he wears a similar hoodie. Also, I figured they might be outlaws because they both lost people to Alternates, and they got pinned for the disappearances/murders of said family members, because... well, sadly, it seems a very law-enforcement thing to do.. pinning the crime on some wrong-place-wrong-time kid/teen.
I believe that the woman who called about the cat is actually Torres' mother's alternate from the first story because the mom screamed and passed out, a clear indication that she was taken by an alternate and/or the intruder, since Mark was followed and killed.
I'm just putting it out there that "fear" seems to be a big part of it. that keeps coming up before someone is killed/taken by the alternates the victim is afraid, wherever they go they bring this unexplainable fear with them, the tapes saying 'don't let them know your fear', the fact that that's all Adam said after eating the apple is "suddenly I feel afraid" and so many other instances where fear seems important. and it'd make sense that modern Adam (the victim) has gone so long without getting affected really because he seems to not be afraid of these things, given when they start saying freaky stuff to him. and Jonah was affected even after he left, and he was scared. Also interesting they both have biblical names, just a thought.
This sort of thing always reminds me of my experience with GAD, or like specifically the “nightmare anxiety” sort of thing, where giving in to that little voice in your head telling you to “LOOK BEHIND YOU” will always just make your anxiety worse and lead you further towards a panic attack. When you give legitimacy to the voices, they gain power over you. Jonah did that at the end, with giving in to the guilt and the voice and all, and he could very well be dead because he left his car.
Do you know what’s interesting, Adam and Jonah are labeled as “Victim 3” and “Victim 4.” Obviously it’s supposed to tie in with Mark and Cesar, but that makes it feel like someone in universe is leaving these tapes for someone to find. Maybe someone who could put an end to the alternates.
I’d love if they went in a direction that whoever is leaving these tapes is probably an alternate themselves already, and trying to expose anyone else who watches them to the events that take place to extend their reach to another medium, as opposed to just television screens, but also old recorded tapes
i think whoever is leaving the tapes is the baby who was kidnapped from the mom who is seeking revenge and makes it so people would discover the tapes and connect all of them and find a way to put an end to the alternates
Theory: So Adam could belong to the 3% that are not effected by MAD right? probably when he was young he was infected by MAD at the same time that someone(mother, sister?) in his family was kidnapped by the intruder. So that could mean that those that recover from MAD have an resistance to the effects of both Alters and the Intruder. That could explain why Adam was so confident dealing with Alters before because of that resistance. Which in the end amounted to nothing in front of the Intruder.
also noted that the Intruder is trying to communicate with Adam about does he understand what its trying to show which is a picture of woman hanging (hmm totally not the first time seeing it) and also child lullaby start playing (maybe something connected to a kidnapped child in the few previous episode hmmmm) and Jonah mentioning that Adam is trying to find 'a woman' which by all the evidences it's most likely being his mother.
The image with two windows when adam sees the intruder on the screen is the image of the church with the two kids infront. Also the first image with the cat on it is the same one from the baby's reaction testing segment. Hope this helped!
The whole talk about following “the shepherd” after the scene with Adam and Eve kinda primed me to think it’s a biblical analogy; whoever’s talking being the serpent who’s tempting Adam away from the shepherd, a common metaphor for God, with presumably false promises.
towards the end of the video, when he sees the intruder on the tv and the intruder says "you dont remember me" that leads me to believe that maybe adam was either a sibling of the kidnapped child during that whole thing, or he WAS that child, because it plays lullaby music and shows a picture of the mother who hung herself after seeing her baby gone, and when Jonah says that they took a lot from them and that one of the alternates or the intruder killed presumably his mother, i sort of made the connection that, once again, Adam was either a sibling of the baby, or the baby who was taken, and his mother killed herself because of it, leading back to what Jonah had said
That picture at 51:11 is a painting called "The hands resist him", generally a creepy painting with dolls and freaky spirits, and considered by many to be haunted. Not sure how it fits into the story but that's what it looks like to me
many fans have pointed out that "the hands resist him" bears a striking resemblance to the picture of mark and his sister in Exhibition. alex kister has acknowledged this unsettling resemblance (the picture of mark and his sister is actually a picture of young alex and his sister) and is now presumably incorporating the picture into the plot.
I am fairly certain that the image is actually one from a previous episode of 2 kids standing in front of a church not entirely sure though don't really want to re watch at the moment of this typing because it's like midnight
@@sino8066 In no way is there any implication that Mark was vengeful. Even if there was, he remained fearful of whatever was behind his door, hence the fact he didn’t exit his room for a prolonged period of time.
whoever voiced adam and jonah did a fantastic job. they both sound incredible. and jonah's whole breakdown when they start hearing the cat is absolutely phenomenal.
49:50 DON’T TELL ME HE’S THE CHILD WHO WAS TAKEN AWAY ON EARLIER EPISODES, SO THE MOTHER KILLED HERSELF AND THAT’S WHY JONAH SAID THTA ABOUT “SHE’S NOT COMING BACK” HOLY COW
When the intruder says 'You don't remember me', I also assumed that Adam is the child that was stolen in the other video. The screen of the intruder looking in from the top of the TV made me think of what Adam would see when the intruder looked over the side of his crib (which gives me chills to think about). So perhaps Adam was looking for his mom, the mother who hung herself in the other video. That's why they are paranormal investigators in the first place, because they're looking for a ghost/explanation, and Adam knows alternates are involved. I do wonder why/if he specifically is so important, since this entity has gone to lengths to lure him back to a TV and ask him if he understands. It's weird that he is found by an alternate first but then seems unscathed and goes into the basement.. What was the alternate doing then? Is he somehow protected?
From what I've from other people Adam only feels rage towards the alternates instead of fear The alternates may have trapped him, but they can't get to him because he is only pissed at them It's like too angry to die
It's possible Adam has gone M.A.D. before but was one of the ones that recovered, this would give him a sort of immunity towards alternates, like getting a disease immunity by becoming sick
I'd say, it's not Adam being too mad to be affected. I think he learned how to deal with a alternate During the video, Adam shows extreme bravery towards the alternate roaming the house, Jonah also exclaims that Adam feels invincible towards these creatures. The alternates thrive on fear to manipulate and harm their targets, Adam showed none of it. And is trying to communicate with them (maybe talk to his dead mother?), he feels invincible as he knows how to handle them and never expected them to get to him. Also, remember the bugged "BEHIDE YOU" in Jonah's voice, and Adam's irregular response, where he didn't even turn around to check? He knew what the alternates where up to, and kept his composure as to not reveal any fear. He was essentially immune to these monsters, and only met his match when encountering the intruder again, who knew his story (also, doesn't seem like alternates communicate about things like this) And I think that explains everything about this scenario. He was of high value to the intruder, as he was the only alternate able to affect him and his immunity to the others spelled danger
Adam lost his girlfriend (who I presume is named Eve) to the alternates. Considering the creator included a cartoon of the Biblical Adam and Eve and the series' overall use of Biblical allusions, we can make a good guess on how he lost her. Adam's girlfriend became too curious and somehow was taken by the alternates. They likely tricked her into following them. Just as the snake tricked Eve into eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden. Now Adam, curious as Eve once was, is following in her footsteps. He hopes to figure out what the alternates are and where they took his girlfriend. Adam ate the forbidden fruit a long time ago, but as just the Biblical Adam before him, he now possesses forbidden knowledge that leads to his downfall.
Most people think it's Adam's mother that he lost. Adam is the baby from the crib that was kidnapped and her mom killed herself as a result. This is why Adam is so neglecting towards the alternates, because he is trying to get revenge. As a result, the alternates seem to have a tough time affecting him.
@@heresiarch. I hadn't considered that! That would explain why he's so adamant about revenge. The whole Adam and Eve thing was just my first assumption based on the creator's heavy use of Biblical themes in this ARG/unfiction piece.
Another thing about "Error 333": "The bogus “Windows Error #333#” alert is shown in such a way as to trick the user into thinking their computer has crashed or that a virus has been detected on the computer. It does this to try and scare the infected user into calling one of the listed numbers in order to receive support." It's a bogus error, used to trick people into being scared I don't know if this us intentional or important, I just thought it may be some goooood theory content.
Actually, really good observation! I suppose instead of being a fake scam error, here it's a manually induced error by the alternates to send messages and damage/destroy useful information and footage
Interesting thought, but I think the number has religious meaning here. 333 in the bible is, from what I quickly googled, represents a pact where god promised Abraham that he would be the father of great people and if his descendants obeyed god, he would guide and protect them. with the line "you followed the shepherd. you are a fool. follow my voice instead" tells me that the 333 used here has something to do with this pact. It also represents the holy trinity (mind, body, spirit. or Father, Son, Holy Spirit) but I am not sure that it's as important
@@SilverGuard this is true, although the use of it in a digital error may also allude to a double meaning there, or, i'm looking too far into things (like someone i watch)
You may be correct, but the earliest mention I found of this was 2015 when the ms scams started growing bigger, keeping in mind this is from 2009 it would exist then, but I may not be looking very well, what do you think?
For anyone curious, the image at 51:05 that matpat couldn't figure out is the picture of the two children in front of the church from the first volume of Mandela catalogue :)
I’ve said it before but when that thing is saying you left him to die to Jonah I think that’s what it meant in the first Mandela catalogue by alternates use physiological warfare to take advantage of their victims.
The hidden subtitles about "symptoms" is 100% related to MADS or MAD Syndrome btw Also I feel like Mat is reading too deep at 48:10 when in reality they just meant that they started off doing their gig to people who thought they were being haunted by alternates, when in reality it was just paranoia. And since nothing happened to Adam and Jonah despite them flirting with death so much, they grew conceited, thinking they were invincible
@@superbryan0059 yeah, I really like volume 2 in it's explicitness. It was a perfectly simple, rounded story for people who were just scratching the surface, while also maintaining the overarching storyline.

I just realized the part where it says "Adam wake up!" And the following part with the sped up reverse(?) text, is what we've been warned from in the MAD video.. the last step to avoid contracting it is to "not open your eyes when the man in the corner you know is there is inches from your face watching".. I think thats what happened to Adam in this part...
@@thenacho6354 No, no he didn't. Unless you mean by resisted you mean him not killing himself directly. My guess here is that after that he obsessed with it more than usual. We can infer as much from Jonah argueing with him shortly after. At the end in the car its Jonah, regretting that he left Adam if he went down into that basement like he threatened.
"Even though he's three, he's nostalgic for something that was, like, six months ago." I mean, that's a sixth of his lifetime ago so far. It feels like a loooong time.
Ah, where better to watch an analysis of one of the creepiest pieces of media around than a rundown, suspiciously stained building with nothing but the sound of snow whipping past a dark window for company. Perfection, couldn't get a better environment to feel completely and totally _safe and secure._
I had this theory for the first few eps of the Mendela Catalogue and this vid has only strengthened it. The Mendela Effect talks about what we remember isn't what actually happened in the past (like when Nelson Mendela died or the different spelling of Bearstein or Berenstain Bears. and yeah, the second one is correct). One of the Mendela-related theories, is that we are gaining memories form an alternate timeline, or somehow we were originally From an alternative timeline, and have somehow slipped over here. So here was my original theory: if they are running with the concept of the Mandela effect full force, and wanted to put a massive plot twist on it - We (the people/victims in these vids) have unknowingly replaced these alternates from their original world when we were young. Just like when Mike saw this dark person and somehow 'nothing happened'. oh no. He was stolen and replaced with another Mike without even knowing it. That's why the police warning was to NOT go into the baby's room until the baby stops crying. Because the Invader needs enough time to swap the babies. Otherwise, mom walks into a room with an empty crib. Now, those people who were pulled from their original world are back, and wherever they were has warped them, becomming our 'Alternates'. That's why the truth is so debilitating and causes such high suicide rate: We. Are. The Original Invaders. The Alternates are just taking their revenge. And deep down, we know it. Now with Mandela Catalogue 2 - we see Adam experiencing the same thing. There is enough to hint he had encountered the Invader as a child. It's not too much of a stretch to imagine he got swapped from one dimension to another. Now, he is facing his Own Alternate, who wants back to this world.
Poor MatPat, he didn't realize that Mirror Matt was an imposter the whole time. Then again, maybe he's pretending not to notice. Nothing is worth the risk
I'm glad Matt pointed out how the Alternates seem to have become a common, everyday thing for the people in Mandela County because Volume 2 really does have a different vibe than the previous videos. Maybe not much time has passed between Adam and Jonah's side of the story and to that of Mark and Cesar, but when Mark went to Cesar's house to fix the cameras there was an air of panic around the whole Alternate thing. This is going to be a weird parallel but it's like how most of us panicked when Covid-19 first started to spread around the world vs. 2 years later where we mostly got used to living with it. Humans adapt to change fast and this angel/intruder entity knows how to use this against them so well, even with the ban of televisions. Some people's disbelief/doubts/ conspiracy theories would also help it in this situation. It's interesting that the entity seems to be drawn to people with names that have biblical/historical importance. At least this is the case with the Victims we have seen so far. I wonder if we'll get an Eve, a Mary, a Noah or a Joseph in the future installments. Maybe even a Jesús? Nice detail in the voice credits with the cat's owner being labeled as "Woman" in quotation marks. No doubt there wasn't a woman or a cat there to begin with. Also I feel bad for Jonah. Sure he left his friend there but what else could he possibly do? "Nothing is worth the risk", after all. He tried to convince Adam to get out, but Adam CHOSE to stay in the house to get to the bottom of whatever that was happening, he bit into the apple willingly. The entity is trying to guilt-trip Jonah to go back and try to save Adam when it wasn't his fault at all.
One thing that bothers me is that sometimes Department of Temporal Phenomena has the number 4 depicted as IIII or IV. Could there be actually 2 Departments? Fake and real?
I was thinking that maybe there are two timelines and the intruder is the bridge between them, when he kidnapped the children he transported them to the parallel universe, hence the IIII and the IV timelines, and that would finally fit the temporal phenomena department (I don't remember the name) in the picture
I saw a theory comment that says the alternates are trying to learn human knowledge or act like them, like the woman mistakes the "tonight" to "two night". My guess is that the department is run by alternates
@@Azuriiee to confirm that theory I guess we could check the dates in which each number is shown to see if the IIII comes before the IV else if they are intertwined they wouldn't fit the theory
At this point, I just adore Adam and Jonah's characters. They're really funny and kinda relatable when it comes to this kinda stuff. But this is Mandela Catalogue after all. Bad stuff happens to good characters.
i believe that the caller is in fact an alternate for one reason, the call, little emotion, and grammar is off, probably picked up tonight as two-night's thus the three nights offer, and the 'i appreciate it more than you think', when you would usually say 'more than you know', just my take as that being the big red flag of 100% confirmation of it being an alternate
Oh yeah, not a doubt in my mind that it was an alternate. Mostly I believe it because of the fact it seems like she lured them to her house, but until I'd heard Jonah and Adam talking a lot I wasn't completely sure if the grammar was just because of a bilingual creator or something.
This! One more thing that could point to this is the fact that “Eve” is the one who gave the “Apple” to Adam and baited him into taking the Apple (obviously in reference to the Bible). Adam is then “Banished” as a result (unknown what happened to Adam in Mandela) But yeah I never picked up on the odd attempt at this woman trying to speak normal and coming off strange, even Jonah picks up on it and says she sounded like she was on drugs because of it.
Notice that in the subtitles the OH MY GOD BEHIND YOU doesn’t say it’s from Jonah but when Jonah actually starts talking it does. That was an alternate.
Really quickly: all numbers are “angel numbers”, they just have different significances. 333 is just as meaningful as 827 in regards to being an angel number.
DUDE the mandela catalog makes me so anxious, but matpat always manages to make it less scary, i don't like watching scary things much, but i can when matpat plays/reacts to them ;-;
The face at 51:37 looks like that of a hanging body. I think it's Adam's mom, and *because* the TV is trying to recall past events in his life I think it makes sense.
I also believe that it could be a alternate of Adam's mom due to her creepy eyes. Also the fact that she is staring upside down supports this since in the first volume it's shown that some alternates can be upside down.
Something very strange about this video is the repeating audio, when he says “I’m not scared” he says it twice almost exactly the same, the cat only ever meows once and it’s just repeated etc etc
The 333 is definitely awesomely placed, as the angel number basically says "Now it the time to make the right choice" and it was showing when they were arguing about leaving. I just wanted to point that out since I didn't see any comments on it. I love how it's using the electronics to kind of warn them, but not obviously enough to actually have them understand it.
When Adam goes into the house and uses the spirit box, the first number that can be seen is 750, another number that has to do with decision making, discerning others, life lessons and such. So my boy got warned more than once
i do that whenever people ask me for life advice and i cant avoid telling them things (but i dont want the consequences) so i just add this sentence at the end
Theory: the invader is betraying the alternates and is taking children to train them so that they will not be affected by the mind wrenching urge to commit suicide when encountering an alternate.
One detail this episode brings that's small, yet makes it so much more terrifying for me, is the inclusion of alternates not only being known by the general population, but they talk about them as if it's just a normal thing
Good observation
Bro Alternates have been around since the 1980s and it’s 2009 currently
@@thaimapping
I think the Christian show suggested they've been around since B.C, but I guess to be fair they've only been public knowledge since the 80's?

The woman’s voice actor was the same as ceasars mum so I think that it was her luring them there it’s also the same house as ceasars
She ALSO says "I appreciate this more than you can think" instead of "more than you could know," so I think you're on the right track!
I do feel that this could hold some ground
@@invertedghostgames9899 I agree!! especially about the M.A.D. idea:D
about the house: did the first house have the "cat" door as well? it might be the same house from ep1 but the layout looks different: I believe that the idea that she is an alternate might be correct-and the "overwhelming sense of dread" might be a shared fact between houses "haunted" by alternates-but I'm not too sure about the "same house" thing🤔

Sorry a month later but, when did he reveal his fear is adam dying? Tried going through it again fast. You mean the convo with adam at the end?
@@tes33720 He doesn't say it explicitly but you can see throughout the video that he wants adam to be safe and get out of the house throughout the video. I think in the car the alternate or whatever it is definitely played into this fear of his.

Bombshell:
Adam is the "missing child" the "intruder" abducts, causing the mother to end her life from being "distressed at the sight of her missing child." Which is why he is asked if he remembers, and it shows the hanging mother in the T.V. Screen.
Addendum: If Adam IS the supposed abducted child, then that means the alternates are not harming the kids, but using them as a means to psychologically harm the parents. But this raises the question of: "Where do they take the kids?"
Also, remember that Alternates feed on FEAR and that Jonah is horribly distressed during the last few moments, while Adam is just generally pissed off.
A+ theory my dude, props

Our character Jonah abandons his friend and flees, and he then has an otherworldly voice shaming him for being a coward
Obviously, these are two people in the Bible who lived centuries apart, and I'm not sure what this would mean for the story, but it's worth pointing out. It doesn't seem like an accident that Jonah also has a biblical name.
This!!
I haven’t seen anyone point this out yet and you’re absolutely right!! It was bound to happen that some of the parallels between the Bible story and Mandela are overlapping for a reason. Maybe we’ll get other biblical references. I knew Bible study was gonna be useful someday 😼🤝
Saying that God punished Jonah for his cowardice is a bit strong. We Christians prefer the phrase, "shown the error of his ways."

Optimistic hypothesis.
Walkie talkie
I dont think they use phone
So the fact that when they were having camera trouble, and it flashed *"Error 333"* makes me think that was the alternate trying to trick them in order to take advantage of them.
especially considering 333 is an angel number and angels here seem to be replaced/impersonated by alternates
I searched error 333 too, it was interesting
woah thats a cool theory
To add on to this theory I say that "its" trying to get Jonah to go back by making him regret leaving, by (using error 333 the angel number) making him think he "sinned" for doing so.
Or this is all useless and "its" trying to make Jonah insane to trick him into doing something later.
The word "error" paired with "333" makes it sound like a mockery of the Holy Trinity, which supports MatPat's Satan theory.

It should be noted, the “Mandela Catalogue: Vol 1” found footage took place in 1992. This one takes place in 2009. That’s 17 years.

Simple theory I thought of while reading the comments:
Adam and Jonah are both biblical characters.
Adam, in the bible, was lured to do something that lead him to be hurt by a woman, which was lured by an evil entity. In the video,
Adam and Jonah get a call from a woman, whose voice sounds strikingly similar to Ceaser's mom (they both have the same voice actors as well), who apparently died to an alternate, which could mean she is an alternate.
@@playknightboy when they get to the house the gps signal turns yellow
I think this is further supported by how if the ‘intruder’ is the devil trying to imitate God, or more specifically Jesus, it would make sense that he would try to imitate, or call back to (how he says you do not remember me) some relationship with Adam. Which may have something to do with how Adam seems to be immune to the intruder’s attempts at making him an alternate?
I was thinking this as well!
*Mandela's impact is so important* that he even created a catalogue, truly amazing.

That's just something I thought of when he said "warring factions"

so you're saying the intruder (shepherds) is trying to fight the other entity (alternate gabriel/god)?

I have a theory that Adam is still safe while Jonah got taken over, in previous parts they mention that fear is what the alternates need in order to take over people and throughout this episode Adam showed more anger and almost vengeance than fear while Jonah was fearful most of the time and then ran away, the GPS then being able to overwhelm his mind with guilt and fear. I do wonder if the woman that led Adam to seek out alternates was Eve and theory may be wrong since they're also labeled as victims but I guess victim doesn't necessarily mean death

35:46 This talk about the biblical snake anatomy was the best part of this story.

Yeah I think that’s pretty clear. They can’t hurt you if you’re not afraid of them it seems.

Theory:
So Adam could belong to the 3% that are not effected by MAD right? probably when he was young he was infected by MAD at the same time that someone(mother, sister?) in his family was kidnapped by the intruder.
@@BeeCygNus I can see this as hard evidence
ngl but the intruder kinda looks like adam (victim 1)
The image with two windows when adam sees the intruder on the screen is the image of the church with the two kids infront. Also the first image with the cat on it is the same one from the baby's reaction testing segment. Hope this helped!
The two kids are mark heathcliff and sarah heathcliff which is his sister. mark heathcliff is victim one from vol 1.

I'd say, it's not Adam being too mad to be affected. I think he learned how to deal with a alternate
During the video, Adam shows extreme bravery towards the alternate roaming the house, Jonah also exclaims that Adam feels invincible towards these creatures.
He was essentially immune to these monsters, and only met his match when encountering the intruder again, who knew his story (also, doesn't seem like alternates communicate about things like this)
And I think that explains everything about this scenario.

It's a bogus error, used to trick people into being scared
I don't know if this us intentional or important, I just thought it may be some goooood theory content.

That was a super artistic and descriptive description! Do you like writing?
@@fynngreen00 Indeed, I enjoy it quite a bit.

Mirror Matt is literally so funny I really appreciate the energy he brings to the episodes
The entity is trying to guilt-trip Jonah to go back and try to save Adam when it wasn't his fault at all.

yea, i really enjoyed the first bit of the mandela catalouge, but they made me really fall in love with it
i believe that the caller is in fact an alternate for one reason, the call, little emotion, and grammar is off, probably picked up tonight as two-night's thus the three nights offer, and the 'i appreciate it more than you think', when you would usually say 'more than you know', just my take as that being the big red flag of 100% confirmation of it being an alternate
The "tonight" -> "two nights" thing is a good catch.
Oh yeah, not a doubt in my mind that it was an alternate. Mostly I believe it because of the fact it seems like she lured them to her house, but until I'd heard Jonah and Adam talking a lot I wasn't completely sure if the grammar was just because of a bilingual creator or something.
And the fact that they're willing to pay 500$ a night just for a cat that they think haven't passed yet
