That’s not the coolest thing I’ve ever heard but it’s in the top 10. If your Pops is still with us, shake his hand for having a Tele and allowing Dan to blow the roof off this place
I think Dan Baird is an extremely underrated talent. He is an excellent singer, song writer, and guitar player who epitomizes what is best about Southern rock and rollers. His songs are both insightful and humorous. He also does other peoples songs great. His rendition of this song is right up there with Bruce's. What I love about seeing him on video is that he always seems to be having a great time! He certainly picked the right line of work and I hope he keeps doing it for years to come. Thanks so much for posting this.
He plays straight ahead rock n roll, gives you your moneys worth, seems to me he’s a regular dude. The bands he’s in are always tight and he makes an effort. He wants people to have a blast. If you got a drink in your hand, stomp your foot. -Dan Baird
Just about all his music is full of energy. That is all he does as far as I can tell. My favorite Dan Baiard is from his studio album, "Love Songs for the Hearing Impaired called ""Dixie Beauxderaunt, " with ," she was born with a short attention span, and stayed in school long enough to say she quit." and Knocked Up," with You got knocked up, I got knocked out, You got locked out, I got locked up." Classic Dan Baird lines. The hook to "I Love you period," is genius, nad clever. Good writing all the way around. Some of my favorite music.
More proof that with a Tele, a decent overdrive, a tube amp and passion you can take over the world! I’m a huge Springsteen fan but this version is a GTO on an open road
Since this Dan has put out two brilliant cds/Lps "SoLoW" and "Rollercoaster" . You can check cool information about him and his band on facebook.com/danbairdandhomemadesin/ or www.danbairdandhomemadesin.net/
Hi Sara, ‘Johnny 99’ is one of 5 songs that Dan Baird played at this one-off benefit gig for Tommy Womack which took place in Nashville. Dan wasn’t on tour at the time so he & Warner (who both live in Nashville) were able to perform at the gig - Mauro Magellan was at home in Wisconsin at the time. They used Brad Pemberton instead, who is Steve Earle’s drummer & who also plays in Dan & Warner’s ‘other band’ The Bluefields.
"So if you can take a man's life for the thoughts that's in his head. Then sit back in that chair and think it over judge one more time. And let 'em shave off my hair and put me on the execution line" these lyrics fit right in with the cancel culture, believe women, the trend of being offended on other people's behalf, "toxic masculinity" and "white power patriarchy" we live in today...
Settle down beavis, your life isn't gonna be taken, just because you are a white patriotic patriarch anytime soon. Probably never, so quit whining and enjoy the rock show.
He’s literally asking for the death penalty which they don’t have in Jersey. If Ralph pulled that nonsense in the South, he wouldn’t have had to ask. The jury would’ve taken care of that. How’s that for toxic?
Great cover of this Springsteen classic.✌️
Thanks for kickn my butt........you guys rock!!!!
My dear old Dad's old Telecaster.....In good hands with Dan B
xx

I LOVE watching Warner Hodges play guitar. Just makes my heart and ears smile. Wow.
The Scorchers dude? Cool. He played in an amazing band with the coolest name the law would allow.
This is definitely the best version of this song....full of energy.

"I love you, period." When he was with the Georgia Satellites is the first I ever heard of him.
Not even close, Springsteen 85 Paris and get back to me...
I’ve enjoyed every song I’ve heard on satellite radio!
me too
Dan Baird has long been one of my faves. Agree--an underrated artist.
rebecca milliken Dan's king 🤠
Georgia Satelites were the best!!
Indeed
Good gracious, this is fantastic. 🔥🔥🔥
Great bass playing .. Love it!!
Great version. First time I've heard this.
The best rock'roll band since Stones 1973!
Who’s in the band?
Disregard. Posted before he introduced the folks driving that train
This is excellent.
Good Lord that was awesome !
Rocks ! Great song ...
Crackin' band
More proof that with a Tele, a decent overdrive, a tube amp and passion you can take over the world!
I’m a huge Springsteen fan but this version is a GTO on an open road

Homemade Sin stuff is worth the effort. Good old fashioned southern rock n roll.
Teles and overdrive. It’s not rock science but very few do it well
👍👍👌👌👏👏👏💪💪🇨🇭🇨🇭❤️
The bassist isn't Dan's wife, as she has a different last name.
Who's the bassist? Is it Dan's wife?
I like this version waaaaay better than Bruce’s❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Dan ROCKS
good roken rool
Why is Mauro not on drums?

So, you ripped this off from Music City Roots. Nice.
It’s pronounced “MAW-WAH”, not “May-wa”.
I know, but give Dan a pass It’s just too good! He’s not from north Jersey🤣
As Shawn Spencer would say-I’ve heard it both ways
If you correct Dan in the South you may need an armed escort outta town😂
Kids wearing Marlboro hats?

Great Band but a Kid in the front row is wearing a Marlboro hat?
Не слабо делают
It's actually a Johnny Cash song.
+Ric Rey He did record it yes, but Springsteen wrote it, and recorded it first, on the Nebraska album.
+moe17moe Wow, didn't know that. I assumed that JC wrote it since he's older. Thanks for the info.
Love the Nebraska album, all of it!
No it isn't, J Cash covered it
I think Johnny covered three songs from the Nebraska album even
Don’t ever show up in Jersey. It’s pronounced “ Mah-wah”, not “May-wah” 😜
Another great tune from the Boss, too bad Dan Baird screwed it up big time.
Never heard Bruce play it live? .... he plays it just like this
@@twist2723 Sorry brother, but I have to go with the Boss' version on his "Nebraska" release.
🤮
That’s maybe the worst cover!
You’ve obviously never heard the lounge version of Supersonic by Oasis. It’s a crime against humanity
no talent at all
Great Band but a Kid in the front row is wearing a marlboro hat?
I guess his “ Crack builds lean muscle mass “ t shirt was at the laundromat
