Hi Davie, another peach, love it, will be giving this a try, I love all your traditional type dressings, great on the northern lochs. Thanks again Jimf
Great video as always. Very hard to get videos on traditional tying methods like yours. One of the few great things that has come out of this pandemic is all the great tyers have been uploading a lot more videos 😎👍👍
What a lovely tie. There are many of us I am sure who really appreciate these completely free lessons from a really gifted fly tier. This looks perfect for wild brown trout and also the rainbows when conditions suit.
hooked into the biggest trout of the season last night on a size 16 gray duster. After a 10 minute battle he wrapped me around a stick and got away.Valiant creature and got what he deserved and I still had the fun of fooling him. Thanks for the ideas and stay safe
Tied this today, albeit I used a sunburst golden pheasant topping for the tail, hare's fur with gold lite brite through it and a grouse wing feather for the front hackle. I wouldn't have managed if I hadn't watched how you dye stuff or how you blend materials so thanks for that. Hope mine catches! If not I'll have to buy more materials!
Fantastic as always davie👍 Could you use a hen hackle for the head or do you get more movement from the partridge? Also would this be best fished on the top dropper?
Hi Gary, It's certainly a top dropper fly though it would work anywhere on the cast as it's a great pattern..A hen hackle would fish just as well as the partridge as they both are just as soft...I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie..
Hi Frans, It would be a great pattern for caddis but it's a good all-round fly, it's a good fly on the top dropper as this style of fly is suited.. I'm glad you liked it.. All the very best Davie..
Looks very fishy! Another one to make and try! I will substitute hen pheasant for the partridge as I don’t have any but it should be close enough to work!? Be safe!
Tidy fly dave!! where on a cast of 3 would you fish this? Top or middle dropper or point! what time of year would you fish this and what to other flies would you fish this with? Thank in advance Aidan..
Hi Aidan, I would put it on the top dropper of a cast of three and on the dropper of two flies which I prefer to fish more than a cast of three flies..It's a great summer fly though it will fish throughout the year especially if you fish it on the river even though it's more a style used on lochs..I'm glad you liked it.. All the very best Davie..
I want to ask you Davie on your opinion of store bought flys, for me most of them look unnatural, and I have had much more success from the flys I have tied from your wonderful demonstrations, my question is do these companies that supply these flys actually use the correct materials that were used in the original patterns, and if so how do they make profit doing that?
Hi Rob, I personally like Bug-Bond and their UV light which I have used since it came on the market.. Veniards are the wholesaler so any shop that stocks their materials will be able to help you out..I have also attached a link to both the resin and the torch.. www.fishingmegastore.com/fly-tying-uv-resin-and-torches/bug-bond-uv-cure-resin-professional-kit~10020.html All the very best Davie..
Hi Tom, We are allowed to travel 5 miles so we are restricted to the water closest to us. I did have a couple of hours and had some nice dry fly fishing but the water is so low and warm so I'm now waiting for the conditions to get a little bit better.. All the very best Davie..
Very Nice Davie.
Thankyou for showing me how to tie your Brown Pearly Palmer.
Aloha🌴🎣🏄♂️

Would you consider making a tying video where you tie a mouse imitation?
Fantasticas lindas lindas você é gênio show
Love these soft hackle patterns. What is the fly made to imitate and how do you fish it?
Hi Frans,
It would be a great pattern for caddis but it's a good all-round fly, it's a good fly on the top dropper as this style of fly is suited.. I'm glad you liked it..

When tying a hen blackie and it says wax the thread, is the wax just the normal wax we use or is it black cobblers wax.

Здравствуйте, чем можно заменить джунглиевого петуха, кроме окрашенной цесарки?
Hi Болат К,
Use what feathers you have but this fly works just as well without the Jungle Cock eyes...
All the very best Davie..
the authorities let you fish yet?
