There are four books in the Tom Stewart series of flies published by Trout & Salmon magazine the first was 5/-, the last £1. I got all four books and got a bookbinding friend to put the four books in one leather bound volume titled “ 200 POPULAR FLIES and How to Tie Them. “ 1963-73. The Burton according to Tom Stewart was a River Nith fly and that it was introduced to Loch Lomond by a Mr Dargavel, it was an immediate success as a sea trout fly and also took salmon as well, hope this was of interest. I'd love to see a video of your library, or your fly-tying book collection. You often show or suggest a book to us. As a bibliophile myself I often seek out and purchase old fly tying books. Thank you.
Fantastic! I have never seen anyone tye one wing at a time like that. Incredible. Also nice to see a crossover fly that fishes for the different species.
A River Nith classic! The broon turkey. .. Has caught thousands of sea trout on the Nith over the years. Town water anglers used it without jungle cock, mid nithsdale anglers fished it with. Great video 👍
Hi davie, any chance you could do a drum lightning salmon fly? It's on the feathers flies and phantoms site , I'm going to do it in a hook and thinking about a tube as well and I would be interested in what you'd maybe use in a hair wing version of it. Best regards Dean
Hi Jim, I have attached a link to the Tom Stewarts book of 200 popular flies for you to see below and I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie.. www.amazon.co.uk/Two-Hundred-Popular-Flies-Them/dp/071362664X

It was one of my late Dad's favourite night flies for Sea trout. The dressing was the same, but he called it the Brown Turkey. Great video Davie.
Yes Sir You make it look so easy Thanks, Davie
Lovely. That seals fur colour combo would go down well in Germany! Going to give this a go later.
Cheers! Davie! Beautiful I can see that doing well on the Lochs over on the Uists for the seatrout and brown trout!
I will be tying and fishing a few of those on heavy irons as floating line wets for steelhead this spring. Great info as always.
So beautiful, so alive, so simple, yet so difficult. You are a true artist.

That’s beautiful. I could see that as a bass or crappie fly for the lakes here in the states.
Beautiful colour combination!
