I do not share my experience to give you a template for what to do or what not to do in life, fitness, food or with weight loss. I share in hopes of inspiring others to start, start working towards a healthier and happier life by taking ownership of where they are and where they are going. Quick fix solutions along with guilt and shame based marketing schemes lie. There is not one right way for everyone, but there is a right way for you and you worth doing the work to figure that out. I encourage all to seek guidance from medical professionals, dietitians, therapy and vetted fitness professional as needed.

I'm a chronically anxious person, and I've found it very helpful to reframe the way I imagine people's reactions.
For example, you said you don't want to email your dietician because you don't want to take all her time. The reframe would be "My dietician's job is to help me navigate this transition. Sending emails does not make me a burden; it makes me an involved client."
Or with your brother's visit: "My brother's family came all the way to see me. I'm sure they are more interested in walking a little slower to spend more time with me than they are just to get somewhere quicker."
When we try to mitigate inconveniencing others, what we are saying is that the people we care about see us as a burden. If we DON'T want to believe that, we need to first stop acting like it's true. ❤
❤❤❤
This is such a great comment 💟
What a lovely perspective ❤. Thank you.
Great point…and true for me…I have had those feelings and making a conscious decision to begin to change the narrative…the internal banter so to speak is a great starting point. Because that is what it all comes down to - how much worth we give ourselves. ❤
👍
I STARTED AT 310 AT MY SURGERY AND TODAY I AM 213 LBS. LOTS OF LOVE!! BE BLESSED-
Wooowwww!!! Almost 100lbs down 💯 that’s amazing 👏🏻 keep it up change your whole world!!!!
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations
Congratulations!🎊
Yay🎉🎉🎉
Hi April! I just wanted to assure you when you talk about times or issues that are not as happy or positive as you generally are, that it's ok with those of us in your audience. We are here for you through that too. You are a very positive person, but no one can be expected to maintain that 100% of the time. You seem to feel bad if you touch on something that isn't entirely happy. I hope that's not for our sake. You are a human and we all have challenges and unhappy moments and it's ok to let us in when those topics come up. We're here for all of it. And love you for all of you and all your moments in your journey. Thank you for this update! You are doing so great, and have a lot of good insights to share! Thank you!!
Weigh in starts at 19:07
The hero I didn't know I needed. Thank you!
Hero!!
Thank you
Girl your face! I can see the difference in your face. As in the weight falling off. You look better in the eyes too.
Also, you paid for that surgery, you monopolize. They’ll respond when they have time. They made money. You didn’t get charity from them. Bother them people.
You can do this. You’re worth doing it.
Always remember, you are not a burden. Your questions aren't a burden. You are deserving of asking and having questions answered. Keep going ❤❤
Please Reach out to your drs office when you have questions. Not only will they answer you as they do other patients but you are responsible and being respectful to the hard work your doctors has done. It will also provide a documented process to look at when you have a follow up. We please do not look at it as you taking up someone else’s time. You matter!
Maybe talk about it in therapy. ❤❤❤
Everyone else has said what I was going to say! Don't feel bad at all about taking up people's time. You are not monopolising. Answering your questions is one of the things they are paid to do. I was customer service in health. We are always happy to help.
The a answer is yes, stop when full and fraction your meals as required
I can see changes in your face , the hard work is showing and your smile pairs beautifully ! So glad you had your friend to spend time with .. You are the friend we all want or should have ! You’re doing so well , keep going ! 🎉
I've followed you from the VERY beginning. (Waited for new posts as you made them) Your journey has helped me and probably many others. You're such a lovely person, April. Thank you for sharing so much of your weightloss ups amds downs. ❤
Ditto!!!
I've been with you since the very beginning. I'm so proud of all you've accomplished!
I think your practitioners wouldn’t mind if you email your questions. They’d probably prefer that to you being anxious. Rooting for you ❤
I liked seeing you stop yourself mid negative spiral. It is such a hard habit to curb, I too definitely deal with that.
Yesterday is just a lesson, tomorrow is just a hope today is what matters. Forgive yourself for yesterday and make decisions today to make tomorrow better. Looking back is only beneficial if you are recognizing your lessons. To punish yourself for the past only cramps what you could accomplish today. You have this!! You are amazingly and beautifully made
I’ve been following you for a long time and I’m so proud of you. Really glad you got the surgery, it’s going to truly change your life. I started mounjaro and really hoping it’ll help me. I started at 318, and down to 303 now. Keep going girl!!!🎉
I love you my friend ❤ It was such a wonderful visit and seeing you always makes me so happy
So wonderful to see your change visibly. It goes to show that some of us need help from the medical profession, it's really hard to stop the drug of an eating high. Lots of hugs and love my sweet xxxx well done🎉🎉🎉🎉
You're smiling again! 😊 good to see xxx
Eat proteine first. Then eat the rest till you full. If you not hungry don't eat. As simple as that. ❤
April you're so adorable and your willingness to be vulnerable is endearing. I think you're an inspiration!
April, your attitude is so positive. You go girl!! You have such a beautiful spirit. And your smile is so special. You are awesome all around girl. You got this for sure. Blessings 🫶🤗❤️😘👍🙏🙋
April, Wow I am so excited for you. I only found your channel recently but I went to the beginning and just watched your journey (over the course of a few weeks). I feel like our stories are so similar. I was overweight my whole life. I had lost about 75 lbs only to regain more. At my heaviest I was 315 and I decided to have the mini gastric bypass. I lost 140lbs in 2 years and maintained that weight loss for 4 years. It was the best decision I ever made. I've regained about 40lbs back (2 pregnancies and covid shutdowns later). But I'm getting back into a more active lifestyle and I've already lost 13 lbs of that in 6 weeks. I'm looking forward to following your story!!!!
Very proud of you for taking care of your health! You are inspirational and encouraging to so many!
Love getting your updates! Continued success!
You are such a sweat hearted person. Thank you for coming back to UA-cam and sharing your story again. Congratulations on feeling better! You have a lot of people on your corner ❤
I'm always happy to see your posts and progress!
I like the sound of that op. Your surgeon sounds very sensible.
Your doctor's office job is to answer questions you have. Please reach out to them and ask your questions! Great job thus far, keep going! Take your vitamins and focus on high protein to help with the hair, but unfortunately, it will likely still have some fallout because you have had such extremely fast weight loss. It'll be worth it!
You can do this. It seems to me that paying attention to how you feel along with meeting your nutrient needs/goals will help you learn this new way of eating.Edit: We ALL have regrets, for all sorts of reasons. We cannot go back. For me, I've had to grieve what I regret, acknowledge when it comes up again, pray again, and turn my attention to what God has for me to do today.
Wow! What a great weight loss! I’m loving your videos. You’re such a joy ! 💚
Love your updates! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
I can see the worry in your face. Its hard to trust yourself when you have regained so many times. You just need to start to build that relationship with yourself again. This surgery means a new lifestyle. You got this!!
Loved how joyful you seem
April definitely be on top off the vitamins and protein for your hair
My best friend did the VGS when she started to see hair fall
She was on top of it and now her hair is full, thick and gorgeous
❤❤❤❤
wow Sx for portion control portion control is SO easy when you're eating the amount of protein that your body requires and plenty of ppl lose fat from NOT running - in fact, newbie runners gain weight usually because appetite increases (evolutionary response)
You are correct to stop eating when full. Don’t force it. Dividing the meals seems the best way, but definitely text or email your dietitian.
It's good to see you happy and doing well! If you have questions, call them! They really want you to call. It's part of your recovery.
April it’s great to see you doing so well and enjoying your friend’s visit. Sounds like you made good choices even when you ate out and you were able to enjoy spending time with your friends and not obsessing about food. It must have felt so great to realize that you were walking all day and yet you weren’t in pain.
We are here for you and we are very happy to cheer you on!
I'm so glad that you're back at it and making videos. It would be great to see your vlogs again. Doing housework or errands, walking the dogs etc.
You look so good and it’s nice to catch up on things as well. Blessings to you and your family ❤
You are looking more and more amazing!❤ 💪So proud of you April!❤😊
Wow April you are truly doing amazing!!! 😮🤩
You rock April!!!
You look beautiful 😊 love watching your progress, keep up the good work!
You are glowing!!!!
You got this Lauren, the past is the past. You got this.
Hi April you look very pretty and glad you and your husband had an awesome time with your friends
love this color on you!!
Hun what has helped me is telling myself this is not the last and and or only time ever i will have this food. ❤ about the the bad foods
There is a Soondoobu Korean place right beside the mall a block over from Waikiki that has a really great vegan tofu soup plus once you eat solids, you can try the chicken, it's really great and filling plus a good price.
Way to keep taking one step at a time! 👏 😍
This is so exciting ❤❤❤
Eat when you’re hungry. Start with the protein first. Your body may notify you in ways you don’t expect that you’re full. My nose would get runny. Still does sometimes. 😀
so happy for you
You got this!!🌻
Blessings💜💜💜
You are doing great! Keep it up!!!!! You're beautiful!!!!!
Well done . I had my first stall this week . We will slim together . Xx
Your glowing ❤ xx

Big hug from Croatia ❤😊
You go girl❤
Brilliant! 👏👏👏
Keep it up, April. You look lovely.
Thank u for sharing❤
Hi April your very emotional because of the lower food calorie intake. Its normal it happened to me iv lost 40lbs since October 2023 to February 2024 iv been maintaining (i have not had weight loss surgery though) but i went through emotional challenges too. Its also a lack of the emotional eating. And its ok hun youll get used to it because you will find different ways to cope. You really need to see ur dietician because if your eating the same meal leftovers 2 hrs later and still the ammount your supposed to you might be taking in extra calories. But you can do this youv got this. Stay strong remember there is a baby at the finish line of healthy weight. Just take your vitamins your hair and teeth will be ok so many people do not take them stop them or dont take them regularly and they lie about it so don't worry about the hair and teeth yet. Hugs i had failure in weight loss surgery i could not get it done because the surgeon paralyzed my stomach during the surgery he then lied when I tried to sue him and iv gotten over it i lost 40lbs in 5 months i do physical therapy and exercise and watch my food intake and im doing good. And so are you. Its just all about calories we take in. I hope the dietician steers you right because the one you had a few years ago didn't you once told me she or he said 3000 calories a day was ok because you were working out but that was sooo not ok so please get a good dietician. Ok wish you well. ❤at my heaviest i was 243 im down to 203lbs.you can do it.
That color looks beautiful on you.
❤❤❤ you are beautiful and strong!
2:15 HEY April!!! 👋🏻 You are doing so great congrats!!!
Just curious - how many calories and how many grams of protein are you shooting for daily or weekly at the time of this video?
Forgive me if you have already said, thanks 🥰
You look gorgeous ❤❤
I was wondering, does your bariatric doctor have a support team available for his patients? You mentioned a dietician does his also recommended seeing a therapist as well? I would imagine weight loss surgery would bring with it a whole slew of things to deal with emotionally and mentally before and after that therapy would help with. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!❤
Will you be showing us the scale? I am happy for you and it’s nice too see you here again.
Do you not believe her? Do you really need to see the scale? She actually DID show the scale...look in the top left at 19:14.
@@retrieverlover8228she said too leave any questions, so I did. I have been watching for years.
♥ Big Hugs April ♥
My mom had this and drank protein shakes because she was so full all the time
It’s been years she still eats of the kids menu
❤❤❤
❤
From what I understand duodenal switch is th most successful in terms of weight loss maintenance but also it is the one with more serious side effects and I think the vitamins are for life. I am curious why you didn't try something like Ozempic and whether that was brought up as a choice. Or why is this kind of surgery vs regular bypass. I am just curious
So many wonderful beautiful changes.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
😊❤
It’s so funny when I started watching you I
Had weight to loose and I lost some then I gained it back. I was also not really for any surgery then in November of 2023 I changed my mind. And I got gastric sleeve in December of 2023! We are on the same path my friend I have about 30 lbs to reach my goal! We can do it! ❤
Hey April are you still treating yourself to a pair of earrings every month?
Sending love ❤️
Hey April! Rosemary oil helps with hair regrowth :)
Just curious. Did your doctors not recommend wegovy or mounjaro first before doing surgery. Seems for some people this does wonders for weight loss and insulin resistance.
👍
It's all in the little things 😉
Hi April! Congratulations on your weight loss! New to the channel and sorry if this has been discussed already, but were you ever contemplating GLp1 peptides like Wegovy or Zepbound? Thank you!
They're not appropriate for someone that needs to lose more than 100 pounds (much less 200+).
@@retrieverlover8228 Where did you hear that? I heard lots of people losing 100+ pounds on GLP1's.
@@retrieverlover8228 I have never heard that.
🎉❤((🙏))
Good job lady happy for you
I see a lot of questions, which April said to leave, but no responses.
Maybe she means for a video idk
Is it reversible?
Nope
Well not the part where they remove most of your stomach
Don't make the mistake of thinking that movement or exercise is helping you lose weight, it's not. It's entirely to do with the calorie and eating restriction that the weight loss is happening. Exercise is more for your overall health.
uh no not at all they both contribute as muscle is active metabolic tissue that requires you to fuel it. So if you are overweight and eat a normal healthy amount of calories ( which will be deficit if you were eating 3000+ calories to gain the weight etc) then exercising will cause you to lose much faster as your body will get the fuel it demands from your fat tissue. It is also why athletes need to eat a lot of calories to maintain muscle mass.
Yes, most weight loss is achieved through eating less, but exercise burns calories as well and also contributes to weight loss.
Bingo! Movement is a very small portion of weight loss. It's great for your heart and body, but does very little in weight loss.
@@Mone_Over_All only a very small amount.
Nah, incidental exercise like walking around burns a lot of calories compared to sedentary people and matters a lot. People should be moving
