How to Adjust Parking Brake ( Hilux)

How to adjust the parking brake on Toyota hilux. This is a 2009 model and a similar procedure may apply to other Toyota models as well

True below ,but it got me out of trouble when I was outback and did the proper adjustment when I got home. It was also a good chance to clean out all the crap that had fallen under the case through the handbrake slot (never know what you might find !).cheers

Thanks for your time and video upload mate , but this is just a band aid fix as you would eventually run out of adjustment using this method.
Need to adjust directly at drum as stated in other comments here.

Wrong steps. Should adjust the brake shoes to brake drum clearance first

Only cowboys adjust the brakes this way, adjust it properly by the rear brake shoes..🤦🤦

I’ve had to do both… I did the max on the brake shoes and handbrake was still weak. Did this and now they all good

Go straight to the drum brakes and adjust the shoes from there, hence the name "adjuster screw assembly"
Don't even bother with the rest unless you have installed a new cable.
