- Track 5 from their debut album “Tales of Mystery and Imagination - Edgar Allan Poe” copyright 1976 Polygram Records and recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Listen for the cork popping two seconds into this song. Alan Parsons is one extremely gifted person. His project was a new concept at the time, the “producer as recording artist.” At a young age, Alan Parsons had worked as an assistant engineer on the Beatle’s albums “Abbey Road” and “Let it Be” and later as chief engineer on Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon” in 1973, for which he received a Grammy nomination. Pink Floyd regards him as an important contributor to the recording process, more a producer than simply an engineer. He was also a musician and teamed with Eric Woolfson, a composer, performer and producer for this, the first of many successful Alan Parsons Project albums. The album was ground-breaking for its advanced recording techniques in the age when recording tape was state-of-the-art. These uploads are from the original analog recordings as released on vinyl. In 1987, the album was remixed and remastered, adding Orson Welle’s narration to the opening track, converted to digital and released on CD. It has to be considered one of the best albums from the seventies and a stellar debut. Recorded in HQ format from the original vinyl. Written by Eric Woolfson & Alan Parsons and produced by Alan Parsons. Engineered by Alan Parsons with assistance from Pat Stapley & Chris Blair. RIP Eric Woolfson, Kevin Peek. Featuring:

(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
At the far end of your tether and your thoughts won't fit together
So you sleep light or whatever and the night goes on forever
Then you might change like the weather
You're in need of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
Even clouds seem bright and breezy 'cause the livin' is free and easy
See the rat race in a new way like you're wakin' up to a new day
It's a wise thing if you're clever
Take the lead from Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether
Find the end of a rainbow, fly wherever the winds blow
Laugh at life like a sideshow, just what you need to make you feel better
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
Satisfaction altogether guaranteed by Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether
Woo, ooh-ooh-ooh-hoo
Find the end of a rainbow, fly wherever the winds blow
Laugh at life like a sideshow, just what you need to make you feel better
Don't stop bringin' the girls round, don't start havin' a showdown
Keep on handin' the jug round, all that you need is wine and good company
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
(Do what you need to make you feel better)
(Do what you need to make you feel)
My favorite song from _Tales of Mystery and Imagination,_ even though it has the least to do with the original Edgar Allan Poe story than any of the others on the album (I think they just liked the way the title sounded, haha).
It's such a shame what a thousand years can do.😡
