Frickin awesome tutorial. Just wanted to share a cool trick to do what edge flattening at 2:12. Instead of sliding the outer edges on the x-axis until they appeared to line up with the inner edges, you could select all four edges (outer and inner) and hit "s+x+0" to scale it along the x-axis such that it becomes perfectly flat.
Would love to hear more about the process of optimizing your cinderblock material! Not simply the nodes, but the intermediary steps you took towards your final material. Cheers!
Last time I made a critique of your cinder block, but this time I saw the cinder block you used as reference and yours looks exactly like it. My cinder blocks look pretty damn different, not in design but by quality and so I retract my critique. You weren't wrong, my irl cinderblocks are just uglier than yours. Also getting a closer look at that material you made, wow that's really fantastic.
I really appreciate that man! I definitely did take your critique into consideration though and made the edges rougher and more ‘jagged’ and the blocks benefitted a ton! I’m really curious to see your cinder blocks now lmao And thank you! The material was something I really wanted to perfect :)
