    wow, thanks! I have the Baltic Brown granite. I had my cabinets painted October Mist which improved the look massively. Soon though I want that granite gone, and this video is definitely helpful to make the transition.

    What would you suggest with white cabinets, dark brown flooring, and red brick island bar?

    I’m so torn bc i love white cabinets and white countertops with grey veining and maybe light grey island cabinets..but I want to try to move to a bit more warmth. What to do? 😕

    i went with more color. Cambria Tralfagar with Benjamin Moore Beach Glass. I didn't paint the cabinets but kept the oak.

    Would love to know what company makes the best suede finish. And any warm colors you could recommend in a creamy white/sandy beige color palette.
    Love watching your videos!

    Yes please do a video about satin/matte finish countertops. I'm trying to decide between Silestone Calacatta Gold or Etheral Glow in a matte finish, but now you have me second guessing! I heard you see less water spots with matte, but you do notice things like crumbs more than a countertop with a sheen. Is that true?

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint
      @KylieMInteriorsPaint  3 місяці тому +1

      Aaaactually, a lot of people complain about seeing too many spots on the more matte finish countertops! I have a Caesarstone one in my bathroom and see every...single...thing on it. It drives me crazy. Apparently Silestone is the best for avoiding this - better than Cambria and Caesarstone. Also, you miiiiight see fewer spots given that it's white (mine is a soft gray).
      Also, if your kitchen has a lot of light, matte can be great, but if it's a darker space, yoou might like how a glossier finish adds energy and life :).
      I will say though, that i do LOVE Calacatta Gold. We did it in my girlfriend's home and it's stinkin' gorgeous!

    I am trying to match my honey oak cabinets/ white tile backsplash with a countertop color. I love Granite but having a hard time finding a color that goes with it, any recommendations?

    Hello. I went with Stonework. I like them in my bathrooms. I thought the color and patterns were excellent. I looked at Caersarstone, Cambria as well. There are nicer colors and patterns coming out every year.

    Hi! We are in the process of finalizing designs for a new build, and the production builder only has a few nicer options, and all quartz options are Silestone, so I’m guessing/ hoping that’s a decent one? I noticed you recommended Silestone Calacatta Gold, but since that is the top dollar option very expensive upgrade option, I’m not sure I can justify it. What are your thoughts on Silestone Lusso? Paired with white cabinets. Is it too busy? Does it give a high end look?

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint

      You know what? I wanted Calacatta Gold in my laundry room and the price was too much.
      Instead, I got Fir Stone Q6101. I'm not as familiar with the brand to tell you whether it's amazing or not, but it looks DAMN CLOSE to Calacatta Gold! It was also 40% LESS EXPENSIVE which is a HUGE chunk of change! www.fir-stone.com/q6101/

      @@KylieMInteriorsPaintwow, that is beautiful! Sadly the builder doesn’t offer that option, they are very limited. So I’m guessing that’s a “no” on Silestone Lusso? It’s the only other option the builder had that has gold flecks in it to match our hardware. Seems it may be out of style though. 😢

      Hey Jerry, I'm not sure what the price range is, you'll want to check with the manufacturer. Some companies have different prices, too, so don't be afraid to get a price from different suppliers.

    While the advice to stick with only established national brands won't steer you wrong, there are in fact a lot of lesser known regional brands offering quality stuff at much lower cost. If you have a trusted fabricator, they'll know which lesser known brands are making the good stuff and which are not. If you know what you're doing you can get quality products for a fraction of the cost of Cambria or Silestone, etc. My fabricator sells all the big name brands, and I selected a LG Viatera quartz in their showroom. But with my project coming it at 107 Sq ft, they said it was prohibitively expensive and they steered me towards a northeast regional brand that they often source from to come in at my price target. It's a mid-level quality product that has 95% quartz content and a 15 year warrant for a couple thousand less.

  • @artofstoneco
    @artofstoneco 3 місяці тому

    I'm a stone fabricator yes there's a lot of cool quartz but working with it personally on a daily basis quartz does have its issues always always look at your slabs before sending them to a fab shop

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint
      @KylieMInteriorsPaint  3 місяці тому

      Great point; hand-picking your slab is a great way to get the look you want. And the cheap quartz is pretty bad, I've heard some terrible stories. I try and stick with the well-known brands.

    What colors would you use on your walls throughout your home as well as on your countertops if you're going for a more coastal look? As well as if you like to change things out a lot… With regard to your colors and accents.

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint
      @KylieMInteriorsPaint  Місяць тому

      Hmmm, generally speaking (as I live on the West Coast of Canada and have a slightly coastal color palette). BM White Dove / BM Revere Pewter / BM Gray Pinstripe / BM Gray Owl / BM Silver Mink | BM Amherst Gray (I could go on, and that's just Benjamin Moore's colors!)

    We spent $10K on countertops, and they trashed them. Spots all over, streaks. They were going to install the backsplash broken. They also sold us quartzite instead of granite, which was $2K over the estimate. Everything that could go wrong, did. How can you find good contractors?!

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint
      @KylieMInteriorsPaint  3 місяці тому +1

      Jeez Louise, this sounds TERRIBLE! I live on Vancouver Island and its mostly word of mouth, so I have my go-to suppliers. I mean, quartzite is even harder than granite, but you have to WANT to pay the extra 2K for it - that's not fair they just did it anyway - crazy!

    • @artofstoneco
      @artofstoneco 3 місяці тому +1

      Don't go to contractors go to a fab shop directly never do anything with a Middle man I deal with this all the time allot of fabricators don't do the correct things to prevent a break or a voided warranty make sure they know what they're doing and take pride in there work p.s never buy quartz prefabs they are not of quality and most fab shops will no fix issues with prefabs not unless you pay for the extra time out into it.

    What is the difference between quartz and quartzite? Pros/cons of both?

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint
      @KylieMInteriorsPaint  3 місяці тому +2

      Hey Sonya! Quartzite is the superior product as it's much more resilient (even harder than granite!). With quartz, you can pick the one you want and get what's expected for the most part, but with quartzite, you definitely want to pick our your exact slab, as there can be variation from slab to slab :). Quartz doesn't need to be sealed, but quartzite does :).

      @@KylieMInteriorsPaint and Sonya , love this channel Kylie, thank you for featuring Vicostone's Cemento! Quartzite is natural sealed rock as it is porous, whereas Quartz is 90-93% ground quartzite and 7-10% resin and is manufactured using advanced technology to create a non-porous and sealed slab during manufacturing (we use Breton advanced and world class Technology) to create consistent slabs, no fracking no shattering during cutting and offers endless versatility in colour variations as well as top choice for durability and non porous surface, i hope this also adds a few extra helpful tips and comparisons between the two ! :)

      Quartzite is natural and quartz is manufactured. I have Taj Mahal Quartzite in my shower. Love it! However, you do need to reseal it every year, at least. With Quartz, no worries forever! I'm opting for quartz in my kitchen because of all the soaps and sanitzing techniques etc in a kitchen.

    Have you seen MSI inkjet quartz countertops? Calacatta Castana and Calacatta Anava are very realistic looking. The only problem is they recommend a mitered edge which makes the countertops look a bit like formica. Would love your thoughts.

    • @KylieMInteriorsPaint
      @KylieMInteriorsPaint  2 місяці тому

      MSI is a countertop I've had a lot of luck with! However, I haven't heart anything about the mitered edge. I mean, of course, you don't want a super sharp edge, but there's usually a pretty standard, 'slightly softened' edge, you know?
