Great unit! Really simple set up, well presented. I assume it's a manual CCR, diver checks the readout of the O2 partial pressures and adds O2 when required. With a constant flow of 0.7l/min that would be would still be fairly frequently. Can you change the 02 flow rate or is it set? I'm guessing the diluent is added automatically by the second stage on top when the counterlungs deflate and the diver inhales.
When I saw the first pictures of the Go, I was immediately reminded of the OMG Gastoro and similar form factor rebreathers that you seem to quite like. One question I have about traveling with rebreathers: How do you manage to get a full oxygen tank and where do you get the sorb? Is that easy in any country or do you have any tricks? Currently on a dive vacation in Brazil, and I can't even find tanks with a DIN valve..
I had an inspiration classic. Last year I did some on the Triton. Just a 10ltr cylinder on my back. No carrying a heavy unit with site bail out. I love to try out this system. Where in EU is this possible? Nice presentation.
Achim, people may accuse you of being many things…but “not serious” is almost certainly at the very bottom of that potential list haha. Thanks for the candid and in-depth video. I also get annoyed at the “keyboard Sheck(s)” as I call them, constantly scolding/whining about Gus and Woody (and others) not meeting their exacting expert standards. Yeah, they’re not perfect and they say/do dumb things occasionally on their videos which can be frustrating. But their hearts are clearly in the right place, and their general goofy behavior brings some much needed levity and fun thats necessary to attract new young divers. Safety is serious, but too many divers act like they’re James Cameron diving the Challenger Deep - rather than someone enjoying their fun hobby; full of self-importance and jumping at any excuse to put down others to show their peers how smart/skilled they are. Especially in the tec/cave world. Folks like DiveTalk are a counterbalance to that - which we need. Otherwise the only new tec divers will be more middle-aged bitter white male dentists. And regardless, love them or hate them…pound for pound those two have done more for recruiting/educating the general public into/about diving than probably anyone else in the last 5 years.
What a balanced comment. I have to agree. I also have to admit, that I had to take a pause from watching them because the videos ever since the DCS incident felt exceedingly click baity. And I just felt the taking digs against people commenting (probably also unnecessary shit) in online forums on multiple videos was kind of weird. I do however take this channel here very seriously and hold it in high regards. So I might have to correct my impression. :)
Great video, happy that you confirm that the front mounted Dive Talk Go is a great unit. You still do not like being controlled by a machine and still do not trust eCCR ! No redundancy for Ppo2 display ? Kind Regards
Could it be used as a BO for a larger unit? I’m not ccr trained yet but will be on a BM o2ptima later this spring. Not looking forward to carrying the BO tank(s) but excited otherwise.
Hi Achim, hope you are doing well Messaging you not for the dive talk go but about your O2 rebreather courses. I’m just wondering if you have any instructors down here in Australia?? If not I’ll be in Switzerland next Christmas and my be able to travel to you in Germany 🇩🇪 Love all your content 🫶🏽
I asked the same question to Gus and Mike. They said there’s enough slack to easily reach your inflator. Also a lot of the dive talk go divers do a lot of dry suit diving. Haven’t tried it myself but fairly comfortable it shouldn’t be a problem.
So one question that arises...despite you beeing enthusiastic, is it CE certified? If breathing is so fantastic, and all is neat, it for sure has no problem with that. Any info on that?
On their website they say that there are currently no plans to get the Go CE certified. I am also a bit clueless what exactly this means for buying the rebreather in Europe and doing training here. There must be some difficulties for sure.
Nobody is mentioning the advertising price problem, unit on this price which is constantly mentioned as a major advantage and for sure would be over some other units does not come ready to dive. Actual price of the unit ready to dive is more that double or I am missing something?
Hi Achim . Non diver re breather question. Why doesnt the outside perimeter of the cannister not become a path or track ? Where the zorb meets the cannister walls , the outer layer must rest against a smooth surface ? Obviously it works , I was just curious.
Hi always like you video keep up the good work. i know it s a solid unit design by mike young. Tell me why we need a 80 CF for bailout on this unit if it's purely for recreational diving (unless you do cave). I mean i find it a bulky to have this in front of you plus the back tank. Would it not be possible to have the same kind of unit but backmounted??? And than use like a 30 or 40 CF in the back also ??? I don't know just my thoughts. You look like a freaking robocop with this unit in front 😂. Be safe
It is possible to dive a smaller tank, however you should always plan your gas according to your dive. AL80 is standard and easy to find, the idea is that you dive the GO with your existing OC setup which for most people is a BCD with an AL80 tank. But if you can go with an AL63 or AL40 then no problem. Just make sure you have enough gas for you and your buddy if you bail out at the worst possible time
I appreciate the demo. I would've liked a bit more of a review, instead of a walk-through. What are the pros and cons? Comparison to other similar units like the Triton? Things like that.
Gus said you can easily reach with your hand between the Go and your suit to operate your inflator button. But I know Achim is actually using dry suits with a second inflator valve at the side of the body.
@@grantmacdonald4838Mike talked about making that available as an option if we were happy with the advantages of the system after extensive testing. We are not at a place where we are ready to make it an option. Perhaps in the future? Who knows. Stay tuned.

It's small and light which makes it easy to travel with and use in general, mccr, kiss designed and manufactured, can attach and work with any recreational or technical configuration, and can be used as an oxygen rebreather. All points he mentioned and all points that the vast majority of alternatives dont address. It's also been said by others that it will be the cheapest on the market. Same pressure as your lungs assuming you're on the loop.
