    Speed and power of Tyson in his prime was simply something never seen in a boxing ring. Also notice how he never used one single jab...just duck, move in and hammer away with short hooks and uppercuts to the entire torso and head until the opponent was demolished and knocked out cold. Impressing.

    Am I the only one who believes without any reservation that Tyson was the greatest boxer of all time? The ferocity and speed and power in just one harmonious package. Ali and many others were obviously great but I never see the same kind of monster domination we see over and over again in Tyson's fights in his prime.

    • @onlyrog5
      @onlyrog5 6 років тому +10

      yhp99 greatest for a few years he did excellent (85-88) and yet crumbled once Rooney was gone? Study boxing history, he's one of the best talents but did not live up to his full potential while others actually did : talent, skills, accomplishments wise

    • @SuperPekka
      @SuperPekka 6 років тому +17

      For the short time that he was at his peak, he was the best. By far. Nobody could've touched him back then. But due to unfortunate circumstances, he also had the shortest peak of any top fighter.
      If D'Amato lived for another 10 years, Tyson would've been the Jordan, Gretzky or Ruth of boxing. No question about it: when he was at his peak, nobody could've beat him.

    • @steefburen9423

      no question ... in those yaers with Cus and Rooney he was the best, no one is coming even close to him. Thats why i have a gut feeling thinking Don King and his entourage were set up to prevent Tyson From coming the best of the best. Notice how 99% of this video is Mike before prison. That's because this is the real Mike Tyson to whom we speak of when we say one of the greatest ever. The guy that showed up after prison was just a shell of what used to be. In truth the decline of Tyson started right after the Spinks fight when Mike fired Keven Rooney or rather, King fired Rooney. Once Rooney was gone Tyson never trained properly again, and it finally came to a head against Douglas. See Don King thought Tyson was soo good that he didn't need all that training. That Mike was just a raw talent that already did the hard work to make it, but didn't need to train hard anymore to keep it. They learned their lesson when Douglas showed that wasn't the case. Evander Holyfield said once that Mike trained harder than any man he ever knew. And that right there was why Mike was great during the years of 85-88. Sure he had some great tools in his toolbox. But all that hard work Mike did under Rooney as per Cus's teachings is what glued all the talent together. This video shows you that not only did Mike have the power but he had the other things that were equally impressive. Mike had speed at HW that hasn't been seen since a prime Ali. Mike also was very hard to hit and even when you did hit him, Mike was never the kind of fighter that was going to go down from one punch. Mike also was one of the best body punchers in history that also happened to throw a lot of good combo's that worked well to get him open head shots. During the years of 85-88 even if Tyson didn't get the KO, he won 12 round decisions by land slides. Something a lot of Tyson haters will swear is a lie since the only Tyson they ever saw was the after prison Tyson which sadly had only one thing going for him. Power...Sure power was enough to get the job done against bums and even average fighters. But against great fighters it wasn't enough. The un bias Truth about the story of Mike Tyson is that at the very least, he was going to be a top3 HW of ALL TIME. Maybe even the BEST EVER. But Tyson beat Tyson. His fragile mental state combined with the snakes that were helping him to self implode took what should have been into the train wreck we all ended up seeing. And the one guy that could have held it together, Cus died before Tyson had a chance to really grow up and see people for what they were. These snakes made Tyson get rid of the people that loved him and knew what was best for his boxing career and Tyson wasn't bright enough at the time to see it.

      You're so right mate. I believe that if Tyson stayed on track he would have been undisputed greatest of all time (i think in many ways he's there anyway regardless) but imagine if he continued his utter domination for a few more years, and without the problems he had to tarnish his name and focus. He was a monster. I dont think anyone has dominated a sport in their prime as much as he did during his. Just the best there ever was. It's so sad that a person's tough life can get in the way of their immense greatness. Makes you think how many other people there have/are that would be doing tremendously amazing things right now but are held back by emotional issues and the such.
      Peace.

      +Ben it's funny you say that because I might have been one of them.. The reason I know so much about Mike is because he's the guy my trainer modeled my fighting style after.. I've seen every Tyson pro fight from his 1st up to Spinks atleast 50 times a piece. And in normal speed.. Slow mo... Reverse and forward over and over etc... Im not going to say I was all that because I didn't accomplish a lot.. I was only an ameture for a few years but I did rack up a 28-1-27 record. And that 1 loss was me getting DQ'd for low blows as I to am only 5'11 215LBS.. Plus the guy was 6'8 wearing his shorts up to his fucking chest and ref wouldn't call that shit.. I put him down in the second and he barly beat the count. Had I of not got DQ'd i was winning EZ. When you combine my short ameture record with the 25+ wins I got from our backyard brawls we used to put together in my hood that has me at 53-1-50... I was often refered to as "White Tyson".. I ended up getting a rare infection that almost killed me. After a year of fighting the infection I was left with a broken down body and my dreams of making it was over... Me and my family were dirt poor and that's why I had the infection for so long. I didn't have the money to run tests I needed.. It was a year later that I got the test done I needed that showed what was killing me.. Had I of had money it would have been caught earlier and I would have likely gone on to go pro.. Or at least I'd like to think so... It's kind of like the NFL.. Sometimes it's not the best team that makes it to the super bowl but the ones that stayed healthy and had the fewest injuries... And more to what you were saying Ben.. Can you imagine what Mike's career would have looked like if he had the mental toughness of Ali?? I don't care what anyone says. There has never been a more mentally tough fighter then Ali... That great will of his is what beat Forman.. Had Tyson of had that kind of mental toughness there's no dout in my mind he's the undisputed best ever and not a single person would say otherwise.

    Julius Francis:
    "Coming across the ring towards me, Tyson had this unbelievable intensity and ferocity about him. My plan went straight out the window. You have studied the way he comes out and you practise defending it, but the way he does it is nothing like what you have prepared for. If someone hits me I want to hit him back, that's the sort of person I am, but it's different against Tyson. He hit me immediately with a big right and, though I was well up for the fight, I was shocked by the speed and power of the punches that followed. I was knocked down in the first round. I got up, he carried on and the rest of the fight was a bit of a blur. He was hitting me with all sorts of body and head shots; he even lifted me off the ground with some of them and I weighed 17 stone! It was relentless.
    He would come at me from one side and then from the other. The angles he got into me from were incredible. People always talk about his punching power but his technique and timing are also excellent. He always gets inside you and can outbox and outjab you. He was such a gifted fighter.
    When I was interviewed afterwards, they told me I had been knocked down five times and I was amazed. I didn't believe them until I watched it on a monitor."

Mike Tyson's worst enemy was Mike Tyson when Constantine D'Amato died and Don King talked him into firing Kevin Rooney his original trainer everything went downhill!! He went from a technical peekaboo style fighter to a brawler to an angry fighter is a terrible fighter and he was fighting demon but I'm glad to see he turned out to be a great man and he's the greatest heavyweight who's ever lived Constantine D'Amato was his guardian angel he kept the goons away from him then when he died everybody came after him!! Mike Tyson could've been the greatest of all time. As it stands, he's the biggest what-if of boxing history. He had the kind of natural ability that's unheard of, strength, will and killer instinct to a degree where none of the current top bill fighters would stand in the same area code with him.
    Wilder is the top beast right now. But Tyson would've fucking skinned him.

      I hate 'If', but what if Tyson's mindset was straight I think only Holyfield could have got him, but not twice. It would have been split. He would have fucked Lennox up and he's no joke. Ali told George Foreman to not fight Mike because he hits so hard and Big George wasn't easy to put down! Ali said himself he wouldn't want to get hit by Mike. What if Mike really gave up? What a story, right there with Ali as a special talent.

      Cus needed to be around 5 more years and this could have been avoided. Mike wasn't ready to be released in to the snake pit of life. He was too young and didn't know how the world worked. + Mike had mental problems and Cus kept it under control for the most part. Even Don King once said: I had no idea Mike was this fucking unstable. OK maybe so, but snakes like him caused and helped Mike implode.

    I always heard bad news about Mike Tyson when I was very young, that he was a ear consumer or a rapist, but nowadays I know that much of the bad things they told about Tyson was incredibly biased, stupid and simplistic. Yes, he was not an easy dude with a peacefull personality, but what he did in the rings before being arrested because of a BITCH is a show of an unimaginable talent. He brings speed, power, combos of strikes and perfect and fast swings to confuse their opponents. Hes not only a boxer with speed and power, but some of his combos are perfectlly matched to confuse the opponent entirelly. This shit is fucking beautifull to watch. If God could give me a super-natural power, I would like to have Tyson boxing skills and strenght. I would love to use it on some punks who messed with my life.
