@@RedPlaystationController ehhhh Birth By Sleep is pretty damn good. In some ways that game felt like a mainline title,and it completely sets up KH3. The others definitely were lacking and felt like cash grabs. Also, hopping between the different handheld systems for each release was fucking rediculous. They ported all the games to PS4 at least.

I love how the end with Roxas mirrors the end of the opening to Kingdom Hearts 1, where Sora falls down through the ocean and lands on what’s revealed to be a Dive to the Heart, looking in wonder as birds fly up, around and away.
+Herolegend "Return". He's not gone, he's just a part of Sora again, though I admit his fate does make me a little sad. But unless they do some serious plothole patching, it won't make much sense for him to separate from Sora again. They've stated countless times that Roxas makes Sora whole.

@@dootdoot7199 Look don't get me wrong, I have played all of kingdom hearts and I quite enjoy them, also yes I understand the full story because I played the whole collection. But it's what I would call a kids final fantasy with too much Disney focus. Litterally every final fantasy I've played (7,8,9,10,10-2,12,15,7Remake) are all better than kingdom hearts yet capture a similar feeling but in a more mature way. That alone is a decent list. And the feeling we are talking about could mean anything to anyone of us but for me it's the charm of characters that gave me the best feeling in kingdom hearts and what final fantasy does so much better. There is also every "Tales of" saga that does this even better (Tales of Arise just recently released). Trails of cold steel 1-4 which goes even deeper (probably all of the legends of heroes games but I've only played trails of cold steel). Pretty much every JRPG is better in this regard. Kingdom hearts is only special because of nostalgia. As someone who played them all as an adult they are pretty average or even below average in terms of story and characters. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it. I actually really liked some characters from the game, mainly Roxas, Axel, Terra, Ventus and Aqua. For some reason the "spin offs" seem to have better stories. Yah, there is loads more games out there that put this series to shame, this is coming from a regular fan here. I will buy the next one too, but only if I'm not playing any other JRPG.

Nothing will ever beat playing through this game for the first time, seeing Riku and Sora return to the islands, and hearing the ending version of this song. That's something I'm going to remember for the rest of my life.

This intro is perfect. The imagery, the music, everything. The guitar at the beginning still gives me chills. I'll never forget how I felt when I saw this for the first time, after waiting like four years to play KH2. Hopefully KH3 has something even half as good as this
I just showed this to my girlfriend who has absolutely no knowledge of Kingdom Hearts or it's story, and she said that this was one of the most beautiful songs/openings she has ever seen. She felt a rollercoaster of emotions for a game/story she's never even played. That's just amazing.
Not enough people talk about 1:19 Sora desperately trying to wake the lifeless body of his best friend/love of his life, then turning to see the man responsible for all his pain, taking the form of his other best friend who betrayed him. Especially knowing how brutally difficult and emotional that fight was the first time I played KH1 as a kid... this part always gives me chills.
Amen. I am just now beginning to find my own sanctuaries in life. You have to find them or make them. Everyone deserves to have a place, physical or mental, where they feel secure and at peace. Sometimes this is a place. Sometimes it's a thought. Sometimes our sanctuary is another person. It's also much easier to face the world again when you've had some time to process things well and just.. rest your mind from worry. I feel like most of my 20's I was asleep, worrying constantly instead of paying attention, living in the moment. The substances didn't help. Just turned 30, and this game is just as meaningful to me now as it was when I was a kid. I feel like I'm waking up again to be myself for the first time in a long time. This helps me remember. What a beautiful vision.
I remember when I usually went to the beach before playing this game in summer mornings, I didn't understand the feeling at the time, and I didn't put much attention in it, but sometimes I remember how I felt. It is kinda strange and difficult to explain this feeling, it was unique, and I never felt the same way again from that period, that's why I consider it so important. I wish so much to live those days again. Oh well, time to return to reality again.
It’s like poetry. Watching this now.. they gave you everything you needed for the pieces to make sense. And now getting all the modern puzzle pieces fittings.. it’s feeling incredible. And we got to live through this. Wow. What a time. What a legacy. From Utada’s grateful voice guiding us through our darkness to find the light. From some of the best cinematic and music in a game that leaves an echo in us all. This is a story I’d tell forevermore.
Nothing will ever top Kingdom Hearts 2 opening, the nostalgia, the heartbreaking moments and the best moments, but man Sanctuary really hits you right in the heart just proves that this wasn’t just some other game but a story, and you finally see the true meaning behind everything, man so many surprise moments in this game and a turning point in the series, Kingdom Hearts isn’t just a game but a story told by many people and a boy named Sora🖤🌹
@@garintj1547 I found it better than Destiny Island as a tutorial of "ya so.. walk around and do some practice fights if you want" Like if you skipped everything you would just be thrown in possibly unprepared (if new to it) and underleveled a bit, at least with Roxas, gave more story and set things up, eased you in to the combat
I think the thing that made me love this game was when I realized Chain of Memories was related to Kingdom Hearts 2. My friend gave me his Chain of Memories cartridge and I didn't really get into it because it was different and I didn't know it was the actual sequel to Kingdom Hearts 1 so I dropped it. I managed to beat the game plus Reverse/Rebirth some time after beating Kingdom Hearts 2 because I remembered I hadn't beaten the game. I was so shocked that Chain of Memories had so many important events that led to Kingdom Hearts 2 and it even showed Roxas at the end of Reverse/Rebirth which was eye opening. The moment that made me fall in love with this series was watching this intro again, knowing everything, and getting massive chills because I finally understood what was happening. There really was something magical about getting into this series and realizing that everyone and everything is connected.

Kingdom Haarts 2's 2 hour prologue is one of the greatest openings to a game. The way Twilight Town grows on you and watching Roxas' world and happiness be ripped away from him really hurts. At first you're like, "Who's this guy?! I wanna play as Sora?" But then when you play as Sora, you miss him. Beautiful story writing.

@@dootdoot7199 Look don't get me wrong, I have played all of kingdom hearts and I quite enjoy them, also yes I understand the full story because I played the whole collection. But it's what I would call a kids final fantasy with too much Disney focus. Litterally every final fantasy I've played (7,8,9,10,10-2,12,15,7Remake) are all better than kingdom hearts yet capture a similar feeling but in a more mature way. That alone is a decent list. And the feeling we are talking about could mean anything to anyone of us but for me it's the charm of characters that gave me the best feeling in kingdom hearts and what final fantasy does so much better. There is also every "Tales of" saga that does this even better (Tales of Arise just recently released). Trails of cold steel 1-4 which goes even deeper (probably all of the legends of heroes games but I've only played trails of cold steel). Pretty much every JRPG is better in this regard. Kingdom hearts is only special because of nostalgia. As someone who played them all as an adult they are pretty average or even below average in terms of story and characters. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it. I actually really liked some characters from the game, mainly Roxas, Axel, Terra, Ventus and Aqua. For some reason the "spin offs" seem to have better stories. Yah, there is loads more games out there that put this series to shame, this is coming from a regular fan here. I will buy the next one too, but only if I'm not playing any other JRPG.

In my opinion, this is the best one out of the entire KH series.
Nothing will ever beat playing through this game for the first time, seeing Riku and Sora return to the islands, and hearing the ending version of this song. That's something I'm going to remember for the rest of my life.

Sora desperately trying to wake the lifeless body of his best friend/love of his life, then turning to see the man responsible for all his pain, taking the form of his other best friend who betrayed him.
Especially knowing how brutally difficult and emotional that fight was the first time I played KH1 as a kid... this part always gives me chills.

Amen. I am just now beginning to find my own sanctuaries in life. You have to find them or make them. Everyone deserves to have a place, physical or mental, where they feel secure and at peace. Sometimes this is a place. Sometimes it's a thought. Sometimes our sanctuary is another person. It's also much easier to face the world again when you've had some time to process things well and just.. rest your mind from worry. I feel like most of my 20's I was asleep, worrying constantly instead of paying attention, living in the moment. The substances didn't help. Just turned 30, and this game is just as meaningful to me now as it was when I was a kid. I feel like I'm waking up again to be myself for the first time in a long time. This helps me remember. What a beautiful vision.

It is kinda strange and difficult to explain this feeling, it was unique, and I never felt the same way again from that period, that's why I consider it so important. I think the thing that made me love this game was when I realized Chain of Memories was related to Kingdom Hearts 2. My friend gave me his Chain of Memories cartridge and I didn't really get into it because it was different and I didn't know it was the actual sequel to Kingdom Hearts 1 so I dropped it. I managed to beat the game plus Reverse/Rebirth some time after beating Kingdom Hearts 2 because I remembered I hadn't beaten the game. I was so shocked that Chain of Memories had so many important events that led to Kingdom Hearts 2 and it even showed Roxas at the end of Reverse/Rebirth which was eye opening. The moment that made me fall in love with this series was watching this intro again, knowing everything, and getting massive chills because I finally understood what was happening. There really was something magical about getting into this series and realizing that everyone and everything is connected.
haven't played this game in years but this opening is engraved into my memory for the rest of my life...one of the most incredible & memorable videogame openings of them all tbh
Kingdom Haarts 2's 2 hour prologue is one of the greatest openings to a game. The way Twilight Town grows on you and watching Roxas' world and happiness be ripped away from him really hurts. At first you're like, "Who's this guy?! I wanna play as Sora?" But then when you play as Sora, you miss him. Beautiful story writing.
