I have two 30’s Tudor and a coupe. They always make me smile when driving them too. Getting ready to retire soon and may sell them both so those who always wanted one can enjoy as much as I had for about 12 years now.😁 We become caretakers for a while, and then pass them on…
Deluxe models included cowl lights, carpeting, wood grained window trim, pull down rear shade, mohair upholstery, painted wheels to match the pinstripe, rear seat arm rests and the dome light. Nice survivor! Keep it stock.
Outstanding! Great to see a younger person own an A ! Please, please, please, DON'T install a diesel. She's absolutely perfect. Make her safe, steering, brakes, all the fluids, lights ,and drive her. Very fortunate to have found her.Oh yes, the carb setup, ahhhhhh GET yourself a Zenith that's been redone and you'll love it. Great job,and good luck.
@@MotherlodeMotorshe's correct. Keep the A more original. Paul Shinn's videos can help you. Ask me if you have questions. Paul and I are friends and I've watched almost all of his videos. I've even driven two of his cars.
You could also join the Model A club that Paul Shinn is in (in the region close to the area where you live.) as they seem to be a very hands on club helping the members.
Looks like a really solid original car! Remember it is only original once! I'd try to keep anything original that I could. That's a replacement hub cab; the original ones were stainless steel.
When you put that hub cap back on, I have a 1930 Model A take the wheel off put the hub cap on and on the inside of the wheel bend those tabs over that are sticking through. the hub cap will never fall off again.
Very nice.. COMPLETE car that would be disgraced by installing a foreigner engine! DONT DO IT! Enjoy the old girl and preserve American Automotive History..
That's a cute car. I'll bet you have lots of fun with it. I've got a '28 Model A and just have a blast. I can drive mine anywhere I want to now, but not when I first got it. The more you drive them, the better they perform. And of course you get to flush out the gremlins. Have fun.
Thanks for sharing your videos, it reminded me of my first drives when I got my 31 Fordor, all those same sounds, and all that bouncing around! Yes, I agree even after 3 months owning mine (here in the UK). I have a permanent stupid grin on when I drive mine. You got to grips with the gears quicker than I did! Learning to double de clutch (mine needs it up, and down the box) was a bit like learning to drive all over again, and I'm 76! The right hand leaver is (in your case 'was') the hand throttle. Your modern Dizzy means you don't have to play with the left Advance/Retard ignition leaver, which actually is fun to use trying to match what the engine wants at different rpm. Anyway enjoy your Model A, they are great fun, and other road users are so kind, considerate and patient I have found, which makes a change in our ratty modern times!
It’s in pretty nice original condition. Did you have someone teach you how to double clutch? You don’t need 12 volt. Just make sure the wiring is new and your starter and general are rebuilt and you’ll be fine. I drive a 1923 model T daily with 6 volts … no problem.
loved the video reminded me of taking my good lady for a first drive in a 1935 Morris 10 ( in England) Morris is much like the Ford but smaller. Still have the Morris ( and my good lady) 35 years later. Adrian
If you want a modern car, buy one. There are many ways to get much better performance from A Model A. The new engine from Terry Burtz will do wonders for your Model A and it bolts right in.
It's easier to make this drive more like a modern car than to make a modern car look this cool. I do like the Burtz engine and I think that's the way I'll go at some point.
Paul Shinn channel is a great channel with loads of info on the Model A. Those ar such fun cars I myself is thinking about getting one I would really love a 1932 ford but those things are so expensive and hard to find a good one because many were used as Hot Rods and still are today but the modal A is really cool.
@@MotherlodeMotors thx u. Usually I see them in nicer shape than yours or worse shape than yours. I have not seen to me in the condition of yours which is what I'm looking for. Something that I can work on and make nicer but isn't so bad where I have to do a frame off but I still can afford it unlike some of the nicer ones. I appreciate it.
Always push the spark lever up and the gas lever down a little. If you don’t push the spark lever up you stand the chance of breaking the starter spring. You can turn the chock knob a little this will make it run better you can tell by the sound of the engine
Opps forgot; Yours is a late '30, get a new speedo cable. Body is the Briggs town sedan. Your headlight need new reflectors, Snyder's has everything you need..
wow, i am wanting to get a model a and diesel swapp it too. i have never owned one but have owned a few Mercedes diesel cars, i was going over the engines also and the one on the top of list was the om616. my end game is a 4 door sedan with a small camper to pull behind it from the same period. i think with a mercedes manual trans you will get more top speed and it will just be a easier conversion.
I would restore the car to original including the carb and distributer and anything else. Work on getting the body which in itself will be a project. Join a Model A club, you probably will come into contact with parts you will probably need.
Couple years ago a friend gave me an extremely rare but near worthless stock low mile 32 4 door orphan car no wood in body. 60 hp, won't go. Mechanical brakes, won't stop. Tractor steering, won't turn. Extremely unsafe in urban traffic. Upgraded to 300 6, 3 speed synchro, 9" 3:10 gears, front disk brakes, AC, power steering, steel moon roof, proper lights, wipers, door latches and 3 point restraints. Other than 4" lower and 15" wheels looks original. Fun to build and now good for urban traffic and freeway, goal was efficient smoother cruiser. Car weight 2800 lbs nothing to that engine. Otherwise would have ended up a crap rod or garage artifact. Had to extend the front for the 300 which made it a lot better looking. We all prefer a longer front bit.
Get a Snyder's Antique Auto catalog, get new hub caps, bend the tabs over with wheels off, then they'll stay on. Never convert a Model A to 12v, this is stupid. I'd convert it back to 6v, also the original Zenith carb, no more fuel pump, gravity feed. Good luck ........
@@MotherlodeMotors👌I know there is a fully counterweighted crankshaft kit that greatly improves that engine. No vibration and better durability ! Have fun 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

What a nice original car. Don't do anything stupid. 😊
Beautiful 4 door. I’ve a
dreamed of owning one since I was a child. 55 years of dreaming. Maybe one day.
Please dont molest this car with a Mercedes diesel engine
I agree if you don’t want an original Model A , buy a kit body and make whatever you want. It’s a shame to destroy a nice original like that.

Keep it Ford.
Model T guys would laugh 😁👍

Came her for the Model A, stayed for the dog.
It's in great order for it's age, running good as well, what's not to like; Nice project!
I just moved my '31 Tudor to my place in the Gold Country. Maybe I will see you around.

It's nice. I'd probably fix the roof first and then restore the inside but leave the outside close to how it is now.
With that patina I'd agree... clean up & restore the interior, make it safe & reliable, and enjoy it!
Try holding the hubcaps with some transparent silicone. It's unnoticeable and it works
I think I just need to bend the tabs out so they grip harder.
congrats on purchase. 👍
By now, you're probably an expert at "double clutching".
Just picked up a 31 coupe! Beyond excited. Looking up every Model A video on UA-cam LOL!

No i just figured it out. Yeah I'd go back to 6v probably but I'll need to go back to the stock carb first so that I can get rid of the fuel pump.
