Upper Franconia is so awesome. So many great Spots and they have the BEST Beer there. Looooots of small little Brewerys everywhere... They have done "Craft Beer" for centurys.

When I was working for the U.S.Army in Nuremberg as a Civilian Support Group supervisor in the 1980's my assistant used to live in Pottenstein; I have often been there. The next time you visit I recommend to continue on the B470 road westbound and explore the Wiesent river valley.
I hiked that path with a number of army buddies in July of 1976. I found it to be a simple but magical place. I think a pilgrimage is in order. Thanks for the great videos. Keep up the good work. There is a town east of you closer to the Czechia border called Falkenberg. Great place to visit as well if a Pottenstein fan!

No shame in being a tourist! lol I lived in Germany off/on for a total of eleven years. We did a LOT of what y'all are doing annnnnd we did the touristy stuff too. Definitely worth it!

So you could also go to the Annafest (Forchheim) soon. Starting July 26. Been there 6 or 7 times. 22 beergarden from 15 different breweries and six live bands each day / night on different stages. Great Entertainment, people and beer.
There are so many tremendous spots and activity offers in the Frankonian Switzerland. Go hike the Todsfelder Tal (extremely beautiful), visit 'Ruine Neideck' or the 'Riesenburg' or just go on a Kayak trip on the Wiesent. Also for hot summerdays visit the "Ostsee" near Bad Staffelstein. Awesome swimming spot there! And not to mention that upper Frankonia has the highest brewery density in the world. If you're into beer, do the "5 Seidla Steig". Hike to some of the best breweries and try to not get wasted :D
Wow, you guys visited Pottenstein! I have been there a couple of times, too and a good friend and working collegue lives not far away from there. It really is a great place
The bobsled on the Ochsenkopf mountain near Bischofsgrün is even faster. It's located to the North of you and a bit farther away than Pottenstein but not by much. It's been a long time since I've visited the cave. I was still a kid then.

@@filmsmith Well, the cave in Pottenstein is probably the largest dripstone cave in Germany that offers guided tours for the public. It's really worth it imho. The Riesending-Schachthöhle on the other side is many times larger but it is not open to the public.
